My target coupons are getting itchy. Hopefully I can find these guys before they expire this fall.
Lance Halberd:
I'm still not sold on Powerglide's glowing orange monkeyfist tits.
BigRC83:
Powerglide may be a pass for me. But Onslaught is a must.
Red leader:
I love powerglide, hes and awesome addition to the classics line, still not understanding why he isnt red though
Max-prime:
onslaught looks off I perfer him in the navy colors that we saw him in orignally the grey looks a little drab.
funkatron101:
It's amazing the difference in the painted prototypes to the final production.
Powerglide went from OMG to meh with just a few paint apps.
Liokaiser:
Can't wait to get them both.

Honestly they arn't anything real impressive to me...but I'm getting them anyway...just about any Classics addition is a good addition...
Ravenxl7:
I plan on getting both. I personally don't have a problemw ith Powerglide being white instead of red, and I also really like Onslaughts color scheme. The box art is a really nice touch, though I'm still going to do what I always to with boxes, and just throw them away.
Rabbit:
Powerglide appears to be mistransformed...though I'm not 100% sure on that.
silentrob:
Onslaught looks awesome, I cant wait to see it in person. Powerglide is an easy pass for me.
Sammael:
I much preferred Onslaught's original color scheme.
EDIT: Actually, I dislike the new color scheme so much that I'll wait to see how the inevitable Henkei repaint turns out to be.
Fit For natalie:
Hah, Monzo from the Allspark forums gets props with every Onslaught toy! (that's his birthdate tampographed on the toy)
docbenspock:
yah i kinda wanna pass on both. Onslaught, i may change my mind if i like him in person. Powerglide maybe if he gets the Heike treatment.
Johnator:
Both look great and the boxes are simply amazing as well. My only problem is that Powerglide should be RED. Hopefully Henkei Powerglide will be.
Afterburner:
Why in the world did Hasbro change the black parts to light gray on Onslaught?
I will tell you, I know some love Hasbro and some love TakaraTomy. But Hasbro's little "touches" always seem to make the toy worse while TakaraTomy adds little touches that make a toy full of awesome and spice. I don't understand it. Every time I think I'm going to like something...
And I still can't believe the fraud they get away with by always picturing a toy dolled up with more paint apps on the box than what you get inside. I find it extremely distasteful not to mention unethical. Look at the back of the box pics compared to the final production peices. Quite a difference even if you get rid of the cheap photoshop effects.
Thank goodness for Henkei.
Greyryder:
Onslaught looks good. Still not sold on Powerglide. I'm just not feeling his size, color scheme, or the turboshaft style exhaust they slapped onto what are presumably supposed to be turbofan engines.
SPLIT LIP:
These look terrible. I still wanna see Powerglide's heart gimmick, but Onslaught is just full of fail. He suffers from "WTF do I turn into" syndrome. Poor Powerglide not only has tiny arms, but he has a bad case of "Hasbro couldn't TF their figs correctly if their lives depended on it". His vehicle mode looks meh at first glance, kinda cool on second glance, but on the third take you notice it really does look meh.
EDIT: Looking again it seems Powerglide is NOT mistransformed, but in fact he really does look that bad. My mistake.
Grimlock_13:
The Geewunner in me still really wished Powerglide was red, but oh well. Both need to get here NOW.
shroobmaster:
Onslaught is awesome.
Powerglide? Ehh... maybe his Decepticon version gonna be better with the black colors!
jorod74:
what is with PG's arms? they are sooooo short, like T-rex arms to me. opinions for these guys:
Poweglide- bot mode is bland. alt is great.
Onslaught- bot mode great, alt mode bland.
i am on the fence with both. (may break down and get PG for kicks, though.)
but you just wait- Cosmos will absolutely ROCK! talking Metallica/KISS/AC-DC rocks.
lol.
butz:
Onslaught looks so much better in vehicle mode without that stupid shield on top of his turret. I'm actually really digging both of these.
Zaraxion1021:
I thought Powerglide should be RED................ Dinobot Nuva: Quote:

Bumblebee looks like a stale lemon, Starscream is okay I guess, Grimlock has randomass chrome on his legs/neck, Megatron's chrome is place on too randomly, and Prime is just dull without the extra brightness from the Hasbro version.
Only saving grace for that line IMO is Astrotrain, b/c he's a BAMF in gray.
Bring on the Mega-Octane themed repaints.

therealjondoe:
pass like john stockton...these suck
Ricochet:
Henkei Onslaught should have darker body color!
...and chromed fork.
Ravenxl7:
I was looking at the pictures of Onslaught again, and, is it just me or does he apear to have siny/metalicy plastic similar to the platic used for the Movie Premium figures? It actually looks pretty good, imo. Honestly, I prefer the Habro versions of the Classics 1.0 figures, and if the trend of slavish G1 decoes, and randome use of chrome, continues with the Takara versions of these figures, I'll be sticking with the Hasbro one's. There are however two thinges that I can think of, atm, that bother me about Powerglide. 1. His bot-mode has most of it's mass in the torso (not sure how easy he will be to pose). 2. the button to activate his lights and sounds gimmick in alt-mode is extremely obviousley a button. I would have prefered something that blended into his alt-mode better. I'll still be getting him, as those two things aren't big enough for me to dislike him.
REDLINE:
that's the magic of photoshop. he won't be nearly that shiny in real life.

Powerglide looks much better than I originally thought he did. Do want.

SMOG:
Now that we're getting more "accurate" looking pictures, without all the hand-painted Hasbro photoshop glamour, I'm less enthusiastic about these figures certainly. I still like them... but now I'm thinking more clearly about them, once the novelty and thrill has worn off. Quote:
Originally Posted by meetoblivion Last couple of iterations, mega/voyager and ultra classes were pretty much the same size, just that ultra has electronics. | I tend to disagree. Most Ultras are still decidedly larger than Voyagers (add to that the tendency for Voyager figures to get smaller every year). In most cases though, the extra bulk and electronic features are not enough added appeal for me.
And yeah... there is NO reason for these to be Ultras. They could have just as easily been Voyagers... in fact better as Voyagers. As Ultras, they end up being in that awkward scale that makes it hard to match them with other figures (Energon Ironhide and Cliffjumper anyone?).
Also, it just makes me less able to justify the extra cost ($40 for Ultras in Canada). More likely I'll end up waiting for sales or secondary market on Ebay.

The Ultras ("Command Class" for Energon, IIRC) were Ultra Magnus, Landmine, Bulkhead, Scorponok, and Tidal Wave. And I really thought all those toys were appropriate sizes.

I'm still just not feeling Powerglide, but I'm really digging the updated, greyish color scheme on Onslaught.

And I really thought all those toys were appropriate sizes. | Those ones were all fairly appropriate because they all depicted characters that should be rather large (except Bulkhead, whose bulk was mostly his drone robot add-on). In the case of Classics, all three of the announced Ultras are characters that would be better suited to Voyager status.
I believe you may be mistaken about the sizes... E.Ironhide and Cliffjumper both came in larger packaging as I recall... guys like Shockblast, Mirage/Dreadwing, and I believe Wingsaber would have been the Voyager-equivalents (although Voyager as a class name was introduced in Cybertron, was it not?). It would seem that Energon had three price points between Deluxe and Leader instead of the two we have now... Quote:

Jetfire, Prime, Megatron... even Grimlock would have been credible Ultras. It just feels like the size classes and the line-ups for Classics and 2.0 ideally should have been reversed.
Heh... just wait. The '09 wave Voyagers will be Omega Supreme, Trypticon and Wheelie.
zmog
General Tekno:
Hey- I'd settle for Trypticon getting remade - I don't care about the size.
And Omega will likely be Hasbro's next Supreme-class - I'll go ahead and guess it'll show up in Q1 of next year. (It can't be Q2-Q4, simply because of the movie line showing up. They'll want a supreme there - and Q4 is arguably too late to make Omega)

The helicopter mold would have made a far better Universe Springer than Cybertron Evac, especially given they're already using Evac for Autobot Blades.

Arguably, Energon Bulkhead is already in Springer colours, so re-releasing him in Classics/Universe might be a bit redundant. A head re-mold would have been nice though. I never really pictured Springer as having a handlebar mustache.
For my part, I recently rectified that by replacing E. Bulkhead's face (just the face) with a faceplate from a spare G1 TwinTwist. It works pretty well.
Ever notice the Autobots have a lot of helicopters? Blades, Springer, Sandstorm, Whirl... and more recently Evac. Granted Sandstorm and Springer are also cars, but somehow helicopters seem to be more essential to the characters.

By size and features, he's more aptly labeled as the latter, but the 2-pack (with Deluxe-sized OP) sold for $25.
The names have changed, but most of the price point structure (not counting exclusives) has been the same for all main lines since Armada:
$6.99 - Mini-Con/Energon/Scout/Real Gear (none in Animated)
$9.99 - Super-Con/Combat/Deluxe
$19.99 - Max-Con/Mega/Voyager
$24.99 - Giga-Con/Command/Ultra (none in Animated)
$39.99 - Super Base/Leader
$49.99 - Supreme (none in Movie)
Armada also had the $14.99 Role Play point for Laserbeak. The movie line added Ultimate, a second $10 type (FAB), and Cyber Slammers. Animated has Activators and yet another $10 type (Bumper Battlers).
Red leader:
So is Powerglide now officially known as ''fire tits powerglide'' or not ???
AniProwl:
Powerglide is a big no-no due to the big orange suspicious things on him.
Onslaught will make up for missing the Cons from the start of this line.

To the topic at hand; Powerglide was never really on the radar, to be honest, and the poses they put him in really don't help any. Onslaught looked a lot better in the teal get-up; the grey looks okay, but nowhere near as nice. I might pick him up if I can, although I'd probably stick the riot shield in my bits box, as it looks stupid in vehicle mode.

I mean, if you put an Energon Cliffjumper next to a Dreadwing or Shockblast, you'd never guess that they were the same pricepoint. Quite a variety there... though it does strengthen my complaint about how diminished the scale of most Voyagers has become in recent lines.
My recollection is also complicated by the fact that I wasn't actively collecting the larger figures at full price (usually on clearance) during Energon, and the prices in Canada are a bit different. Quote:

Many of the Energon "Voyagers" in the above list are easily the size of more recent "Ultras", and all had electronics built in. The robot modes of Bulkhead and Landmine are a bit more like current Voyagers (which usually omit electronics).
I guess my point remains... it's unfortunate that Hasbro decided to make these Classics 2.0/Universe figures as Ultras, and the first Classics figures as Voyagers. It honestly diminishes the appeal considerably. I'd prefer to have those particular characters smaller, more in synch with the earlier figures, and I'll be more likely to buy them at retail at the lower price point.
Ah, well...
