Official High Resolution Images of Universe Voyager-class Leo Prime and Overload - Transformers News

Different than the previous pics, being that they're not touched up like the previous ones on BBTS. Plus, packaging pics.

Leo Prime's box marks him as a Maximal, yet both the figure and box art have Autobot insignias.
Sentinel Pax:
Ugh...Leo Prime looks sucky...and calling him a Maximal is a terrible idea since he isn't even a Lio Convoy colored repaint. Not that it really matters...but still, haha.
kronos:
I love Leo prime. I will be getting him fo sho!
Robogeek28:
Wow, side be side pics show just how much of a difference there is between photoshopped pics and actual product.
Ceerad:
They're really milking the Cybertron molds for this line.
General Magnus:
I dig it. Might get it.
Grade-A-Prime:
Wow, the 1st time I've bothered looking at these pics since I heard the BBTS ones were bad. Now that I see them in HiRes, man.....I'm not sure if I should look at them without having a bucket nearby.

Leo Prime...I have a LioConvoy from Japan(white/gold). The Japanese paint job is FAR superior to the one they're using here. I understand they want a g1 type color-scheme, but good lord...the head deco and hind legs look ridiculous!

And as far as Overload goes...WTF???!!! ANOTHER Scattershot re-paint? Good-freakin'-God! Hell, even using Defense Red Alert woulda made a whole lot more sense and we wouldn't be looking a repeat re-paint.

I have collected EVERY u.s. main-line tf since Beast Wars, and I'm SERIOUSLY considering skipping both of these. That's just sad. ..

G.A.P.

Yeah, I've learned my lesson about Hasbro's bait and switch photography.

So basically, imagine these images, but run through the wringer of a low-budget KO manufacturer, with sloppy, sticky paint and terrible QC, and you've got a pretty good idea of what the finished retail version will look like.

The packaging and the symbol on his chest suggest he's and Autobot.

His symbols, yes, but the package says Maximal and has the Maximal symbol on it. Could just be a simple mistake, though.
G1Wheeljack:
OK, I'm sold on Leo Prime, that Primal Prime color scheme & new head sculpt are both nice and I never got Leo/Nemesisbreaker so this guy will look nice attached to Cybertron Prime. I wish they would make up thier minds on whether he's a Maximal or Autobot though.

Sadly this is true, such a shame. I'd CONSIDERED getting Leo Prime because of the new head, but the colors looked wonky to begin with, now they're just nauseating.

And Overload, him I was planning on getting, but UGH those colors! Seriously Hasbro, you need to stop putting photoshopped pictures out there, it only causes disappointment.
eriku:
I can't figure out what is more bewildering, the fact that Overload is being released or the fact that I clicked on the link.
Mister Gone:
Yay! Now I can have another thing to attach to the rerelease Cybertron Prime! Woot! Hee Hee, Prime on Prime action!

Overstatement much? Yes, you are overstating and exaggerating.

There are reports of Henkei Prowls with sticky paint as well, along with problems in the new Binaltech line and of course, the misassembled and/or busted shoulders of Henkei Thundercracker. Don't act as though only Hasbro has problems this year and sweep QC issues with other toy manufacturers under the rug.
magmatron:
I want that Leo to repaint him to a badass G1 Razorclaw, bet I'm not the only one getting him for this reason!

I'd hold off if Razorclaw is your only motivation for this toy - I'm thinking Hasbro went to the trouble of making a new head for this mold so they could redeco it as Razorclaw themselves later on.

I thought of that too, but who knows when hasbro will do it. Or its colors.
Omegax80:
Yuck on both. Didnt we JUST GET a Cybertron Defense Scattorshot repaint in the form of Dropshot? I guess its never too soon to repaint repaints...
Darkspeed:
Leo Prime, he was always on my rejection list... Not even a new head can detract from the awful paint job on it.

Kinda disappointed in Overload. The colours are worse than I thought they were, and - After comparing to the originals - They've decided to cheap out on the techno-camoflage (Technoflage?) paint job that was so appealing to me. Bah...

I believe it's called digital camoflage.

Using an Ultra mold to fill a slot in the Voyager assortment does not make sense.

Oversensitive much? Hasbro doesn't need you to be their white knight, thanks.

I'm generalizing, but yes, the same crapass production quality applies to anything Transformers related, since Takara, Hasbro, it all comes from the same Chinese factories in the end. Happy now?
Kupp:
well they are releasing Evac twice too. Now if only we coud get a repaint of Cybertron Menasor. I think he would look completely kickass in constructicon colors.
Takara_destron:
Do want both. I'm going to skip Dropshot for Overload.
Beastbot X:
Leo Prime's box confuzzles me. So is he a Maxibot or an Automal?
Bass X0:
And Overload has MDL 823-75 on him with possibly a fourth letter at the beginning obscured by the packaging... someone's date of birth (August 23rd 1975) - possibly Monzo's?

Thanks for that... Whatever it's called, it should look better on Overload than that!
Fit For natalie:
Evidently Hasbro couldn't be bothered incorporating Maximal or Predacon sigils into the Universe logo, or they wanted to keep Bot and Con logos as the main brand logos in people's minds.

Well, if people stopped exploding into fury over little things (I mean dude, it doesn't look that bad) then my knightly services would no longer be required.

Now, I'm for knocking Hasbro (or whomever) over the appalling quality control of the Fan Club Seacons...
dark69:
i love Leo Prime!!
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
The thing about the Cybertron defense Scattershot etc. mold, other than 2 main line repaint releases being the same mold within a couple of months of each other (Blades/Springer, at least Springer is a store exclusive), is that the Scattershot colouring of the mold is EASILY by far the best paint job for him. So if I have that one why buy the two piles of puke done as his repaints? (shouldn't repaints at least be improvements/innovative rather than way worse than the original?...looking at you Galaxy Force Vector Sigma!)
Socialvegetable:
That Leo Prime is the fugliest TF I've ever seen. I've tried, and I can't find a single appealing characteristic. The level of detail in the paint would be passable on a scout, but not a voyager. In fact, it reminds me of an oversized KO Scout-class Leo Breaker. Maybe Hasbro's trying to beat the KO makers at their own game.

Overload's just another blah repaint of a blah repaint of a blah figure. Not quite as offensive as Leo Prime, but equally as uninteresting.

This is typical Universe filler, and I'd be less offended if they didn't bear the 25th anniversary seal. That should be left to the real classics 2.0 figures (that actually represent worthwhile/important characters throughout the franchise's history), and not bizarro repaints like these. The only seal these should recieve is "Only at KB Toys."

He has a remolded head.

Personally, I think Leo Prime should have been in the same colors as the Legends toy and the oppurtunity for a head remold went to someone else.
Chaos Prime:
So Lio Prime is suppose to be a Universe version of Lio Convoy, then?
Thundershot:
Here's my official guess...

He's gonna be Beast Wars Series, and he's a Maximal.

However, he's actually the original Optimus Prime who underwent the Maximal upgrade. The Autobot symbol is there to identify him as an Autobot as well. Didn't Ravage have Decepticon symbols?

Chris
WhiteMocha:
Man do I dislike that Leobreaker mold, with its stumpy little shins. And the Prime color scheme isn't doing it any favors. That one will be an easy pass.

I'm sold on Overload, though (though I do wish he were named "Flak"). I wish they had just released him from the get-go, and not bothered with bland little Dropshot.

Despite really liking this figure, I will agree with whoever it was who mentioned earlier in the thread that we need a CD Red Alert repaint. My personal pick would be giving him a new head and releasing him as Doubledealer, sans bird mode. But really any dark-colored Decepticon repaint would be welcome. Stalker, Groundshaker... heck, I've even go for a Machine Wars Soundwave homage. But no Perceptor, please. That mold is a terrible fit for Perceptor.
a fan like you:
Man, Hasbro's getting lazy. They're releasing a repaint of a toy in this toyline that's already been repainted.
Grimwing:
overload is looking much much more like micromaster flak with the red goggles.
The green is more encompasing as well. It was more faded like dropshot in the previous "shopped" pictures. I'm stoked as he was my favorite micromaster as a kid. Kaboom.

Leo prime is worth buying one of.

I'm aware. For me, the new head sculpt isn't an appealing feature. It looks like some amalgam of Movie Prime (leader class),and G1 Prime, with the resulting antennae stretched to make him more cat-like, and I think it's pretty terrible. The same could have been done for any figure in any line.

This is like Machine Wars Optimus Prime, only that was executed much better, and would have been worth a new head sculpt.

I do agree that the legends breaker's color scheme was much better than this, but I still can't stand the mold.

Triggerhappy:
I don't really understand what series they are homaging here,
I realise Overload looks very much (but not entirely) like a Micromaster, but Leo-Prime, where is that from?

Razorclaw ftw!
Fit For natalie:
Leo Prime is probably Lio Convoy, but painted in Optimus Prime-style colours... which DOES make him a good match to combine with Cybertron Optimus Prime.

Impactor, perhaps in a comic pack with a reprint of a classic UK comic in which he appears.

There is no better choice than Impactor.

Sorry bout the mix-up but....

Neither does using CD Scattershot and Evac as a re-paint TWICE in the same line! Specially when both were shelf warmers in my area for a loooonnnggg time.

Oh, great call! Never thought of that, but I like it. Despite it being an Autobot.

I'm hoping that he gets his own Ultra-class figure down the line.

Plenty of potential to make an awesome tank Megatron maybe next year or something.
SureShot90:
Leo Prime on Cyb. Optimus Prime would look awesome in Savage Claw mode.

I never said that that did make sense.
BlueAngel_Bolt:
Im getting both because:
1. CD Scattershot is one of my fav molds and these colors kick ass.
2. Leo Prime looks good, and Prime Claw Mode FTW
SilverDragon:
I join the collective cry of 'WTF?' when it comes to Leo Prime's faction confusion.
