Damn, there's an awful lot of stuff hanging off his back. Shame, as Galvatron looked pretty cool from the front.. I did wonder if he'd have a serious "backpack" going on back there. Thanks for the link, shots of these new Universe Classics are always worth a look

Meh, back kibble doesn't bother me. The transformation overshadows it. What kills it for me is how tiny I know he is.
Rijie78:
I've the same attitude towards his smallness that you have towards the back kibble; but I do know what you mean, Galavtron as a "small" TF does seem a bit strange. I guess it's to keep him in some sort of relative scale with the classics Magnus & Hot Rod, perhaps.

Course, had he been a larger size toy, perhaps they could have packed some of that kibble away a bit more... still, there 'tis. It is a good version of him in many ways, IMHO, regardless of whether I'll buy him or not; and it's good this Universe line is happening. Gives some characters a much needed update.
Th0r4z1n3:
don't know if it's new news or not either, but it's the first time I've seen it and let me just say...
I WILL own this!
Takara_destron:
The more pics the see of this guy the more I want him. Galvatron FTW!
Kickback:
I hate his artwork. Won't lie.

I hate all the artwork for the Universe figs.
microclone:
i must admit to not really liking this toy, its not terrible by a long shot, its just a bit uninspired and hotch potch looking, also the paint job on the face looks really cheap, hasbro really need to keep the faces as coloured plastic as paint really spoils them, compare classics astrotrain face (nice) to universe tankors face (poor).
Ktulu:
I'll say once more like I have in every topic about this guy that him being close in size to Classics Rodimus is still kinda crap seeing as that toy is plain old Hot Rod, not "omg mah matrix made me big as Optimus and uggoed mah face" Rodimus Prime. I still say Galvy should have been bigger, but oh well, that whole point of view has really been done to death.

The card art is pretty funny, like he was chomping on energon but stopped mid chew as he realized a bug's flown up his ass
Sol Fury:
I think he would be pretty close in size to the Titanium Rodimus Prime actually, so he'd work in that scale.

Also, now that I think of it, there's a lot of Season 3 guys in Titanium or Deluxe class already - G1 Magnus, Scourge, Cyclonus to name three others. Galvatron would at least be in scale with all those guys, more or less. I really don't see it as a big deal.

Henkei rodimus will be a perfect fit with him imo.
Star Sabre James:
I like it. The artwork on the package leaves much to be desired, though. Good match for Classics Rodimus.
frenzy_rumble:
this would have made a great ultra or larger classed TF.

funny how terrible the real thing looks after seeing all those proto-pics we've seen.
SmokescreenWRX:
What is the bastard love child of G1 Galvatron and Scourge for $19.99, Alex?

Sadly, I agree
Grimlocka go-go:
Looks good enough for me to through some money down on it, can't wait to get ahold of em.

After the brick that was G1 Galvy, I'm lovin these updated versions of these guys.
Silent_Magnus:
From the pics I must say the main thing I don't like about him is his feet.
They just look weird.

Most him looks pretty cool though.

I'm going to be giving Galvatron to my Classics Megatron as a pet.

Yeah, like many said, they should have switched him with Silverbolt. I'll buy him if I see him, but will hate the small size.
KidDynamite:
So after not buying any Transformers for a year, I picked up Prowl and Sunstreaker. Still on the fence about Tankor at this point, but Galvatron here is a definite pass for me. I can't think of anything I really like about him based on pictures. He seems too small, his articulation looks weird and awkward, and I'm not super crazy about the paint layout. Oh well.
Soundwave84:
i can deal with him being small because i know ill be able to get him for cheaper.
eyeballkid:
Let me get my magnifying glass.....

Oh! That's a nice tank! Finally! The turret actually turns. That's cool! I like the light piping on the gun. Bot mode is just ok.

(removes magnifying glass..) Wait? Where did he go?!

But will Ultra Magnus be able to deal with it?

Actually Classics Astrotrain's face is silver paint over white plastic, when I was kitbashing one I accidentially scrapped it.

I'm can't think of many tanks that are larger than fighter/bomber aircraft.

Galvatron should have been bigger, we probably all agree on that, but I'd rather have a tiny Galv tank & a large Silverbolt/jet instead of the reverse. A huge tank dwarfing a jet.

The solution would have been to simply update the space cannon mode.

Yeah - and Henkei Astrotrain has white paint on his face.

Acid Storm, whose face is superior, has paint on his face which brings out the detail.

I think Galvy's face looks just fine.
Xaedrahk:
I'm holding out for Leader class Galvatron with a Leonard Nimoy speech function.

"Deluxe class release, Hasbro? This is bad comedy!"
Silent_Magnus:
I really doubt we'd get a leader, or bigger, toy in a sideline that is not a redeco.

Yeah - I doubt that we'll get a leader.

Though I find that the fact he's a deluxe makes him better in that Galvatron was already nutso in Season 3.

Gives him a Napoleon complex if he's shorter. So then he snaps more easily and beats the living tar out of his troops if he thinks he hears a short joke.
Urlacher5454:
I'll get him just so I have something to hold me over until we get a Masterpiece Galvie. It will happen.
Johnator:
I think he looks really good. Also the boxart is fine. Overall a must-buy for me.
SmokescreenGT:
He may only be a deluxe and have a lot of back kibble, but I will still own him regardless.

Yeah, hardly perfect but a nice update. I'm looking forward to picking one up.
Incepticon:
I would have been perfectly fine if this mold was a Voyager, but as a Deluxe - and a shockingly small one at that - it's nothing I can get excited about, let alone buy.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that *anyone* at Hasbro thought this would be a good idea - to turn one of THE most desired classic characters with an entirely new mold into one of the smallest Classics/Universe figures to date - yet turning Silverbolt & Onslaught into stand-alone characters while making them along with Powerglide into Ultra classes.
Drake:
Now he just needs a new Cyclonus to go with him.
Josh:
meh

i dunno

im just not that impressed with a lot of these classics 2.0 figs :\

guess it'll save me some money
Opticron Primal:
So, who here is gonna buy 2 Cyclonuses to go with Galvy? One for the character, and one for his "Armada".

I hear many people talk about this Cyclonus figure but I am unfamiliar with it. Do we have any pics for it yet?

Not yet, but it should be released along with the Hound vs. Ravage 2-pack.

A deluxe Cyclonus with Targetmaster partner Nightstick will be released for the 25thanniversery line either at the end of this year or early next year.

both are new molds

I wouldn't call them two-packs as much as I would call the deluxes from armada "2-packs"

Nightstick and Ravage are more "bonus" figures.
Travicon:
not as cool as i was expecting, i wouldnt spend my last 10 bucks on the figure, but im sure ill get'em.
Greyryder:
I'll get him, because he's a Merkava, with a huge ray gun. He's also small enough to be punked by Titanium Rodimus Prime.
CrypticIllusionist:
Now I want it even more.

It's a fair guess that big jets tested better with the kiddies. It doesn't matter that Universe is a G1 update; its success still rides on whether the children want it.

Jetfire

While I wish we were getting a bigger Galvatron, I wouldn't want this mold sized up. I thought Cybertron King Starscream seemed too simple at the size he was, and I feel if this Galvatron were merely sized up I would feel the same way.

If we were to get a bigger Galvatron, I'd want a new mold altogether specifically made for a bigger size class.

Even if that were true, no one can tell me kids wouldn't want a nice big tank just as much as a nice big jet, especially since the Universe line will be FULL of them - Acid Storm + repaints, Powerglide + repaints, Silverbolt, the Jetfire mold repaint, Tankor being sold in plane mode, that sorry excuse of an updated Blaster figure, etc. PLUS what already came out via Classics 1.0 in the forms of 3 Seekers & Jetfire PLUS all the Animated characters packaged & sold in jet/plane modes ala Blitzwing, Lugnut, and Starscream with at least 2-3 repaints still to come.

Sorry, but Hasbro's excuse for keeping Galvatron small because of "too many tanks on shelves" is uber bullshit.

You're quite a bit mistaken there. They said specifically that they didn't want to make a BIG tank. Perhaps that has something to do with Leader Brawl's sales...or lack thereof. (I would HOPE that it had something to do with the fact that G1 Galvatron really wasn't by any means a large character. Certainly he isn't any bigger than Cyclonus.)

But at the end of the day, there really isn't much worth in conjecturing about it. The deed is done, and only people with access to the numbers can really say if it was an unwise move in the end.
Thundercracker:
That face looks like knock off quality.
Rodr-Evil:
This figure deserves leader size!
