Buyers Beware: KO FansProject City Commander

But it won't be 100% exact. There will be some differences to note. (Probably some slight modifications, adding some new factors to existing mold etc.)

I'm telling you guys beforehand that FP WILL reissue City Commander again. (Last quarter of this year.)

I tried to warn you fellas about an "Asian" Powered Commander when it was featured in TFCon thread. I got ignored & laughed at for that. Guys doubted what I'd said & soon enough, people need buckets to hold their tears.

Another example:

We, in Singapore, already knew that the next character for Disney Label is gonna be Donald Duck. In fact, we knew that SO MUCH earlier as discussions were ongoing in the Singapore Sightings thread, even before it got FP'ed.

Mach, one of our most active "News Reporter" constantly sends in "News" that won him some Front Paged credits there so its proof/evidence to show.

Back to the topic, several toyshops in Singapore had already caught wind of this City Commander Reissue & now we're all just waiting for this to take place.

Source, you were asking? Would you believe it if I were to tell you that shop owners got this FIRST HAND from FP but they were told to "keep it under wrap" & to only reveal this at the "correct" time?

I missed out on th city commander set so a may actauly get this if price is reasonable for it's poor quality. a few mods to it may sort out some bugs. does any one know what price in £ would be?

This is what I get for sleeping on the original release. LOL I'm probably never going to own this now. Don't wanna risk ending up with a KO unless I can get it from a reputable seller.

can't say im surprised by this if thereis something that will make money and its hard to find and very expensive when you do it will get a cheap Knock off to try to cash in on it

Well, if you can put up with even the slight "defects" then.. what's the darn difference? I don't mind as long as they are not trying to pass it off as the real deal with an inflated price (which it sounds like they are doing).

Well sir I hope you are correct on this, I also hope to hell they put the extras on it so I have a reason to buy it again.

Hm...if i only could get that kit in local stores. T.T I will still cros my fingers cause i really want the U-Magnus upgrade, even if is a KO set.

Crud. Everything in those photos looks exactly like the one I just bought for $250 Canadian. I'm still waiting to get the classics UM in the mail, so I won't know for sure until I piece it all together. I also got the Alternators Prime gascan gun with it... does that ring any bells? I'll be sorta pissed if I've just been had.

There's adequate information posted + a whole gallery of pictures to do some comparison so get down to work once you'd received what you'd paid for.

Lets hope that these KOs had not been distributed overseas yet.

If you find anything feeling loose, it might indicate its a KO. FansProject spent alot of time making sure parts fit in properly with a tight fit. Early reports of this KO said the arm armor falls off, if the arm is pointing down.

The thing that locks the arm inside the armor has been taken out. That is why the armor cannot stay on.
Also the black thing that locks the cannon after folding has a hole on it (for the sword I guess). They probably replicated the part from Shadow Commander instead of the one from City Commander.

Wow, how pathetic. I don't feel sorry for anyone one buying this knowingly.

I've found pirated versions of bootleg concert CDs in China, going for less than US$1.00. It's entrepreneurship at work, albeit on the shady side.

Not that I'd ever pay any where near what they are asking for a KO but the hole for the sword sounds useful given I want to give the sword to UM anyway.

Automorpher, thanks for the updated information. It's good news if we do see a re-release of the City Commander. I missed out on him the first time, and was lucky enough to get a Classics UM recently. Prices for existing City Commander sets are okay, but still higher than my wallet can handle right now. But later this year would rock, and I'd be willing to shell out the original $80 that City Commander was going for, or even up to $120.

No biggy thanks there, we don't wanna see any innocent boys losing sleep & BIG $$$ over this thus the information will be useful for those who believe in it.

I think this would be a big mistake from a marketing standpoint. Sure it would make them some money up front, but at the risk of reduced sales on all future products they make. Right now, they make a lot of sales to dealers and speculators. If they go and re-issue an older toy that's spiked in price, they will chase away that portion of their sales on future releases.

This will have a similar effect to what Glen did with his OTFCC exclusives when he started selling them off at a discount after the show. Demand for his second show's exclusives dropped off significantly because no dealers wanted to buy extras at full price and risk him discounting them later.

I really don't get all the complaining about this toy "not being available". Yes, they are sold out now, but it's not like they sold out in a day or a weekend. They were available domesticly from 2 major online dealers for a while. Everyone had plenty of opportunity to grab one at the issue price.

I remember that. I just find it kind of funny that it was the same 3-5 people that was complaining about that here on the boards. The rest was so embarrassed about making the purchase of the armor at an inflated site, they didn't want to say anything.

FP are great designers but not exactly great business men so I wouldn't count on this not happening, anyway I and others are hoping to hell its an improved/perfect/anime/what ever version of the orginal CC with the sholder rockets, parts held together buy screws maybe even the sword and changeable face, I know magnus never had a sword or a face plate but the option is cool and every knows robots = cool, robot + sword = awsome!!!!!

Ah, good news for those who wants the City Commander Kit.
But not a very good news for those who are waiting for the Protector Kit.
If they really want to have a revised City Commander Kit out by the end of the year they will definately have to put everything on their schedule to a stop in order to get this done. I don't think they have the facility and resource to get multiple projects (as in big kits) done at the same time, especially "last quater of this year".

It says very clearly in the posting that it's a rumor and nothing has been confirmed.

Not saying it will or won't happen... But acting like it's a sure thing is a little premature.

I'll wave off the entire thing as hearsay but not when a TFs forum had been informed by FP themselves. Furthermore, with a whole fleet of toy/specialty shops in Singapore taking orders now, I think not.

& I'm quoting this because some shop owners/suppliers had also received likewise notification from FP themselves.

There was a shop in Japan also said that they were getting the Shadow Commander kit from a FP contact a while ago but at the end the kit turned out to be a KO... till now they still won't admit that they are selling KOs in their shop.
Hopefully the shops in Singapore are talking to the right people.

Funny, when I spoke to the guys from FP in person at TFCON, i was told they would never ever release City Commander or Cliff jumper set again.

These shop owners/suppliers were the guys that leaked "Asian" Powered Commander thing, which had me trying to warn you guys on TFCon thread.

That "Asian" version is now D.I.A Commander officially so are we talking to the right people? Again, that's for you to decide.

Well, IMO if the re-released version of City Commander goes by a different name (ala Powered Commander and D.I.A Commander) and paint apps are different, then you can't say that FP went back on their word, can you?

Afterall, they would still be 2 different products....

I think when fans have no issue in buying a KO City Commander, then that gives FansProject the ok to reissue City Commander.

If a re-release of City Commander is coming then I would be suprised.
Keep in mind, there is no Henkei Ultra Magnus to go with this armor so it would be a US release only again.
Hopefully it would be with some diffrent stuff and Paint Deco. Maybe a Matrix or something would be cool.

If the missles and the sword are added to the set along with the fact its been retooled to add screws it could well be considered a different toy, they could even go as far as putting a new name on it.

I'm not greedy, just include the missiles this time round & I'll buy this again.

Probably same price point as the others $80-$100

We'd only gotten news of City Commander being "re-introduced" this far, no pricing being mentioned just as yet. We'll be sure to update if we hear it first.

That is a lot of differences in quality. The KO makers made it easier to spot this fake.
