ki1983ng:
Hi all, just like to bring to your attention that apparently after the KO Shadow Commander, a KO City Commander set is released.
On the 3rd page of this 'KO Shadow Commander Review' thread, user 'csepdi_do' commented that the KO City Commander (in his words: original colours) has very poor-fitting arm pieces (same as the KO Shadow Commander) which drop the moment the arms are pointing downwards. The leg pieces are however, tight-fitting. Couple of posters also share the same sentiment regarding the arm pieces.

OP for this FP Aerialbots Appendages thread also posted that the KO City Commander set was released and asked whether anyone else bought it (last sentence of his post).

edit: Actoys.net user 'lovemg' has posted a review thread with pics, (could mods edit my title please?)

summary of his review:
1. Flimsy packaging box
2. Very weak trailer connection
3. Loose shoulder piece
4. Ultra Magnus' guns doesn't fit into the shoulder piece (too loose, had to jam 'something' in the hole)
5. Very loose arm pieces (had to jam a piece of plastic inside)
6. BFG doesn't snap together properly
He gives it a 8 for trailer mode & a 7 for bot mode, only recommends it for display purposes.

It was only a matter of time for this to pop up. There were rumors the KO Shadow Commander was done by some fans, or ties to another fan group. Seeing how these 3rd party products are geared towards a small group, I guess there could be some truth to it.
DrillBIT:
It is selling at 9800 yen and up in Japan already.
Quality is really bad. But those who got the kit says Shadow Commander KO is better then the City Commander KO.

There are a lot of people who missed out on City Commander's release. So I can see this KO being popular, unless FansProject releases a "perfect" City Commander with missiles and extras. The only problem is fans who have the original will get mad, and others will complain for repainting it a second/fourth time, or for some other reason.

Rather then pumping out the old City Commander kit and add parts to make it "perfect", I would rather see a second/revised version of the City Commander kit from them. I won't say the kit is not good, but I really want to see it evolves into something else.
Malikon:
Display wise that's not a bad looking KO.
all are dead:
i was kinda hoping for a more high quality KO because i missed out on the city commander i have the shadow commander and want the D.I.A. Commander.
Mr.Sci-Fi:
I'll buy one if I can get it for under $100, I'd buy a fansproject one just as fast if they offered it again. All that matters to me is getting one or a knock off at a reasonable price. It's actually nice to see someone stepping up and filling demand even if the product has a few small defects from the original. Maybe it will stop businesses from limiting their products so much.
nemisispringer:
i want one the original was far too expensive plus you cant get it anywhere
justamaze:
I'm really glad I bought the original when it first came out. I would hate to buy today and find out after that was a KO with poor quality. But if you missed it and can't find it, some may take what they can get. Poor souls.
Autobot Burnout:
The only reason that I'd even consider picking up KO's of the City/Shadow Commander sets (outside of the fact I'd ALSO need an example of the Classics Prime mold, which I STILL lack...) is for customization reasons, since I'd not bring an Exacto knife anywhere NEAR the real deals (too awesome and valuable for that). For the KO's, however, I could probably make interchangeable battle damage parts for the real armors while not hurting the actual toy.
kamtimus_prime:
Well for a KO it does not look that bad in either mode. I think with some mods it could be just as good as Fansprojects. I was lucky enough to get an orginal FP City Commander kit, seeing how popular the City Commander kit is. I only hope is that FP will see this and reproduce the City Commander upgrade kit with the shoulder missiles and also have a missile add on kit for the people who have the first release kit
MrSoundwaveGuy:
I might try to get a KO, if it's cheap enough. Alot you could do with this armor
Wingsbr:
Wow, KO's of fanmade products. LOL, what is this world coming to?
dragon516:
Worse part is this KO is about 110. 9800 yen comes out to $106. That is more expensive than the original release. Whose going to pay money for a low quality KO of a fan made product at a set point higher than the original release. I guess the original FP set does go for more than 180 now.
thedeadmatrix:
I will buy if they got em out on ebay cheap. Fansproject should consider teaming up with hasbro for a leaderclass then ill buy it for real.

You'll be glad to know that FP will reissue City Commander again at the last quarter of this year.

The KO makers of this know there are crazy fans who are willing to pay more than what the original cost. Just like those KO Cliffjumper kits, that are being sold for like over $70, when the original cost $30. Their doing their wallets a favor, not the fans.

Sucks, but then...it's a knock off of an unlicensed product, so it's not like they can put a stop to it, right?
butz:
Something about a KO of an unofficial, unlicensed product that seems kinda silly to me.
Basketball Jones:
This is a knockoff of an unofficial addon for an exclusive nobody cared about when it was in stores.
Can the knockoff makers make a Lucky Draw version of the knockoff to complete the cycle?

A more reasonably priced and available solution to our city commander desires.
kenm2474:
I look up at mine and smile knowing he is Original and Perfect. I have honestly never been prouder of a product that this one. This KO of a KO is a chance for the people who could not get it originaly.
Dran0n:
He, he. BFG. I will keep this in mind when purchasing a City Commander set, thanks for the warning.
reluttr:
FansProject should really look into a different producer, so that they can make the mold for cheaper because I would had bought the city commander or any of its repaints in a heartbeat if it had been around 50$.
That standing, if a fairly decent KO comes out for sub 50$ Ill look into it to.

You mentioned this in another thread. I hate to say it but if your waiting for a $50.00 price point to hit on these here in the US you will most likely be empty handed on this. You may luck out and find a lower price in China but then there is shipping which will offset that. Anyway this is way to popular of a set even a KO of it wont be $50.00. I have an extra one but wont let it go for under what I paid(Retail Price).

I just saw it's available on some Chinese websites around 350 Chinese yuan...That comes out like 50$...I consider to ask my frined to get one for me...maybe wait to see if there's a better version coming out...
ams:
I bought CC when it came out and sold it a week later; not impressed.
I'm surprised FP hasn't done another run of them, though - there certainly seems to be a market. Instead of the Powered Convoy colors, I would have re-released CC all chromed up.
Nukatron:
Well it is not as good as the original, but my Tf budget is low so a KO commander is better then no commander
Lucs:
Not much to say from me but that it's not surprising. The popularity of this thing was high from the start and to have a KO of it makes sense from a economic sense. One could tell right away that once it sold out in a short period of time there would be increasing demand for it later. This things will only gain in value just like the CJ kit grew to a $350 price from starting at $30. If you missed the boat on this for $76 and it's going for $180 now, $100 is the best deal you'll get for a decent quality KO

KoPOW Commander!!
starscream-99:
I hope Fansproject re-issues it. I really want one, and I am considering buying a KO.
Protoman:
Crazy world when this stuff starts getting bootleged. What's next? Knock offs of Justitoys' World's Smallest Dinobots?
Cast:
Honestly I have the orginal, shadow and DAIclone on order but I would totally buy the mould again if FP put out the orginal colors or close to them with the add on the later ones have, supreme commander or something with sword and rockets. I mean we all know it would sell out again, hell most of us with the orginal would want it again.
As for the OK I'd pass, CC is a work of art this just cheapens it.
iheartarcee:
Ill buy one if its cheap enough..
reluttr:
The loose arm parts are easy enough to fix, all you would have to do is either build up layers of super glue, use styrene to pad it, or use liquid electrical tape "or any liquid rubber" to add friction.
With some modding with a exacto Im sure you can get the BFG to work correctly as well.
Plus if you can get it for moderately cheap like most other KO's then it is worth it, Especially if your just wanting it for modding.
Storm:
Might be good for customisers, they're probably not just going to repaint it so a bit of extra trimming and fitting shouldn't be too much of an issue.

I would love to see how much effort one will have to put in to get this KO thing fixed properly.
According to some KO City Commander owners they are having 2 major problems. First problem is due to the thickness of the plastic on the shoulder parts. Either you get a very loose shoulder armor that doesn't lock on or it is too tight that it dislocates your prime or magnus' shoulder. Second problem is some of the parts are being modified. It clamps onto the core and gives your prime or magnus scratch marks (sometimes blue ones).

I really hope this information is correct, as I missed out on the original release. Buying a knock-off just doesn't feel right. What is your source?
thedeadmatrix:
Use KOS FOR CUSTOMS or display only
