yes, first thing I thought when I saw it was why would they make such good cover art showing perceptor with a face, then leave the figure with the same old face plate. I'm sure every kid that's going to own one of these is going to be thinking the exact same thing.

I have the original anyway, and the ko and the yellow green ko

at least the yellow green ko has a face

Actually, I think this is pretty much a G1 re-issue. Perceptor actually had pretty good articulation, especially for a figure from back in the day (mostly as a result of his transformation scheme). I'd forgotten about that.

This would have been awful - I'm already fed up of Takara's "upgrades" (term used loosely) to reissues to make them more accurate to that awful 80s cartoon.

I can't be the only one that
a) considers that maybe the toys had it right (being first an' all) and the media was the one that CHANGED things and
b) actually want reissues of original toys to BE reissues of original toys, warts an' all. If you all want some kind of amazing cartoon-looking Perceptor, badger Hasbro for Universe 3.0, not mess up any more G1 reissues.

(Still sore about Trailbreaker and Hoist's blue eyes...)

Anyone know when this will be available? Will the TRU Website have it for pre-order?
