New Hasbro Transformers Universe Webisode Online 1
Hasbro has updated their Monkeybar webisode section with a new Transformers Universe animated clip! The clip is an interesting mixture of the Classics Universe and G1 characters that retells the origin of the Transformers arrival to Earth. Check out the clip here, and share your thoughts in our ongoing discussion.

Fairlady_Z:
Animation and VA could be better, but still it's cool to see Hasbro try something like this.
dare:
Where did they pick up their artist? Kindergarten?
ToddJumper:
Raping my childhood once again. I could have done better animation and they didnt even attempt to make Prime's voice sound good- Peter Cullen too busy I guess. I have seen fanmade stuff better than this.
Johnator:
I haven't been this disappointed since I first saw Animated. Just terrible stuff.
Hiro Prime:
Welp, 24 hours later and I've tallied up the first reaction responses in this thread and have come up with an over all assesment so far.

Positive responses: 16

Middle of the road responses: 18

Negative responses: 70

So, with a little over 4 to 1 margin, I'd say the fans have spoken...

The webisode sucked.
Feralstorm:
I'll agree that it looks like a lot of fan-works, and there's very little real animation to it, more of a moving slideshow sort of thing. I think it works fairly well for what it is. Then again, I have an understanding of the amount of work that goes into animation in general, even simple Flash works, so I'm not inclined to bash.
Harbinger:
i found pretending i had a giger counter using the pick a brand bar up the top more exciting then that webisode.
Velcrohead:
For those of you who are saying "it's just marketing..."

Well, shouldn't "marketing" stuff feature toys that are, oh I don't know, actually AVAILABLE IN THE LINE?

I mean, geez, even Prime and Bumblebee aren't being sold in stores anymore (unless you count 25th ann. Prime and Legacy of BB). I mean, c'mon, Thrust? Frenzy?

LAZY animation, too.

This webisode is crap on a fucking stick.

Have you polled the target audience for that video? If not, the fans haven't spoken. The adult fandom has spoken, but it's not geared towards us.

Feedback from the adult fanbase isn't going to change the purpose of this video, so those who didn't like the content can expect more of it.

Well said my friend, I think is just to make little kids aware of TF history. I must say the drawings are not champ but something is better then nothing. I hope they continue to do things like this as if the demand is there maybe we can get a TFU tv series. To much TF haters as of late on these boards. I think people just like to bitch without thinking things out. my 2 cents.

Also, just because something is meant to be for free doesn't mean it's okay to put out some cheap garbage and call it a day.
Why not? Cheap garbage sells VERY well. Look at South Park. That tv show costs next to nothing to produce, the animation is technically horrible, yet it award-winning. This is a quick web ad, not much different from the little "click on the duck and win a PS3" blurbs.

No, in America, many of us are proud of our service men and women, and honor them. I understand that you are from Germany, and have no reason to feel supportive of your military, but DON'T claim that one's patriotism is a distraction.

Just because something is aimed at kids doesn't mean it needs to suck. That's the popular cop out - "it's for kids, so... whatever." Let's put aside the "fan" and "hater" talk. The fact is: it's shockingly sub-par even for kids and the target demographic.

I'm sorry, Tim, I was under the impression that the kids were not counted as fans. That only collectors and other teens/adults were fans that counted as only 10% of the market. So, while the responses are from the 10% of the target market, I figured it represented 100% of the average TF fanbase.

Of course it's not realy aimed at us, but Kids like quality too, even if they don't understand the concept.

And to webz' comment about badly drawn shows like South Park, he discounts that while drawn in a simple style, it is hardly done badly and the writing is excellent.

It's so the target audience, kids, and see it and say "I want that blue jet and the red one with the pointy head! Um..what's 'exclusive' mean? I DON'T CARE I WANT IT!"
and it begins for a whole new generation.

No, in America, this still has nothing to do with this thread.
JusticeSabre:
Wack.

I would have rather seen them just animate new footage over the original G1 audio.
Or just NOT do this at all, and do quality shorts like they're doing for G.I. Joe.

This is not good.

If it has nothing to do with the thread, it's a distraction. No matter what country you live in.

I don't just randomly post about German national holidays in unrelated threads either.
