Ironhide looks pretty good in bot mode, but his alt mode looks like he was in a high speed collision. Way too many moving parts on the side of the truck.
| Had they painted the side and rear windows black instead of light blue I think it would help the overall look a ton.
B-Fox:
Love how Ironhide, even with his crazy-crotch, is actually an appropriate shade of red instead of the weird orange-red color we first saw him in. It was one of the factors in my preordering the Henkai version, just in case. Now if Takaratomy does something about the mismatched colors between the transparent windshield and the painted door windows I might still get that version over the Universe one.
But judging by Galaxy Force's Autovolt, I don't think they understand matching paint with colored plastic very well....
Also, I second the digibash of the mis-transformed Sideswipe into Side Swipe.
Wheeljack35:
When I look at Ironhide it reminds me when we first seen there was going to be a Unicron
I was excited finally a Unicron
I'm the same here I'm excited to finally to get a GI toon version even though he is a bit different but the more you look the same he is

The Engine is supposed to be like his Jetpack from MTMTE. | While it can be used as a jetpack, the engine does clip onto the gun and it fits better on the shoulder then in his hand that way. Mine stays nice and snug, so it won't shake off, though it can easily be bumped. The gun and the engine are supposed to combine, and since Sunny is known for the vents on the back and Side is the one with the big shoulder cannon, it makes sense this trick was made for Side.

Ptitvite:
His new head still does not scream Sideswipe to me
Powersa:
They look okay. Stock photos look better than the actual figures.
NeoGutsman:
All look terrific - I'm totally buying these (Bluestreak was my very first Transformer ). It's just too bad that Hasbro eff's it up yet again with mistransformed robot modes in these official pics. C'mon!

If they ARE done by Hasbro, though, I still can't say I'd be too surprised. | Even if they did outsource product photos, you'd have thought someone at Hasbro wouold have veted them and demanded they had been redone properly. After all these are ment to promote the product and they hardly show it in teh best light.
(I know my customers would send my work back if the websites I built fell this far short and I'd do the same too).
PrimeConvoy:
Awesome, I can't wait to get these so I can transform them right. I cant wait to get my hands on Ironhide the most, looks freaking amazing.
shumworld:
seriously, the people who transform these pics, are they like retarded or something?
Hale:
I can't help but feel that this Ironhide model was originally supposed to be in the movie line. His aesthetic is different from the rest of the classics. He has open hands, instead fists. Not to mention his weapon is some sort of cannon with a blade, which is very similar to Movie Bumblebee. Maybe he was another character and they decided to just use the mold for classics and call it ironhide? Anyhow, it's just an observation.
Sideswide will be nice when he finally comes out. Bluestreak looks much better than the Prowl version for sure.
Dark_Convoy:
Wow.
HOLY MISTRANSFORMATION BATMAN!!! T16skyhopp:
i was really excited for ironhide, but he keeps looking more and more like an aborted movie toy.

General Magnus:
Ironhide´s rims seem unpainted. Weren´t they grey in the prototype showed at Botcon?
Acteon:
God, that is terrible. Do they want the line to fail? Kids are notoriously picky with their toys, and those pics won't shift units to anyone. Must be nice to mess these things up and still know you'll make a profit...
Mechafire:
Ugh.
Why does Sideswipe always look wrong?
It's either mistransformed, or wrong head.
Ironhide looks like shit.
This line is becoming fail.
DrBifford:
Somebody help me out. The box art for Sideswipe, who is it? Its not Sideswipe, looks more like Hound to me.

The clips would be more secure. Besides, it still looks bad.

Ironhide. I ... almost love him. He has NO paint apps in robot mode. Just a big blurr of total red. Also, those rear "windows" seriously need to be black or dark grey in color.
Ahh, the two-headed Sideswipe. I mean, wow, again. Hasbro is a total joke when it comes to promoting their own products.
Aaron and Greg, did ya just fall off the earth into a vat of money and not care at all about the quality of your toys? Faulty paint, botched paint apps, and apparently about ZERO thought in presenting your products. UGH.
Optimatron:
Whats up with Ironhide's face?? It looks like a light blue color...as do the rear windows, and the silver being so visible through the back windshield is a real turn off. I hope the color quality on this model is a lot better than this photo. The silver displayed in the original photos looked much better..not some pasty blue color. Thats my only big complaint/worry with these pictures...it's aparrent that hasbro has lost it's ability to hire people capable of figuring these things out, so I know they're mistransformed.
Also I agree that Ironhide could have been a scrapped movie design...his legs look a bit like that asthetic....like jumbled kiddle. So does that retarded looking weapon. Still it's been a while since we got a decent Ironhide that resembled his G1 self, so I'll still be picking this guy up even if I have to do a little painting myself......Scary

Otispq:
compared to so many of the movie lines utter wierdness, all these classics look to be solid gold. I'm in.
REDLINE:
I want these so bad. I've been pining for a new Ironhide that was more toon accurate since Classics was first announced back in 2006!

Yes they are mistransformed but they are not 100% awful. They will still end up in my collection.
SMOG:
Seriously, Hasbro staff photographers... ? Seriously?!
I mean, is there an office bet going on to see who can shoot pictures of new figures the most mistransformed, and still get paid for them?
That said, I like the look of the figures overall. I agree with the comments about Ironhide's rear windows. Honestly, I think I might just strip the paint right down to the red plastic, and leave it that way. I would much prefer him with the windowless "delivery truck" aesthetic, rather than the not-so-convincing SUV look.
Ironhide's box-art looks pretty cool. The really funny thing is that just last week, I was doing concept sketches of Ironhide for a Mosaic piece...
It's almost uncanny. I honestly hadn't seen any images of this box-art before, or even looked closely at the pics of Universe Ironhide head design, but they're almost exactly the same. Guess I'm just on Hasbro's wavelength. Weird!

Sportimus:
Monkeys can do a better job of transforming these correctly. I mean, seriously, it doesn't help at all when a company is trying to promote what really is a great mold (Sideswipe), and they make it look like a total PoS. They should hire me. I vow that if Hasbro hires me to do their stock photos, every one will not only be rght, be in wicked poses to boot. One can dream...
shogun221:
I am surprised no-one has mentioned the lack of a good missile-launcher for Sideswipe. It helped set him apart from him brother in bot mode and him missing it is disappointing.
Sunstreaker's handgun attaches to his shoulder well, but looks really awkward being mounted on such a long post. I was hoping they might shorten the grip on it to form an exclusively shoulder-mounted weapon. It would be a pretty good approximation of his missile launcher....

Something's definitely wrong when the photos of the gray prototype versions are all perfectly transformed and in sweet poses, and then the final "official" product images come out, and it looks like a half-transformed piece of junk that someone just pulled out of a child's toybox.

BustaJesse:
I don't like these. I want to, but I just feel like I am getting more movie toys, not classics. I love both lines a lot, I just don't like them combined if that makes sense. The newer ones just feel, fragile.

Anyways, got a good laugh looking at those mistransformations... especially Sideswipe. thanks Hasbro XD

Beside Ironhide's legs and weapon, I don't really feel that the rest of the Universe classics are in any way unused models of the movie transformers. Right now I have all of wave 1 deluxes, and 1 ultra class Onslaught (still can't find powerglide damnit). Sunstreaker's transformation and look are very G1 inspired. He and Sideswipe's body asthetic is blocky and G1. Same goes for the other set of twins Bluestreak and Prowl. Octane is very much himself as well..besides the name. I also find the build quality to be pretty good with the exceptions of sunstreakers arms sliding off at the bicepts. But that's an easy slide back on.. There's a little problem of Onslaughts legs not clipping into place too well either..but other than that...I give this line a A+...it's giving me all my favorite characters and era of transformers....The line has great transformations and they look like their G1 selfs. Thats what I'm all about.....
now the scale of the classics line is a different story in my mind sometimes.
