A posting on Transformers newsgroup alt.toys.transformers reveals that Wal*Mart stores will have exclusive two-packs of Cybertron figures marketed under the Universe banner as a Black Friday (Day after Thanksgiving Day) shopping special. Available when stores open on November 23rd will be the "Opposites Attack" set of Excellion & Thundercracker and the "Search for the Pirate Moon" set of Downshift and Cannonball. These sets will be presented on a drop pallet that day, with over 200 sets available. Each set will sell for $10. The packaging for these figures have been seen already, as we previously reported a sighting of these sets in the Philippines in September.

Thanks for the info, lots of good stuff in the various ads there.

Not so much Black Friday, but Target is offering free Scouts with the purchase of a Leader. Considering we just restocked on Op and Megs yesterday...
Orodruin
I'm still expecting the Death Star Vader SWTF to be a big Black Friday item, but I haven't seen that much quantity come in yet.

It's won't be for Target, at least going off the copy of the BF ad that's currently on the internet.

Toys R Us ad is up..

http://www.theblackfriday.com/toysrus_blackfriday.shtml

Star Wars Transformers Millennium Falcon $19.99

Transformers Cybertron Leader Optimus Prime $19.99

nothing worth going for
Dark_Convoy
The Black Friday deals don't seem as good this year as they have been in previous years.
Kickback
WalMart is being anal about their ad, they may have something.

That was on the Black Friday ads last year, for around 5 dollars cheaper IIRC at Target.

Way to go TRU!

Word. Two year-and-a-half-old figures (one of which had a better deal last year, as Deefuzz said)? It's like they're not even trying.

Of course, maybe they don't need to push TFs this year.

So that's why we're getting in a million cases of Cybertron Optimus Prime at my store......

We have been getting about one or two cases in the last two trucks. I was like WTF when I saw them....but they have been selling. I just don't think they're going to sell as well as they hope they will. Especially with the amount we're getting in. People aren't thinking last year's Cybertron, they're thinking this year's Movie.

You got that right. My wife is a department manager at WM and she hasn't even been able to find out what's going to be in the black Friday ad.

I stopped at Walmart this morning and one of the guys that works there said they got in a bunch of PDQ's (end cap trays) full of Transformers for Black Friday. He needed to check, but he thought they were deluxe two packs.
bouncing boy77
cant wait for wm's black friday ad as far as tfs go, coz as of now, the only tf on black friday sale is cyb. prime on tru.
tarheels
After searching for a bit, I found the Walmart Black Friday ad through the messages boards on another wedsite. You can download the ad here http://www.sendspace.com/file/xw3j2l

According to this, the only transformers that Walmart is advertisting is the Voyager class figures for $19.76 and this is good Friday and Saturday. My Walmart already has these on sale for $17.08

The only thing that I am not sure about is that is tells you to check Walmart.com for secret instore Black Friday specials.

Nice, I just bought leader Cyb Prime last week for full price. Guess I'm going to have to get the difference back now.

Are they the red and black or red and blue original colors?

Red and black.

Target has the $10 coupon for the "Darthstar" good till 11/21. The coupons were in the toy catalog, where is also mentions the free movie scout with leader purchase that some one else mentioned.
jbc30
I could use that prime, too bad it is too far a drive
gargunkle
Actually a little tempting if it is the red/black Prime. Hmm...

It appears their big Black Friday thing is the Cybertron Two-Packs (under the Universe banner) that have already been sighted in the Philippines:

Really? Wow. What's with all the old-TFs-as-Black-Friday-items deals this year?

And where the hell are all the Wii game deals, while I'm at it? The Wii doesn't even get a mention in most of the ads I've seen. (Off-topic, I know. Sorry.)
Laser_Optimus
Black Friday is a pretty sad affair this year. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a continuing trend though as a lot of people I talked to last year said they may not even go out again this year as the sales haven't been 'stellar'. Though, the way everyone is trying to keep it super secret doesn't make me want to bother with the sales...

Well, that's a little lame. I don't get why these retail stores that sell toys aren't putting the movie toys on sale. That is what people are thinking right now when they think Transformers: the movie! Not old Cybertron toys.

But then again, I guess they think that the movie toys are selling fine at the price they are now, and will sell regardless. *shrugs*

I think that's the big reason why the movie toys aren't really part of any Black Friday special. They're going to sell well through X-Mas regardless of whether they're part of some sale. From all indications, that's what kids/boys want from Santa. From what I understand too, stores don't (relatively) profit from Black Friday specials. They're meant to get someone in the door that day and to get them shopping. Why just break even on a hot toy? Entice them with these Cybertron/Universe toys and then push them over to the full-price movie toys. $$$CHA-CHING$$$!
Cyro
I really want that Excellion and Thundercracker two pack. I'll try to pick that up!
ViperDragon
With the lead scare in toys, don't expect the toy department to do well this year. The old toys may be because they are "lead-free" (I doubt it though, hard to say how long the toys have been this way). I see a surge in gift cards this year more than most because of the lead issue.

Probably because most stores don't have any Movie Deluxe toys to sell! The stores around my area have been bare for months! I would gladly pick up some of the Movie toys if they went on sale.
omega ranger
So at TRU it's Galaxy Force Optimus Prime and not the regular Optimus?

Edit: Fantastic! Downshift and Cannonball are mine, I already have Thundercracker and Excellion.
Autovolt 127
Thundercracker's will finally be mine.

One would think that means TRU's are getting yet ANOTHER restock of this figure. I don't see it as a deal considering TRU's around NJ and NYC had them on sale for $20.

I'd think Movie figures would be the targets or sales... oh well.
Johnator
My wife and I are thinking about skipping Black Friday this year and normally we are excited to go. It doesn't seem to have many deals that are worth bragging about. Maybe next week will reveal some better stuff.....
Grimwing
woo! I can finally afford cybertron leader prime. glad I decided to pass on the full price metroplex last week. Firetruck Prime rocks! Traffics going to be a pain but by primus thats saving me $20 for dealing with trus bottleneck parking.
MegaHavok
I saw the walmart two pack case sticking out on a black wrapped pallet in the garden center of my local Walmart. Not worth trying to dig it out or anything but yeah they are in stores already
Ktulu
Cybertron Prime for 20 bucks is a good price, but really, just how many of those are still out there?

I work at TRU, and we're overflowing with deluxes. If you want me to pick you up any, let me know, and I'll see what we got.

Just a note, Family Dollar chain stores also have Cybertron leaders for $20.

Really? I've never been to a Family Dollar, and there's one in town. I should check and see if mine even has any TFs.

Thanks!
Altercron
Those Wal Mart packs will be mine. Excillion is an awesome repaint of a great mold. And the other three mlds are all worthy additions to my collection

I'd have to say like Dollar General and Family Dollar. I saw them at Family Dollar before, but I already had them. I've never seen TF at Dollar Tree.

Family Dollar must not be in your area...

BTW, I'll be after those Universe two-packs myself. If only to keep my Universe collection complete. I already have the Cybertron molds.

If you read the first page of the ad (within the LCD TV picture), it tells you to check Walmart's website for secret in store specials that are not listed in the ad.

I would have to take a guess and say this is where they will mention the two packs.
tarheels
I just was on Walmart's website and they have the Excellion and Thundercracker Universe Battle Packs listed.

According to the website they are not sold online and
the price they have listed is $48.88 for both

Here is the link http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=6339288

This makes no sense as each toy sold for $10 in stores when they came out. Suspicious that it's listed as the same price as MP:SS.
tarheels
Either it is a typo or they put the wrong picture with the price
Tim Formas
http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/st...4708349&EDATE=

Official press release contains information about the $10 packs. Supposedly (per the release), the sale price of $10 per pack is only good from 5 AM to 11 AM on Friday. Release also hints that there may be special sales on certain toys (and other things) that we won't know about until they update the site on Thursday.
