Henkei Thrust and Dirge Photos on Gambo

Henkei Thrust and Dirge Photos on Gambo TF1113_02
Some sleuthing on Japanese retailer Ganbo's website has turned up the full-color photos for the eagerly-awaited Henkei exclusives Thrust and Dirge. Thanks to OzFormers' kurdt_the_goat for the nice find!

The photos confirm the two Decepticon Ramjet repaints will both have remolded wings and new paint apps. And from the looks of Thrust's wings, his VTOL engines appear to be able to be removed from the robot's lower legs and mounted on the top of the main wing in jet mode!

Spiffy, I'm glad I have mine preordered.I just hope they don't have the same problem as my Henkei Thundercracker.

Fear not!!!

Looks like the VTOL things may be detachable and can be posted on the holes in the tops of the wings! I think they are detachable so in robot mode those VTOL's are closer to the leg part (ala G1)... I may be WAYYY off but...

They are which is cartoon accurate for both characters and toy accurate for Thrust (and arguably more accurate for Dirge as well).

Because that would infringe on the Botcon Exclusivity. To me the VTOL Thrusters on the tail would make him flip upside down when activated.
giga-galvatron:
They used a white face for Thrust!! A white face!!! YES!! March 09 cant come fast enough. I need these guys now!!!

I went with BBTS because I like the "we don't charge until the item ships" deal they have.
DJCHARTERS:
ive ordered these fcrom bodhar. i love them, a bit confused by thrust wings but A its thrust and B they look removable and C im a completist....gotta have em all
Emperor Zarak:
sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet
Lucs:
Wow looks a bit photoshopped to me. The designs on Dirge look way too wonky with the d-con symbol on top and bottom of the wings
shibamura_prime:
Digging that Dirge. Thrust with the wonky wings and his crazy lightning bolts not so much.
Lumpy:
i like dirge...and need him for my dirge collection...

but man, thrust, i sure am glad i got him from botcon...cuz this one looks kinda sucktastic...even if his thrusters move, i still prefer botcon...

and i bet they made dirge look different so that his wings dont look too similar...

Lucs, the D-con symbol on top and bottom of the wings seems to be a common trend with the Henkei versions of the Seekers.
Peanut04:
Well I'm still not sure how I feel about them. Their paint is a bit flashy and Thrusts wings are just odd. I really want to find out more about it. I have them preordered and that isn't going to change.
Tober:
Overdrive has preorders for $50 each + shipping. They are exclusives so contact is through email LINK

Fan to Fan has preorders for $49 each + shipping. All orders through F2F are by email through their siteLINK

Robotkingdom.com will probably have a preorder up soon too.
BigRC83:
Dirge looks fantastic except for the designs on the wings. Thrust looks fantastic also except for the designs and the fact that the propellers are covered in jetmode. It maybe mistransformed. It is kinda of a tough call for these.

And some fans will still ignorantly claim them as the most cartoon accurate, bad ass toys to ever exist, because Takara is ALWAYS PERFIKTZZZZZ
benzo:
I guess they design Thrust's wings like that so it doesn't devalue the botcon Thrust?
Omnibus Prime:
I really like Dirge's new wings, and don't mind Thrust's wonky VTOL fans (particularly if they do turn out to be detachable and able to be placed on the larger wings). But, good lord, those wing stripes are a deal-breaker. If they were normal deluxe Henkei price, maybe, but not at >$100 for the pair.

Guess I'll just have to live with these here Botcon versions.
Railguard:
A hundred dollars for the two of them???!!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh, sorry thats just freaking funny.
mainframe:
they are some ugly transformers makes me happy i already got the classic ones
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
Wow Thrust is mighty screwed up there. Dirge looks decent, both passes for me for the price they cost though.
dark69:
man i love them!!! hasbro must do them!
lars573:
I'm getting both. Thrust looks pretty much like I though he would. Dirge looks great.

I'd guess it was because the Botcon toys were such slavish copies of the G1 toy deco(s). Interesting the difference makes these more "Classics" in that regard.

Dirge looks OK, though the wings and canards come off kinda awkward in robot mode. The wing deco is a little over-the-top too, but the total package is pretty nice. Thrust looks like a total failure to me, unless those VTOL fans can be unpegged from the tail and moved to the wings. (looks like they probably can, if having holes completely through the wings is any indication.)

If availability and price were not factors (too bad they are, eh?) I'd say Botcon wins on both counts, even with Dirge being a simple repaint there.
revlimiter:
canceled my Dirge & Thrust preorder after seeing these pix. Then I placed a new order for just Dirge.

yup. that'll be good.
Robogeek28:
Wow, so much hate for these guys now.

Well I love them and can't WAIT for March to get here!
guarddog8471:
If you guys look at the VTOL engines, there is a peg like protrusion in the middle of the fan. That would allow you to put the VTOL on the top of the wings, and the bottom of the wings in robot mode as well. Look at the holes in the main wings, the holes are right through them. Makes sense.

BTW, I preordered through Bodhar. I missed out on Botcon seekers, but I am taking advantage of these!! Who cares about the decos on the wings? Be glad we have a chance to own them! (No offense to the Botcon owners is intended)
frilly toothpick:
dont like the stripes but they can always be removed. need to start saving up for these bad boys.
guarddog8471:
Of course, I am sure all of us who get these are hoping the QC is a little bit better. After all, we shouldn't have to deal with loose launchers in robot mode. Nothing a little clear nail polish won't fix. That is what I fixed Thundercracker with.
Wyvern:
Damn, they kinda suck. Well not really but I am a little disappointed. I want to see the VTOL fans on the wings of Thrust.

How easy/hard would it be to remove those stupid paint apps off these guy's wings??
Tober:
Here'sa quick photochop hack of what they would look like if they can be removed

They help to hide the wing stripes too
kurdt_the_goat:
A photoshop of Thrust with the VTOL's on the main wings:

mr_soundwave:
These figures are awesome. I am glad I placed my pre-order. It is a bit weird how the henkei dirge and thrust fit in with the classics ramjet, and the botcon classics thrust and dirge fit in with the henkei ramjet...very round about, but it works.
mr_soundwave:
That looks pretty good, all said and done, my only toy complaint for this thrust is that the wings look skinny and the missles look massive...oh well

Thrust's engines were never placed in any fashion remotely plausible for realistic flight.

So, you have a choice between two different aesthetics of inherently unfeasible aircraft.
Tober:
I guess you could position the guns on the rear wings then...

It's fine with me. Less demand = lower prices in the long run
TFmarvel:
Yeah Thrust is wierd in his jet mode, but in robot mode Awesome

Dirge looks great in both modes

Rubbing alcohol and a q-tip...
Optimus997:
All I gotta say is my Seeker collection will finally be complete! Now the only question remaining is: how much they gonna be? It sounds like they should be on par with TC and Skywarp, but if I remember correctly some online sites are asking around 170 for the both of them, which seems like a severe markup.

I've always been curious about this. Does doing that damage the plastic at all? Fades or discolors it or leaves any kind of marks?
LigerPrime:
Darn it! I shouldn't have come into this thread! I am so tempted to pick both of them up now!

Otherwise there's that Bodhar2000 guy.
evebird:
Wow, I think I liked the plain black shadow versions better. Not digging the funky wing stripes. And the Thrust VTOL engines are weird. Even if they can be moved. Eh, I was set to buy these, but now I'm not so sure. Count me disappointed with the final product. BotCon versions are nicer.

Oh hell yes I hope that can happen because that looks 1000x better than the picture we're seeing.

These are not up to the overall quality I expect from TakaraTomy but I'm sure Hasbro put some pressure on them after they saw how well Skywarp and Thundercracker did. The 2 biggest problems I have aren't the new patterns on the wings but rather how the robot modes follow Ramjet's lead, which is not how Thrust and Dirge were represented on the show. It isn't horrible but it bugs me. Also, looks like Thrust will be the only seeker not to have the side of his chest/landing gear painted to match the rest of the chest. I really liked that feature on the Henkei releases and I think that bugs me here the most. I am hoping that will change...

Thrust having the gray face though? Niiiiiiiiice.....
Autobot Spike:

this = win for me. i was hating the whole aesthetic... but yes. guns attach to the back, VTOL engines up front...
course i might just mod the wings... cut out the pegholes altogether and just attach the vtols permanently.. tack the outside edge of the wing to the... well you get the idea. it's a quick and easy mod.. just don't know if i want to do that to a $50 toy... Dirge suits me just fine weird paint and all.

I'd like to think I'm pretty up on the G1 knowledge, but I'm not really following you here. Save for a couple of nuances here or there like face & eye color differences, I always considered the coneheads more or less clones of each other the same way SS/TC/SW were. Same heads, same wing placements in bot modes, same general alt modes, etc.

Can you elaborate?
