| First Images of Universe Animated Legends & Universe Storm Cloud, Better Image of Treadbolt |

These images were in the just released issue of Previews Magazine. Previously unannounced figures included Legends-class Animated Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Prowl. Although shown/mentioned at BotCon 2008, the general public now also has its first look at Storm Cloud (Universe Powerglide repaint). Finally, TFW2005 also has a better look at the just revealed Universe Treadbolt figure. Click on the image to the left for a look at all of these figures.

How big would he be relative to the other Animated figures - as in, would he be better scalewise?
And I have to say - I like Storm Cloud's deco a lot more than Powerglide's. Only negative in my book is the bloody SILVER Decepticon logo.

The new destrons are cool.
But the animated has not moved me yet, after the recent animated toy incident. SarahMobius: Treadbolt is so going near my blue angels F/A-18 model.  He just keeps looking better. And yes I understand my opinion is in the minority on him. Silent_Magnus: Hey now that there is a legends size Optimus in Universe I can get the G2 Megatron!
Unless they're also making a legends class animated Megatron. The I'd still skip the G2 megatron. flamingunicron: Storm clouds looks interesting...might end up getting it over powerglide NeoGutsman: Treadbolt's redeco of Classics Jetfire looks terrific, and dare I say it, I think Storm Cloud's redeco of Powerglide looks better than the NA version, and in my eyes better than the Henkei one.
I'm loving the three Legends class TFA characters. The Movie Legends toys surprised me since they really had some clever transformations. It looks like TFA Legends are also looking great, and given the cartoon-like nature of TFA, the simple paint decos look nice and clean here. The only way I could be more pleased at the moment is to see an announcement about TFA Legends Soundwave or the Dinobots  Gigatron_2005: Wow. Those Classics look like some terrible G2 rejects. zeroXII: Treadbolt looks awesome. A must get. The rest are easy pass. Dilborg: Is there something written on near the middle on Treadbolt's alt mode?
Didn't G2 Treadbolt have writing around there? dark69: must have them all!
i did not like Powerglide but i love him as Storm Cloud Velcrohead: I hate to be the dissenting voice, but that is one ugly ass Powerglide repaint. So long as they keep all these shitty colored make-no-sense repaints reserved to entirely brand new, no-name or uber insignificant characters, I won't (publicly) complain. Make them purple, Hasbro! | Purple? On Black? Ravenxl7: The Animated Legends figures don't look all that bad, but they aren't going on my to-get list. The only thing about Storm Cloud that I don't like is the Yellow on him. More silver or purple would have worked better. Tread Bolt still looks good, though the brown is a little unexpected, and was a little off-putting when I first saw it. His clear plastic parts kinda remind me of old fashioned root bear candy. I'm still most likely going to get him. I even have a Decepticon kitbash idea for him. The brown is one thing that'll definetly have to go for that idea though. Here's hoping we get at least one more Voyager repaint that's a Decepticon of some kind. Astrotrain52: Legends are hideous, Prowl is the best, but they're all terrible.
Storm cloud is a maybe. Jet mode is good, but robot mode's head is weird. I imagine that I will get him, but there are others I want much much more. They should have used a dark gray instead of that ugly gold. Treadshot is a definate buy even tho I already have Jetfire. I'm REALLY tired of gold and silver Bot and Con symbols, go back to Purple and Red. Screw realism, Purple and Red is classic. WhiteMocha: Hrm. I remember when the first reports from Botcon came back, folks were saying Stormcloud was purple and gold. I think that would have looked better. Actually, the blue isn't so bad, and the deep silver looks nice, but that yellow looks kinda unpleasant. I mean, he's evil... so I guess maybe he's supposed to look sallow and jaundiced? Ah well... hopefully it'll look better in person. shogun221: I think I like Legends Bumblebee better than the deluxe version....looks a little bit more solid.
Treadbolt is an ok repaint of a fantastic mold that everyone needs to own. If I didn't already own Jetfire, I'd be all over him.

Fitting for a repaint. Fit For natalie: I find it curious that obscure homages are hated by some people even though it shows Hasbro is well aware of its brand history.

, who has a very similar colour scheme, which, as somebody pointed out, its based on the Blue Angels. Acid Wing: Wow, actually dig evil Powerglide, but the color scheme kinda reminds me of one of the Energon Superion limbs (Terradive I think).
Legends BB looks the best IMO out of the legends animated figs.

Only difference is that that toy looks amazingly awesome, while Hasbro's looks unbelievably tacky and ugly. See, that toy has a much nicer looking blue which blends well with the yellow. With all Hasbro's toys it looks like they had to make the best out of a sale at the Neon Paint Store. Dropshot: I truly never expected to see animated legends, some of them look really cool. Now bring on the Decepticons darnit!! Optimus747: Storm Cloud is the only one I'll definitely get, since my brother's getting Powerglide. Treadbolt is a maybe, and it'd be to keep MISB if I do get it, even though I like the Jetfire mold.
The Animated Legends are pretty good, I'll probably get Optimus. Paradigm-Shift Prime: Cool, those repaints look pretty good...I'd rather they do more noteworthy characters with the universe/2.0 figs but I like those designs. Sort of wish the jetfire one was all that blue/yellow and not the black underside I guess. Noisemaze: Stormcloud & Treadbolt are AWESOME!!!
But I'm repainting Treadbolt into Darkwing. Deceptigtar: dam it. was hoping the jetfire repaint would have been a con, at least the powerglide repaint is and looks way better than its original! Beastbot X: Odd, I remember Storm Cloud having more yellow. Still looks awesome, though.
And the Animated Legends look okay, but they seem rather pointless given the Activators. Gryph: Quote:

Storm Cloud looks pretty cool in those colors, but I think it's a little early for repaints of original Universe/Classics 2.0 molds. Just my opinion.
And Tread Bolt looks freakin awesome like I said in the other thread. Thunderwave: I agree with the repaint comment especially for some of the more obscure TF's; however, I am all for repaints if they are for TF's like Sideswipe, Bluestreak, Red Alert, Smokescreen, etc. BB Shockwave: Animated Legends makes Movie Legends figure look even more ugly... Because these little things look EXACTLY like the big figures in both modes! They are awesome, especially BB and Prowl. I might even get them although I'm not much into Legends.
I'm not liking the two Classics repaints... the name reuse is great, but...
-G1 Storm-Cloud was a black and purple Grippen jet. Tailwind from the same Patrol was an A-10 Warthog, but he was blue/white with a red cockpit. Not a good hommage.
-G1 Treadbolt was blue and yellow, right... but he was a flying wing. This Alt Mode would work much better for a G1 Darkwing repaint...
I'd have preferred if they did a G1 Tailwind hommage from Classics Minicon Steelwind, a G1 Micromaster as an Ultra Figure is even a bigger overkill then making Powerglide an ultra. Hiro Prime: Treadbolt is a nice homage to the original Micromaster, but it reminds me more of the G2 Decepticon Jet Afterburner. Michael Dracon: Wow! Storm Cloud looks so much better than either of the Powerglide color schemes.
I'm definitely getting Storm Cloud instead. shroobmaster: Maaan even the ANIMATED LEGENDS look good, buuuut the only one that I'll want so far is Bumblebee.
By the way, why all Legends line BUT the movie one have good colors? The movie one was like.... like... uhh just look at Bonecrusher! |
