For some reason, I think Silverbolt's robot mode has a bit of a Cybertron Soundwave aesthetic about him.

Both he and Powerglide look great.
Robogeek28:
Silverbolt I'm definately wanting, but the only way I'll be getting Powerglide is if I can afford the Henkei version.
ILoveDinobot:
Ah Silverbolt looks cool.
Jarodimus:
This may sound odd... but does anyone think Silverbolt's facesculpt resembles Aaron Archer?
Black Omega:
Oh man! Both Silverbolt & Powerglide just look absolutely great. Can't wait to get both of them. And I'm impressed that the designers thought of a way to properly hide Silverbolt's head much better that movie Starscream.
brianstowell:
and how much will they set me back, exactly?

He does, kinda. Just the shape of the face and the mouth make it look extremely Archer-y.

Silverbolt looks better here. Still not a fan of the jet mode design or the folded up robot underneath. Still not a fan of the jet mode folded up on the robot back. Still, the actuall robot looks nice as an update, though I didn't like Silverbolt in G1 so I doubt I'll be getting this.
Ktulu:
Silverbolt's robot mode to me is the perfect aesthetic for a toy meant to represent the spirit and design of a classic character. It's certainly modern enough but it's not over done, it looks and feels just right to me. The vehicle mode is kind of guilty of over-doing I guess, but it's still cool imo. Definitely a buy.

Powerglide is a little too beefed up, teched out, etc, but it's a deserving upgrade from shit ass mini bot to big, bad ass warrior. It's gotta be what all tiny TFs dream of
Switchblade:
This may be the first gallery that has ever made Powerglide look really good to me. I'm still not totally sold on him, but I'm at least considering him again.

Silverbolt just looks plain awesome. Definitely picking that guy up.
Red Alert:
My silverbolt can't get here soon enough.
BigRC83:
Silverbolt looks great. But the Henkei version looks way better.

The Powerglide pics are not loading.
Basketball Jones:
He does, kinda. Just the shape of the face and the mouth make it look extremely Archer-y.

They look like Silverbolt's features to me.

Aren't most of these figures engineered in Japan? I doubt the engineer carried a photo of Archer around when designing the figure.
Goaliebot:
I dunno - Silverbolt looks like an airplane glued to a robot - no part of the plane becomes part of the robot and vice versa... kinda feels like a cheat to me (I know, the original was like this too... I was just hoping for better integration between the 2 modes).

Most Transformers are conceptually designed by Hasbro, and Takara works off their materials, but there's alot of back and forth between companies.

I dunno, as I recall the original Silverbolt was a robot with an airplane glued to his back. I think this is a perfect modern day re-imagining very much like Universe Prowl whose transformation sequence and apperance is an updated version of his G1 self.

Powerglide on the otherhand..... yeeeesh. I'm glad I ordered the Japaneese version. The US version looks unfinished like that. Kind of like a half painted model.

Silverbolt went from being the unarmed, commercial supersonic airliner to a supersonic interceptor. That is a worthy upgrade to the original! Powerglide took steroids, and besides, the autobots needed another bomber

Want both!

I agree, but watch out some one might eat you.
Enigma2K2:
oooh... they should just update Superion... PERIOD.
Optimus Sledge:
Anyone got a link to the Henkei Silverbolt pics? I don't think I've seen them yet.

Anyhoo, the Hasbro 'Bolt looks fine to me. Still not sure which Powerglide to buy.
Railguard:
I will be getting these two as soon as they come out. They look way cool!!

I never said it was intentional or that it DIDN'T look like Silverbolt, (not that a generic robot face wouldn't look like Silverbolt, anyway) just taht it DID remind me of Aaron Archer...

...However, if the DESIGNER meant to add it as a joke, the final designs would include the visual reference, which would then carry over to the final product.

Again, NOT SAYING IT IS, just, it does remind me...
Ktulu:
Weren't the only henkei pics of Silverbolt ones that showed no difference between the two versions?

Ktulu, everytime I see a post of yours I laugh. "Motherf*king milk!"

If I remember right, the Henkei version has cartoon colors and chrome.

Both are more toon acurate with my love of sexy chrome! God I wish more chrome would be on figures, I JUST LOVE IT! Seriously when I first saw the old henkei pics im like these things ar bland boring shit. My friend got Megatron< Starscream, and BB. In person there pretty damn awsome the chrome made me want them even more. After seeing them i bought all of them that came out. I dont think any pics do the figures justice. I cant wait to actually see Silverbolt, and Powerglide in person. The reds actually being red ala starscream,Megs, Prime ect. instead of orange is also a nice touch that sold me.

But all fail in comparison to animated.
Optimus Sledge:
Meh, I'll take Hasbro 'Bolt. Unless I see a side-by-side comparison, Henkei still doesn't look different enough to justify the extra.
Ktulu:
Looks like the biggest difference will be that Hasbro's is a bit darker overall, i.e. the grey head in place of the "better" show accurate white
T(x):
Silverbolt's transformation is too simple. Move the nosecone backwards, swing the legs down, and pop out the arms. Acceptable for a combiner in 1986, but this Silverbolt doesn't even combine.

Whats the problem with show accurate? Whats wrong with liking show acurate. I GUESS IM A TAKARA FAN BOY FOR LIKING SHOW ACCURATE. Seriously dude lay off whats your problem. WHY THE FUCK AM I ARGUING OVER A CHILDS TOY IN THE FIRST PLACE???? AH jesus I give up you win. Hasbro's classics are better.
Vladakris:
Wow calm down people, this is turning into a mines bigger than yours thing. I like Silverbolt, his alt mode gives me an interesting idea for a skylynx custom with this figure.

Agreed- I saw the figure in person and fiddled with it. VERY simple transformation.

HOWEVER, he's not the simplest Ultra ever made. Cybertron Menasor is even simpler and has a more fudged altmode to boot. Compared to him, Silverbolt is a much better figure.

Plus, his robot limbs tuck under the plane VERY well, to its credit.

Dude, chill the fudge out. No one's arguing with you. No one's saying you're wrong. Different people have different priorities. I don't think the Henkei version improves on the Hasbro one, so I'll buy the Hasbro and save a few quid. Us disagreeing doesn't make you a bad person.

Your reaction to to us disagreeing, however, does.
Poho:
Silverbolt's alt mode is TOTALLY sick, but his robot mode is SOOO boring with such a simplistic transformation that it makes me almost totally lose interest in him...although when i think of it as a G1 homage, it is kinda cool.
And Powerglide just looks flat out awesome, except for that head mold. something about it bugs me.

Dude, you just freaked over a few quotation marks.
Rodr-Evil:
I want both!

Silverbolt-HASBRO
Powerglide-TAKARA
Kingplay:
i wonder how good the pose-ability is on those figures
General Tekno:
Silverbolt doesn't have waist articulation, but otherwise he's pretty posable.
Predaking:
I am not collecting either since my brother is the one with Autobots but I will say that Henkei would be my preferred manufacturer for these two toys simply for the G1 accurate colors, although to save money I'll just settle for Henkei 'Glide and Hasbro 'Bolt.
