Art is nice though.

I like the chrome gun because it reminds me of the one on his weapons platform on the G1 toy. It's like when he got upgraded he insisted that Wheeljack keep the old missile launcher and adapt it for mounting on his arm.

Old guys like Ironhide get sentimental about their old weaponry.

Was this before or after he told Wheeljack to give him an actual head?

I got the custom heads for Ironhide and Ratchet for my Encores, btw. They're pretty damn sweet.

I wouldnt buy Henkei for the chrome, i would buy them for the box art. ^^

Chrome guns were common place in G1 though. Better a chrome gun than random chrome on the actual toy I suppose.

Wouldn't that have been a funny nod to G1 if they had somehow had the seats transform into his head? I'd chuckle.

I hope that these make the next shipment that the store I frequent is getting.

They'll be getting a bunch of figures in probably next month, as they've been waiting on more stock before getting them all shipped. He'll be getting everyone from Sunstreaker/Prowl onward in this shipment, so hopefully Ironhide/Galvy make it.

Especially since there's no Henkeis in the previous waves I'm interested in (except maybe Sunstreaker - have to see him in person first).

Don't see the appeal of this figure over the Hasbro version.

I think the appeal, Kickback, is the windows and the stripe.

Myself, I'm convinced the Henkei deco is far superior. Mind you, I know not everyone's going to agree with me.

I'll admit that the two figures are pretty close - but Henkei Ironhide appears to have a better deco and darker shade of red.

Dude, Ironhide got the SHAFT back in the 80s. He didn't even get an Action Master do-over. I would have been ok with the Universe version if not for the whole "holding my breath, underwater looking for Seaspray" face paint app. I'll kick in an extra ten to get the best version of the old boy.

The front grill is not chromed on Henkei Ironhide...

It's just silver paint, like on Universe Ironhide. Only the head/tail lights and the gun are chromed.

Minimal changes, though admittedly for the better, that can easily be done to the Hasbro version if one desires...for much cheaper than it is to buy this to boot.

I don't really get it either.

I guess a lot of it has to do with the built up TAKARA IS ALWAYS WAY BETTER stigma going on, and people being so insanely crazy about this or that color being in the right place that they'll pay way more for the one that's a little closer.

Paint or chrome, it's not a dealbreaker on my end. That Papa Smurf face was though.

Quite obvious it's only silver paint. Otherwise, it would be mirror-like like the other chromed parts. The should have chromed the brushguard and the bumpers instead.

WTF?????? I really hate these henkie things. I have to pay around 29 bucks extra just so i can get a ironhide without retarted blue paint and to have some crome weapon... lame, but yet ill still probaly buy him.

The Henkei looks great but I didn't care for the chrome weapon and I fixed the face with a silver sharpie. But hey, to each his/her own. It's a fun mould, regardless of the Hasbro/Taktomy differences.

Believe it or not, tons of fans are constantly complaining about the "random use of chrome". So yes, paint vs chrome might be "serious business" to some.

When mine arrives, I'll use it as a mirror to shave with. If I cut my throat, you win.

That is nice package art though, and the red painted bits look nice and glossy there, so (hopefully) less prone to the stickly-smudge that's been plaguing certain Universe and Animated toys lately.

Yes it's considerably darker. The red on the Universe one is very light (almost like cherry chapstick) while the Henkei one's is darker like the G1 figure.

Personally,it looks more G1 accurate than the Universe version.Once again Henkei triumphs over Universe

I love the artwork on these packages over the ones we get.

I just bought Ironhide and Galvatron this evening at Hobby Base Yellow Submarine. Henkei Ironhide does not have a chrome grill. Only his gun, front headlights, and rear taillights are chrome.

His gun's blade is the same shade of translucent blue as his windshield and his eyes. He is more solid during the transformation than the Universe version.

Galvatron is more solid as well. Nothing fell or popped off when I transformed him the first time. Very Solid !!

Pics included. Please note that Galvatron is not the light powder blue that is seen in my pictures. He is a much deeper purple in person. My digital camera just can't capture that shade of purple no matter what setting I tried. The red chrome on Galv's abdomen is excellent!

Its funny that you guys keep saying that Henkei is so much better, you hate them but you "gotta have it" and you wish hasbro could do the same. Hasbros are $8, Henkeis are $30+, you are paying that much more and you swear that the Henkeis are top quality. Its like Toyota and Lexus, same thing/huge price difference.

Well to be honest, Henkei deluxes are really only 1850 yen at most shops in Tokyo. I know of only two ridiculously high priced shops that sell the Henkei deluxes at Takara/Tomy's MSRP of 2310 yen.

For us living in the Asia, the price for both Hasbro and TakaraTomy TFs are quite comparable.

In the uk:

Cost of deluxes: £13 / $19

Cost to import Henkei: £16 / $23

So it doesnt make much difference to us which we go for....
