| First Look: New Transformers Universe Whirl, Sandstorm and Optimus Prime On Ebay |

The three items, listed by eBay seller tfcoy, are for Whirl and Sandstorm, a pair of helicopters based on the Transformers Energon combiner helicopter brothers Blackout and Stormcloud. The auctions are rounded out by a new Deluxe class Optimus Prime. This toy is a redeco of the Transformers Cybertron Deluxe in a more "classic" color scheme.

The more I think about it, the more I think the names in the auctions could just be names the seller gave them. The V-1 on Whirl makes me think it's actually Vortex. Either way the Sandstorm's actual name will more than likely start with an S because of the $-like symbol on him. Swindle, while not a good name for a helicopter imo, is a possibility. I personally think that these two are part of a Gestalt 5-pack. Hopefully it isn't too long till we get some actual info about these guys.

In addition to the "V1" and "$" details, the colors sorta match up - Vortex is mostly gray and Swindle is mostly tan. Not much to assume the Kickback/Blight mold will be Brawl and Barricade Onslaught (if they allow two Onslaughts in Universe, that is - likely not an issue). I wonder if the second tank would be the "Blast off" in the group, or (better) they swap out one of the Aerialbot limb-bots (the wedge-shaped jet would probably be a decent match, but would require remolding the Autobot symbol )

Prowl works in both lines because G1 Prowl and Animated Prowl look way different from each other. Universe Ratchet will probably come down the pipe later just because of Animated Ratchet.
So if this Helicoptor is Swindle, it looks nothing like the Animated one so there's no issues.

DN | Yep, the rule deals with more than just the name. If this helicopter really is Swindle, it and Animated Swindle have almost nothing in common, so it wouldn't be anywhere near an issue. Animated and Universe Prowl even have more similarities. We'll more than likely get a Ratchet down the road in the 25th Ann. line, and well after Animated Ratchet is gone from store shelves. I really hope these two are a part of a Gestalt gift pack. Would make for a great Target exclusive, imo.

If they're going for a Universe Bruticus, they need to release a THIRD Onslaught to make it a true Bruticus (Energon Barricade).
Meh...I'll get either these guys or the movie versions, which ever I find first.

Its really expensive, last time I think they did anything similar was with Soundwave (G1) by reverse engineering a mold from a toy (or at least I think that's what they did, not 100% sure).

DN | Yeah, but I think that mold was extensively damaged. I didn't even notice any problems with my Destructicon Scourge, so the Hero Prime mold can't be that degraded.

i didnt know the prime mold was popular. it was the first tf that i bought in years. beast wars made me stop looking for transformers for a long time.

Yeah, I'm going with the notion that the seller doesn't know what he's talking about and this is indeed a Universe store-exclusive Combaticon repaint set, and these are two of them Swindle and Vortex (or some name instead of Vortex, if that's none available). Both look pretty good, minus the transparent red plastic, which doesn't look right on Decepticons.
Pass on the Prime repaint, though. Waaay too close two other versions of that mold to purchase again.

does anyone think that they may be able to do a new version of superion, or at least a recolor of the Energon Mold? Seems likely to me with the current run of energon combiner recolors. Also, does anyone have any idea when the Movie Combaticon Pieces were, or are going to be released? I have been looking but I have not seen them yet.

As for the two Movie Scouts we saw, all we know about them is info we could get from the pictures, so we basically know what they look like, what their names & bios are, and who they will be released with. As for when the will come out, we have absolutely no idea.
One thing that helps support the idea that these two will be a part of a Comabitcons gift set, is that Hasbro recently trademarked the name Combaticons.

Kinda feels like we're about to get a Quasi Dreamwave armada like story that crosses into Keepers Trilogy and IDW verses. I kinda like it. =D
Also is highly reminiscent of the armada comics galvatron unicron angle. Just they jumped back to the wrong world and ended up in universe, knocking the 'classic' versions into a different reality. >.>
Well at least something like that would let them criss cross the toy verses while still making bots we want to see. xD

Nice new pics. I'm thinking that those parts that don't match were accidentally swapped with each other, as the colors match the other one. I really hope they are a part of a Bruticus set, and are actually Vortex and Swindle, with the tanks being Brawl and Armorhide, and then the body being Onslaught. Would make a nice opponent to the Superion set.

yeah. when i opened them i was like "wha???"
but they are cool for that price...nice to get something pre-release at retail without it having a rape the wallet price tag attached...still they are cool...dunno about the alleged names though...the grey one looks like vortex to be and the brown one maybe the desert camo version of vortex....
The V-1 paint app along with that $ (dollar sign) are trippy...i will laugh if those paint apps make it to a retail release on the robots........

That and one can't have enough combiners in a collection of TF's. I just hope it isn't too long till Hasbro's able to come up with a new mold combiner or two. Maybe either in Animated at some point, or in whatever we happen to get once Animated is over.

Just got mine in today's mail. Mine have the same miscolored plastic underneath the cockpits. Looks as if they were reversed as the tan on "Whirl" looks to be the same shade as parts of "Sandstorm".
The burnt orange Energon weapons that came w/ "Sandstorm" look really nice. Both have the 2004 Takara/Hasbro copyright stamped on the figure, just above where the legs snap in. Overall I'm very glad I bought these.

I hope we get some news on a reissue of these as a combaticon giftset as some are theorizing or maybe just somesort of reissue in general....
