Oh man. Such a simple, yet extremely versatile upgrade that also looks fantastic. They did a great job incorporating it into the existing figure. I so can't wait to get this.

The versatility and playability with the various options really make this thing impressive to me. Not only that, but it's simple and looks great. My only regret would be the light on the figure is red..it'd be awesome to get a blue light in there to match with the blue visor on the head unit itself. That's not a fault of the upgrade set and i'm sure it'd be easy to replace the bulb...i just don't know how to do that sorta thing.

Been debating on buying this set, but after watching this, I think I'm definitely gonna order it later.

Great review for a great upgrade set... just wish I had bought Hardhead that one time I saw him at Walmart. "Naw, I'll pick him up later" I said to myself... never to be seen again.

Same as, we never got Hardhead over here, but I turned my nose up at Onslaught so many times, even when he went on sale at half price, then as soon as I wanted him, can't be found bloody anywhere

Great Review! Since you mentioned the LED, I might have to make a Radio Shack run. I'm pretty sure that they don't have Blue LEDs, but they definately have clear, and since the eyes are clear blue, it should work fine.

man, it looks like the hasbro toy was designed around those pieces, not the other way around! I'll be excited to have this finally released. it's what's holding up me shipping a HUGE pile of loot from bbts.

No G1 love?

Not liking how it has to be disassembled to attach it.

I want to know what the G1 neck adapter looks like on it. Can you keep the adapter on the headmaster without it looking dumb?

I'm guessing he doesn't have G1 Headmasters to show off the neck adapter. Otherwise we would have seen it in the video.

From what I've seen, the neck adapter looks just fine with the G1 HMs. Actually gives the G1 HM some head movement too (can turn the head). The top part of the adapter simulates the piece you see on the Onslaught/Hardhead mold after you take the original head off. The other side of the adapter is just your traditional HM meter gimmick clip in.

The money is always well spent when dealing with HeadRobots. I love their work. The Cobra was nice (I have every variation), but this Hothead offering is sensational.

I know what it looks like combined - I want to know what the headmaster looks like in robot mode with the adapter left on. Nobody has shown that yet.

So I'm guessing you don't like loose accessories then? Honestly, I don't think it will look that bad. Most of the adapter should be in the hole behind the hothead small head. The only part sticking up should be the classic tech spec meter part. But yeah, that would be nice to see in a picture or video.

I do apologize for not including it in my video. Because i don't have the G1 toy itself, i admit that i totally forgot about that aspect while filming. If you would like some more angles or anything else, let me know and i'll try to get better pictures...but here are a few...

Thanks. It sticks out higher than I had hoped but it still looks ok.

I think it's mostly because the actual head of the small headmaster figure was originally the connector to the body on the G1 figure. This upgrade seems more geared towards people with the Universe version and not so much the G1 figure so the engineering is a bit different and directed in that way. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

Never have been much on 3rd party stuff but this is just badass. I have to have it, especially since I'm a Headmaster fan. Can't wait till it's released.

Thanks for the review. I grabbed the last Universe Hardhead that I've seen in the area a couple weeks ago for $25. I was on the fence about this, but this video combined with the eBay prices for the G1 guns helped me make my decision to order it. The eBay prices just for the guns are out of control. Ordering this is cheaper and it comes with more. It will start a new PoL for me so I won't get it until they get the next waves of Generations/Shield/Pursuit of Cobra singles.

Cool kit but I'm a bit disappointed the face is showing on Hothead's back in robot mode. A little panel should have flipped down to cover it like on regular deluxe Headmasters.

Hmmm, seems like a rather minor issue IMO. It's not like the original G1 "flap" covered the entire head. Seemed rather silly to me. Almost like pretending there isn't a HM face. The face is just part of the HM gimmick. You can't really get around the issue. That panel "flap" has been more of a band-aide.

It wasn't a band-aid for me. To leave the face visible is just lazy engineering.

Eh, I just don't understand how it's lazy engineering. That's me, though. Rather minor in the scheme of HM toys. I think all the work put into this upgrade is amazing. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over the "face showing" aspect.

I'm having issues with the new head. As soon as I attach it and squeeze the two parts together, if I try turning it, the head splits open a bit and becomes loose. There doesn't seem to be a way to close the head around the neck and be able to turn it without loosening the way it holds together. Is there something I'm not doing right?

Awesome upgrade kit. I haven't been able to put Hardhead down since I got mine last Thusday. The face being visible in the ittle robot mode doesn't bother me at all since I'll rarely be taking it off the body anyway.
