to the best of my knowledge, we havent seen the backs of their boxes, or actual production box pictures of either one of them outside of official hasbro photos. I assume if we had, their bios would be in the resource section already.
I just recieved both of them today, retail via toywiz.com, and have taken some new pictures of their boxes. I can also confirm that ratchet, unlike many pre-production samples (including those seen in the feedback forum) DOES have the red paint details on his hood. Ratchet Bio and Tech Specs:
Back on Cyberton, Autobot Ratchet was the best mechanic and machinist around. the only thing that kept him from true greatness was the constant partying. Years of war and a series of tragic encounters with Megatron have tempered his good nature, leaving him with a melancholy edge and a sour bedside manner. he's still the finest medic the autobots have at their disposal, but these days he's more distracted by his bad memories than his late nights.

yes. it really says "constant partying". Hot Shot Bio and Tech Specs:
Impatient, impulsive, and actually sometimes kind of annoying, Hot Shot is young, but full of potential. Optimus Prime sees in him the qualities of a great leader, and has taken it upon himself to mentor the young warrior in the ways of command. His mini-con partner Jolt tries his best to keep his erratic behavior under control, but Hot Shot is quite skilled in ignoring the voice or reason. He's also obsessed with something called JAAM, which most autobots think is some obscure fuel source, but no one knows for sure .

Hot Shot with other Hot Shots: cougarcat13t:
Awesome!! That Hot Shot looks so much better than the original!!
Sso02V:
Apparently Ratchet's gun shoots pills...awesome.
MushroomPrime:
omfg, that JAAM rocks
Takara_destron:
Hot Shot: Best bio EVER
Master Fwiffo:
Seriously? No, SERIOUSLY?
JaAM. SERIOUSLY?
0R10N P4X:
Ratchet is so ugly in vehicle mode... what were they thinking?
Valkysas:
he actually looks pretty nice in person. just really busy.
the dull white they used is my biggest complaint.
Wheeljack_Prime:
Wow. Hot shot's bio is easily the best bio in a long time. At least since that fake bio for animated wreck-gar that appeared a few months ago.

Man, I never got into Armada cuz the toys were so "playskool" but I love that they added JaAm to his bio!
Fit For natalie:
Hot Shot's bio is the greatest bio in the history of the universe. Well done, Hasbro!
Ziero:
.....I was going to wait until the JP Hotshot came out to get the one that comes with his guns...but screw that. That bio is too awesome for me to not give my money to Hasbro.
And Ratchet's bio seems to have a bit of Animated Ratchet's personality mixed in, I mean, I never used to link "sour bedside manner" with Ratchet until after Animated. Still won't get him though because I think the mold is ass, but it's still a good bio.
Deefuzz:
I'm digging Ratchet...Will pass on Hot Shot.
Radioactive Ravage:
I might have to get that Hotshot... just to frame his card back.

I think I'll have to go for the Hasbro version of Hotshot after seeing and reading that
Digilaut:
Ratchet, constant partying? That doesn't really sound right...
Hot Shot's bio is pure gold. It's way up there with Animated Skywarp and his 'Galactic Powers & Abilities' of getting shot in the back!
Valkysas:
The JAAM license plate was great, but what really makes Universe Hot Shot so damn wonderful is that since it's in the Bio, Hot Shot is officially, now and forever, obsessed with JAAM.
I just cannot get over how awesome that is. I NEVER expected it to be in the bio.
Da_Razorsaw:
JaAm as a comic came dangerously close to insulting the handicapped.
And what's more, this bio turns Hot Shot into a parody of himself.
DUR HUR HOT SHOT IS ANNOYING DOESN'T LISTEN TO PEOPLE ARMADA SUCKS HA HA BUY HIM BECAUSE HE'S HILARIOUS

| yes. buy him because the bio and license plate are hilarious.
I urge everyone to do this.

Not only is it hilarious, it's a shout out to the fans and another case of the official people canonising a fan term and in-joke.

would it have been as charming to make a Wheelie with a toy that says "everyone hates him?"
Dom:
Cool 2 more for the list. Armada was never really my bag, but the figure is spot on Valkysas: Quote: |

WTF | as well. His young self definitely sounds like the average medical student when they're done with a block/rotation.
And gotta love Hotshot's bio to boot. And never really appreciated the "JAam" joke til' someone posted a thread in GD about a month ago...
Laser_Optimus:
Love Hot Shot's bio. Definently written more for the fans then the kids... frankly I'm actually surprised that the part about him being annoying got in there.
Optimus747:
Wow, Hot Shot's bio is one of the most awesome things Hasbro has ever done.
jaAm!

As for Wheelie... as a hard core G1 lover... I'm going to say YES! I would love a deluxe Wheelie to come with a bio that stated that he's hated/annoying/irritating or just plain not thought very highly of. It'd be awesome IMPO. Frankly, while were at it, I'd dig a Rodimus bio that mentioned his emoness just because it'd be a hoot.
Also, let me just say, that as a character I've always appreciated Hot Shot, but that I do find him to be kind of annoying sometimes. Especially in Armada... so the bio sits just fine with me as, IMO, it expresses the truth of the character.
Eric:
*Head explodes from Hasbro actually mentioning JaAm in Hot Shot's bio*
Okay, shouldn't the universe explode right now because of this?
Grimlock_13: awesome bio for Hot Shot.
These two need to be released right now.
Deadsled:
Ratchet's "Medical Dispenser" makes me scratch my head... "Here I'll fix you up! (hoses down unsuspecting bot head to toe plate in green "medical stuff")
brianstowell:
will be buying
Moonscream:
We need to find out who's been writing these awesome bios and give 'em kudos.
I can't believe they used the JaAm...

JAAM is canon?? I might as well go kill myself now. The politics of this hobby is losing my interest

DieMaus:
Jeeeeeze. I was already slightly tempted to buy this Hot Shot, despite not being a Universe OR an Armada collector, but this bio just clinches it; that the substance "jaAm" has now been canonised as an legitimate, Hasbro-approved entity in the official TF canon is so astonishingly ridiculous that it swings all the way round to becoming awesome.
Having said that, now watch the fun-hating designers of the EU TF packaging hack all that awesomeness out with their hideous multi-lingual butcherings. Looks like I'll be importing this one...
Da_Razorsaw:
I'm going to have to apologize. Certain aspects of the bio are... well, in character, and I overreacted a bit. Or rather, a lot.
I apologize.
But the JaAm thing is f@#$%ing stupid and insulting.
Goshjosh95:
Haha, I love Hot Shot's bio! It's nice to see Hasbro giving the fans a treat & having some fun. The universe version is a great update of Armada Hot Shot, a definite must-buy for me.
Now if they'd only make a new version of Armada Wheeljack to pose alongside him... SmokescreenGT:
Both bios rock. I especially like the bit about Ratchet partying too much. Nice touch.
Orion_Prime48:
wow they just made a ton of fans have fangasm's but putting JaAm in that bio
Autobotic9:
Alright. Now I NEED to get Hot Shot. His Mold looks awesome. AND JaAm!!!
And Ratchet's a party animal. WTF lol
Rattrap:
Ok, Im a bit out of the loop here, because I wasnt in the really a member of the fan community at the time of Armada(I was still playing with my toys then, not a collector) What exactly is JaAM?
Omnius:
Ladies and gentlemen, we have the two BEST character bios. Ever!
bellpeppers:
These look pretty sharp.
Depending on my mood, I may or may not pick up HotShot.
Ratchet is a definite buy... but probably one one of the last ones I get. Hopefully there's a Red Alert out there on the horizon.
