Botcon 2008 Hasbro Product Panel and Q&A: Updated with Pictures from the Hasbro Display!

That Mirage repaint kind of reminds me of GoBot Crasher with the #1 on it. Either way all Classics/Universe will me mine. This new kind of makes me think I should cut down on my TFA wants.

Hope they do as good a job with Universe Arcee (surely the heaviest hint that there will be one going) as they did with Silverbolt, who seems to be the most G1 accurate Universe mold so far. And that's saying something!

Also liking the look of Universe Ironhide. Nice to see G1 continuing to get some love. Can't wait to see what the 25th Anniversary toys will be...

You forgot to mention that these two sets will each come with a mini comic that involves the two characters.

Y'know, for all the complaints about the Botcon Seekers, nobody has given Hasbro any props for finishing the War Within Seeker set with Skywarp coming.

I'm guessing no one brought up Alternators?

BTW, can't remember which site or thread that I read it, but that anniversary G1 Prime will have SHORT stacks according to the panel. I wish they'd stop putting promo pics of the long stack version online.

They are still "asleep" for now, largely because Universe 2.0 covers a lot of the same ground with a cheaper product.

Does anyone have a pic on Universe Blades in robot mode? I can see that he was there, but no full body pics. He is the red repaint of Cybertron Voyager Evac. Thanks.

It was brought up and news is posted everywhere about what was said. Apparently the line is still not officially dead - just on hiatus. Sounds like they'll try to bring it back whenever they can - probably as convention exclusives and any other way that doesn't involve being on store shelves at the same time as Movie, Animated & Universe stuff.

I still can't believe NO ONE asked about the status of Animated Lugnut possibly getting a Leader size. I thought that would be one of the top questions for the panel.

Comic packs and Legends, yeah, since the tags there say they're in the Universe line.

Well actualy he would probably be taller than Leader Bulkhead, considering the voyager version is taller than Voyager Bulkhead.

Wow, Ironhide looks really, really bad in vehicle mode. I'm hoping he can fit together better than that. He looks like he was made by origami. Robot mode is hardly fantastic either.

And what is up with Sideswipe? I hope he has more than just a new head. He needs that shoulder cannon. Otherwise, pass.

Bluestreak looks fantastic in robot mode but not very good in vehicle mode. Just not a very attractive vehicle...

Finally, Silverbolt looks glorious. Well done there.

I really agree with Afterburner on this so called Ironhide, I really like the head sculpt but, im guessing ether he is mistransformed or his crotch just got punched in by megatron. the veicule really ain't bad, it is just the way he transforms. I will still get him any way.

The Target one's will most likely be in Universe packaging, and the Walmart one's will most likely be in Movie styled packaging, just like the other four released earlier this year. Hopefully they aren't as hard to find, as I want that Mirage repaint. Roadbuster does sound interesting, but I saw some pictures of him, and he's something I don't see me getting. Dirge, Springer, and Ratbat all looked ok, but not buyable imo.

Hasbro put out some samples on the display, I've loaded some photos to the frontpage. No new Animated guys, but check out Silverbolt, the Movie stuff, and two completely unseen guys - Universe Legends Class HOUND and Universe Deluxe G1 accurate BLUESTREAK!

Also, hell yeah on SDCC Skywarp!

And the last two are the comic packs. For some reason this was not posted in TFW2005's Hasbro report.

The other three are Movie line redecos, like Big Daddy and co.

All of the new Animated stuff and Universe Silverbolt have me giddy.

Gotta agree on WW Skywarp. Hopefully, they won't disappear once they wind up on HTS.com And legends Jazz, tank Megs, and Hound all look wonderful.

Ick. Silverbolt is the one I'm LEAST impressed with. His robot mode looks terribly dull. It's like they stuck TOO close to the original.

Not big into the animated stuff, but the new "universe/classics" stuff is really looking good. Too bad there's only a L. Class Hound

Ironhide = win. Don't care what his alt mode looks like, as he will be spending his time in bot mode. Loving just about everything, but Hound and Brawn are sweetness. It looks like I will be buying all of these.

ugh those repaints are horrible! Cybertron Noisemaze as Ratbat?!?! And the Dirge is bad!

Regarding the Walmart exclusives, after looking at the photos....

"Breakaway" is clearly intended to be Getaway, and "Fracture" is clearly intended to be Crasher. Their paintjobs are almost dead-on, and their names are obvious wink-wink-nudge-nudges as well.

Crankcase.... well, he, uh... pretty much looks like he was intended to be Crankcase.

We're also getting a Deluxe class Hound with a Ravage that is supposed to be able to fit into G1 Soundwave. We don't have any pictures of it yet, but it was mentioned during the panel.

Ravage makes me wonder if he'll be the same has his G1 cassette, or a brand new, fully articulated wonder-casette.

I'm speachless, I'm blown away, and soon I'll be broke WW Skywarp? HELL YES!! More (awesome) classics! Bring them!

By the way it sounds to me, Ravage will be a new mold. He's supposed to be able to attach onto the back of Hound somehow.
Nope, not yet. Brawn sounds interesting, but I'm more interested in a little Hound, though depending on how Brawn looks, I might get him instead of Hound. That way I have an update of each character instead of two Hounds.

I'm glad we're getting an awesome sentinel toy... but I'm miffed at how few voyager autobots there are. c'est la vie.

Breakaway, with slight color alterations and an addition of a lightbar would've made a good Siren.

Fracture looks cool. Reminds me of that Female race car from Gobots(forgot her name).

Crankcase closely resembles his Triggercon roots. I'd get him, I like that mold.

Those two-packs don't look that great, imo. I'd get the Dirge pack just for Dirge, but that's it. Springer's colors look awful...I hope those aren't final.

Wish they would've decided on a Voyager Universe Ironhide instead of deluxe. Just make him a real small Voyager....kinda like Bulkhead from Animated.

All Universe kicks ass, even the G1 Legends Jazz and Hound.

Skywarp is mine......no matter the cost.

Are we ever going to get a freaking original sculpt, G1-updated, Triple-Changing Springer, or is he doomed to keep being repainted from crappy (IMO) molds?

-Breakaway (Getaway, wonder if they lost that name) is a pleasant surprise as far as repaints go.

-I was all ready to shell out the cash for the Springer/Ratbat repaints, two figures I love redone as two characters I totally love/like a lot, until I saw the actual decos.

Serioulsy, I'm sick of those warm purples Hasbro seems found of as of late (it can also be cool and crisp deco dude!), and poor Springer's colors seem so muddy. I get a muddy Bulkhead/Sprung vibe from him far more then G1 Springer homage. My kingdom for a new actual Springer figure....ah hell they'd probably just screw it up any way....

I cannot believe those pictures, those Transformers look extremely shitty, I simply cannot describe how disappointed I am. I honestly thought I was looking at bootleg figures.

I was thinking earlier that Springer has become the new Ultra Magnus (re-used again and again but only as repaints), and we've just seen what Hasbro did with him.

Well, almost. Some of the Cybertron repaints I'm not nuts about, but they're all at least "okay"... But the new stuff... holy crap. The Sideswipe/Blue...ahem... Silverstreak/Ironhide picture there makes me sad... cause they're three of my favorite G1 Characters, and none of them are in Universe Wave 1.

Galvatron doesn't really impress me, but he does look cool. I'll have to see more of him to realy gauge an opinion though. Haven't really wrapped my head around Powerglide yet.
