Afterburner:
Sure can. Ramjet's Henkei release was pretty much spot-on to how he was depicted on the show vs the original toy. The original toy had black toes, black lower arms/fists, etc, but the show had white lower arms (black hands), and white toes with a black interior just like the Henkei release. The only real liberties taken were with the lower legs.
However, for the show both Thrust and Dirge follow the toy pattern more closely, with black lower arms and black toes. The Henkei toys don't follow this and instead copy Ramjet's pattern. They just seem to take 1 too many liberties for a Henkei release.
It should be noted though that Thrust's pelvis is red and not black on the show, but the original toy had a black pelvis so the Henkei toy having one doesn't bother me as much.
Those things are not a huge deal though. Thrust's unpainted landing gear bother me the most.
dark69:
damn ramjets the only one with out chrome guns
DazzalingFury:
Nice, i like the wing molds i'll definitely be looking out for these when they come out
MetroBoy:
Kind of makes me apreciate my Botcon versions more. I was under the understanding that the Japanese versions were supposed to be more "toon" accurate. These seem more inplace with some of the paint apps that we saw durring the first waive of the American Classics series.
Omnius:
That's £74.99 saved...
Kusanagi:
Eh. It's still a cheaper way for me to get the other two Coneheads.
Takara_destron:
I love these. Pity I cant afford them
Razorclaw:
Dirge is a MUST, Thrust is a BIG PASS!
Draven:
Hrm.
Dirge looks gorgeous. I love the new wings. Thrust, on the other hand, not so good. I'll still be getting them both, but it'll be Botcon Thrust that gets displayed while Henkei Thrust sits in his packaging.
Obvious Prime:
Nice.
I'm happy with my Botcon Dirge, so I'll be passing on this one.
I really like this Thrust, and I don't have the Botcon one. So he's a must buy.
Hiro Prime:
I like the new Dirge and will be happy to add him to my collection. Thrust will probably stay on his card as I prefer the Botcon version already on my shelf.

True, but I'm still gonna have to call my friend in Japan to hook me up!

It's nice at least that they molded new wings at least, but ya, covering the vtol?
Autovolt 127:
there nice but i'l pass for now....i'l wait later once the price goes down.

The prices of Henkei TC and SW have gone up, not down...
Astrotrain52:
So how much will these guys be shooting for, $90 each? As nice as they are, I'm not gonna pay around the same price Skywarp and Thundercracker were being asked for.

That right there is why Henkei Thrust rocks.
Devastattor:
They're odd but cool. Still, I find myself struggling with buying these versus a BotCon set on Ebay to complete my set.

Yup, that's what I'll be doing. I am looking forward to getting both of these, but Botcon Thrust definitely wins the shelf space.
Trailbreaker77:
I will be getting both.

Thundercracker:
Glad I only preordered Dirge as Thrust is the only Botcon seeker I gave in and bought on ebay...Dirge's wings will definately be getting the alcohol bath to remove those fugly paint apps.

Agreed. WTF is up with the patterns. Did not need that at all.....hmmmm...
And VTOL propellers covered = defeats the purpose.

What do you mean? He did it with photoshop.

OK, so anyone succeeded in pre-ordering them from the sites that sell them? or do they still only ship to Japan?
I really want to get them, but not for the insane prices TC and Skywarp went for.
I agree, Thrust"s VTOL is 100% sure to be removable. This is for two reasons:
1. It can be packaged this way as seen and then the Collector's Club guys cannot complain that it looks like their version.
2. Look closer - you'll notice, that unlike on the other seekers, Thrust's large wing is fixed to his body on two places... and is thus not rotatable 180 degrees! Thus, if the VTOL would be mounted on top of the wing in plane mode, it'd be on the backside of the robot in robot mode. This is the reason it's removable (has to be), so it can be mounted on the underside of the wing in robot mode to provide the classic look.
Also... the VTOL having a peg the same size as the rocket launchers also means it could be mounted on Thrust's shoulders, or be used as a shield in his hands!
Xhairs:
ok hasbro can you please redo these molds to make them mass retail as they look great but i just cant see paing that much for them.

I know it is photoshopped my question is "what is assumed?". Is the thrusts spilt in half and put back together on the wing? Or does it just sit on top of the wing? Does it just have a peg like the gun? Either way I am getting it I just wanted to know how we are assuming it can be put together.
alien:
hell yeah~ Grap it!!
r'Ne:
Oh.. I'm disappointed how Dirge's and Thrust's paint apps turned out. It's a pitty, because I like Dirge mold so much
When they where announced, I had high expectations about these two. I guess Takara Tomy saved me some money.
Baccala1976:
Thank GOD that the Botcon Thrust looks much better than that abomination that Henkei is releasing.

Unless you were being sarcastic you do because that Thrust looks like garbage!
Satomiblood:
These look pretty cool. Since I bit the bullet and got myself Henkei TC and SW recently, I'll probably do the same with these guys.
Baccala1976:
The only good thing coming out of Henkei Thrust is that the Botcon one will definately NOT go down in value now.
Also, even if the engines are removable and are able to be placed on top of the wings, it's still going to look very odd.
Tenebrouser:
Wow, these pics saved me money. Thrust looks like....well.....yuck. The stripes on Dirge's wings look like ass.
I'm so thankful for Botcon's versions.
aprim:
If Thurst engines are removable then it may be cool. But Dirge is nice..whats with that funky ass design. That was a pure WIN without the design for sure.

As many have said before, Keep Dreaming. They are already out here from Botcon. Hence the reason why Tak/Tomy did them in this way. SO they would look different from the botcon ones. We MAY see these domestically, however don't count on them being Dirge and Thrust, rather just generic seekers.
B-Fox:
Looking good...but will the QC be utter shit like the last Henkai exclusives? Lot of folks seem to be forgetting about that.
I really hope there was a lesson learned from Thundercracker and Skywarp and TakTomy puts extra care in these, since I really want that Thrust and Dirge, too.
In b4 "My Henkai Thundercracker and Skywarp were in excellent condition!"
Bodhar2000:
Why don't I save you all the trouble and call ToyMarket tomorrow and see if those wings for Thrust are removable or not (but chances are they won't know).
And for everyone that keeps Pming me I am still selling the pair for $130 SHIPPED, meaning the shipping price is already included. I use a slightly more expensive shipping method than other sellers because it provides tracking, insurance and typically takes under a week to get to your home.
Megatronwp38:
Did Thrust have a white face in the G1 Cartoon? It's been so long since I have watched it I don't remember.
Optimist_Prime:
Seems I'm with the majority of this thread.
I'm just gonna stick with my BotCon Thrust.
Dirge + wing alcohol soak =
Big Filipino:
I was considering selling my Botcon 2007 set to get the Henkei versions but after seeing the pictures, I'm going to stick with what I got. I think these look terrible.
Ravenxl7:
Actually, other than the chrome, these look really good, imo. I'm actually hoping Hasbro makes these too, and by the looks of them, they should be different enough from the Botcon one's for them to be able to do it (imo at least). Though if I were to get these, or hopefully the eventual Hasbro versions, I would switch out the missles for Ramjet one's. That way the coneheads have something else that matches about them.
Edit: The more I look at these, the more they seem to have Hasbro written all over them. I can see these retools seeing US mass release at some point. Though they might even be store exclusives, and possibly in two-packs, once the Movie line starts. Would be cool to see these two in two-packs with Red Alert and either Ratchet or Wheeljack.

One can only hope.
on_a_warpath:
NO! I had such high hopes for these...
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sad now.
I wanted my Thrust...
taterx:
Wow! That is the first time I can remember Tak/Tom ever totally F'ing up toys w/ bad color schemes. And Thrust, nice wings...for me to poop on.
Fosterlager:
Maybe Thrust was deliberately done as a partsformer as a G1 homage.
Lupis Convoy:
Wow.. way to go Thrust, now you can blow your own tail fins off in vehicle mode.
Dirge looks pretty good.. but honestly, I've been in the camp of "WTF, Why did I buy the 2007 Boxset then?" I'm pretty much in that camp as we've been seeing near duplicate releases between botcon exclusives and takara lately... (Wildrider/SG Hotrod, the other seekers.) I jsut don't want to beat a dead horse.
I like though, how the wings look on Dirge, I really do. I'm not sure it's worth it to me to go and buy and extra version of this. Not for a little bit of extra paint and a wing mod for the estimated american price.
GrimlockAutobot:
Those look bad.
Chaosbringer:
ok, i'll get the two, specially because thrusts vtol engines can be moved around to the larger wings having a gun like post, but...
shouldn't dirge have new guns?
i mean, ramjet had different ones(the missile part), thrust always had normal seeker guns, but dirge had different ones from everybody.
if not, he should at least come with ramjet's.. just my 2 cents
