And re: Hasbro shutting them down - I'm well aware it's REALLY pushing the envelope, but by the same token this isn't iGear with their blatant knockoffs of Hasbro designs.
It's a figure that realistically isn't gonna compete all that much with Hasbro's offerings. There isn't a Springer on the market (not counting the Legends/Robot Heroes) and it's gonna be at a much higher pricepoint to boot, so the main demographic that buys it will be the people who buy all of HasTak's stuff anyway.

This is definitely interesting.
It's not like they're the first to try and make toys inspired by a character from G1 who's been a little under-loved. And Springer has never really had a major update, unlike Hot Rod and Arcee.
FansProject is just likely the first to actually pull off some sort of sizeable release of it.
Still, I hope this comes out. I really hope Hasbro sees this is a collector-only item that covers a niche that they just can't cover economically.
... though, with Bludgeon coming out, one wonders about that.

I LOVE Defender, and I agree that he does NOT remind me of any previous character or design in anyway. We ALL need to be very clear about that.
In all fairness this thing IS very different from all previous toy and animation designs. Sure there's a certain familiarity in color scheme and play-pattern, but there's about 10 billion "Fattimus Prime" cheap-o bots that are much more blatant.
Let's remember to call him Defender, and I doubt Hasbro will really have any GROUNDS (reason, yes, grounds, no) to take any action on this.
