What a great looking headsculpt!

i'll always wish he was a little less boxy in the body, but DAMN is that one incredible sculpt, top tp bottom. I'm really impressed with how good he looks from behind.

Yeah but it beats having no wing homage at all IMO.

I currently own none of the Universe Classics guys, but this really might be the one to tide me over.
Out of all the newer Classics, this is the only one that has "wow'ed" me to the extent of wanting to buy him.

And so he does have his head wings. lol Yeah, that was something I as well thought about when I first saw him. Mind you, it never really bothered me that he might not have them. But yeah, that's cool that they're there in some form.
Actually, and watch out gee woners, I think the wings look cooler pointed back like this, rather then how they were on his G1 version. Which to be honest, I always thought made him look like he was the top head of a totem pole.

That is one awesome toy, I hope the paint on the front is not crappy.

The pics look great! On the downside, are Vangelus and I the only two that have figured out that the forearm panels rotate out of the way of the hands?

Seconded I liked the figure overall, but the sculpt on the head immediately grabbed me due to the detail and the apparent thought that went into it.

Think of it as miniaturization of technology. I'm not quite sure what Inferno's wings were ever supposed to do, but it sure wasn't to help him fly. So maybe it was some sort of antenna, or sensor array, or something? If that's the case, then maybe his more modern form found a way to make the technology smaller and more compact.

So G1 Inferno's wings are to Universe Inferno's wings as old brick-sized 80's cell phones are to tiny modern cell phones. Why carry around cumbersome wings when you can have teeny ones attached right to your head?

As a further observation, with his squarish windshield-chest, large head and lack of wings or shoulder-mounted ladder assembly, Universe Inferno almost looks more like his Actionmaster counterpart than like his G1 counterpart.

thats one of the better universe updates weve had, it looks really neat and tidy and with great proportions, the head sculpt is excellent.

doubt it. takara isnt practical in chroming henkei figures at all aside from optimus, mirage, and sunstreaker.

looking at the majority of henkei releases that includes randomly chromed spoilers, boosters, and chairs. I expect the only chrome Inferno will have in the henkei release will be the windshield.

I'm serious. currently we have chrome chair, right arm, headlights... windshield just seems like it would come next. or maybe the tires.

Inferno looks great all around. I do miss those wings as that made it easier to diffentiate him from Grapple besides color but other than that he looks fantastic. A Must buy.

IMO, he's worth the retail voyager price. so much so, that i'll be getting 2 (or maybe 1 Hasbro and 1 Henkei)

Inferno fuckin' rules!!! I can't wait for him!!!

I gotta say, the more I see of this figure, the more I lurrrrrve him. He seems to be just the right balance of old-school boxy proportions and new engineering. The headsculpt is a particular highlight.

I'm a bit surprised that Hasbro went the way they did with this figure, as he doesn't repaint easily into many other characters... even if they use their "new trick" of designing resculpted option parts as part of the original mold, I can't see this going very far.

I mean, Artfire? Hosehead? A not-particularly-accurate Hotspot? He's so identifiably a fire truck, that I think Grapple might be out of the running.
