Transformers Prime Weaponizer Optimus Prime Review

Wow, that's pretty early a review! It's rather late so I just managed to catch a bit of it, but really lovely footage and very detailed. I loved that view of the back, at least I know the arms aren't that conspicuous now, at least not as much as I feared. Thanks for this early look!

Awesome and very thorough review. But the magical backpack world of gimmick on this thing kills it for me. Might just get it to go with my other Primes/Convoys. Do better, Hasbro.

im not realy bothered by all his faults and the thing that bothers me the most is the light blue that they used on the head and legs. I like his size, i like the detail, theres a better paint apps on him. the weapon gimmic is pretty neat too. also i see a ultra magnus repaint in weaponizer primes future

Neat gimmick, but 'Damn' them legs are lazy. Especially in truck mode.

The figure itself has its ups and downs, but when comparing with other more kid friendly, larger bots, I think this one has a good balance. His legs being hallow is probably the worst part, but at least they maintain good posability, and the gimmick looks actually pretty good. I'm ok with the backpack.

It's an ok figure. But essentially it's all about the deployable shoulder weapons. The shoulder weapons are cool but worth shelling out for a leader price point? Probably not.

I agree, but leaders, at least in the US, go for $45 now. If this really goes for $30, it's only two thirds the price of a leader. I would certainly feel better getting him for $30.

Thank you for the excellent review Wallas. I actually like this toy better after seeing the review. It isn't the leader Prime Optimus Prime that we collectors want, but for such a large $30 figure, I'm willing to overlook some flaws. I look forward to getting it and Weaponizer Bumblebee. I wonder if there will be an Arms Micron version?

If anything there will be an Arms Matrix version for this, if Takara adds a Matrix compartment that fits behind the chest plates and uses the already existing diode (just blue), it might work.

Also, sorry for not getting any comparisons with Powerizer Prime, but I have not yet received one or bought it, Prime is in Poland some 3 weeks as of now, toywise.

And I wouldn't call him a leader, he's 1/3 lighter and the overall engineering solutions would make him an Ultra at best to me. Seems like Weaponizer will be a whole new class of its own rather than sucessor to Leader.

It does look like it lacks the material and weight (if you can really tell weight by looking) of a leader, but I'm still glad he has good height and articulation. The articulation in particular is what is usually lacking from more play/child oriented figures, so it's nice to see a decent level retained here. He's only really lacking the head range and heals of the voyagers Prime Primes.

That certainly is a pile of fail.

I have to agree, I now can't unsee it at all, it's very off putting.

And I hope to god Hasbro fixes that somehow before the final release state-side.

Because I can totally see mothers having a field day with it.

Especially if he's displayed in the box in Robot Mode.

All kids are gonna do is point and go mommy he's got a red pee-pee and they will shriek in horror.

Like the size, but I think that's the first time cab kibble has ended up on Optimus's ass. Truck mode looks like they just gave up on the back, and the kibble in robot mode is understandable, but still way too much. At least the gimmick is pretty damn cool (for once), its accurate enough, and the transformation is very different from what we have gotten before.

the gimmick is not that bad, the poseability is good, front of the vehicle looks great and the size is ok, but, come on, what the hell with hollow the legs, and exposed arms in vehicle mode, the fake chest, the supremely simplistic transformation and the enormous backpack, and that half the vehicle is just the gimmick, one that is not accurated and doesnt fit the character in any way, and while the gimmick is kinda cool is nothing we really need, and there is not possible to compare it to the movie voyager, i mean, it has a big backpack but not THAT big

It is a shame that all he really need is one hinged panel on each leg that goes over those gaps and he would have been much more appealing. I still will get him at $30, but somehow I can't see stores selling him that low at that size.

I love this figure a little sad about the legs but i love it esp for 30.00 dont know if every store will sell it for that being that Powerized Voyagers are selling at 26.00 at Toys R US i mean serious Hasbro

Utter garbage... I'm so disappointed. Hoping a 3rd party does a leader size mold rip of FE prime.

Yeah, if Voyagers are going for $23-$30, I find it hard to see this going for only $30.

Only at TRU though, well, Shopko too, but regardless of that, most retail stores will keep the prices Hasbro has set up for them, it helps them make more sales that way.

And as for TRU, they typically don't sell many Prime toys unless they're new releases and hard to find, but the TRU by me is loaded with 3 spots full of Voyagers, and 8 pegs of Deluxes, which will never sell quickly.

To me, the Weaponizers will be $30-$33 at Walmart, Target, and K-mart, while $40-$48 at TRU and Shopko.

this. i mean this is more for younger collectors to get them involved in collecting the line, obviously. but neat review nonetheless.

I don't know, for the most part that all sounds true, but Targets around me have marked their voyagers up, some have them up to $30. Regardless, when I see this guy, if he's around $30 I will get him. He just doesn't seem worth $40 or more.

even with the extra money, hasbro still cant make a TFP optimus better than the FE.

That gimmick works really well. A not bad robot mode, too. Pretty good.

I think some people don't understand this is not an attempt at a gimmicky leader class toy, but an attempt at a transforming Stealth Force toy. So the cheats are pretty excusable.

This toy is a definate not buy for me now. The truck mode rear end is horrendous as is the back pack. Its things like that which has ultimately put me off collectiong prime.

Very good and thorough review. The figure is just terrible. Gimmicks kills figures. I can just picture the meeting going like this, "The front half looks GREAT! Um...what about the back half?" "Who cares? It's for kids." "You're right, kids are stupid. They won't care."

Frankly, I'd rather get the Powerizer version than this. And the Powerizer doesn't exactly look all that great itself.

I'd much rather see that spinning weapon gimmick reserved for Cyberverse vehicles / playsets.

That has to be one of the most in depth reviews ive ever seen. Spectacular job showing us what this is all about.

If the price point is really $30, then its not bad at all. I suppose Hasbro may be thinking about a large TF with a lower price point with all the DOTM leaders clogging shelves.

That said, This is really not for me. This really looks like a GOOD kids toy to be played with. Does nothing for me for display, or just to sit and TF back and forth.

I find no interest, but I REALLY think kids will dig this, and if its really IS a lower price point, then Hasbro may have a winner here.

Leaders are dead. Thats the one thing that bothers me.

If it is packaged in robot form it would be displayed weapons out.

This may be the Nemesis Prime of my collection..........(unless one gets produced), Cool fig imo.

Can you get any more TFP figures?

-So it's kind of good. It's almost really damn cool.
-Has a gimmick that's not as intrusive as other but still noticeable.
-Some parts are really cool others are hollow and look kind of rushed.
-It's design is weird but you'll be able to get into.
-It's meant for kids but us long time fans want it to be meant for us. And there a little bit of effort in the direction but not enough.


This is a PERFECT toy for Transformers Prime. The toy and cartoon show have the same review.

According to some ref sound boards I'm using Southern British Formal accent. I generally aim for British accent, which is definitely different from what you're probably used to.

Actually its packed in a way that allows you to both deploy the gatlings and then rewind them back into the back pack while inside the box to show how Weaponizer works. That and the box promotes deployed attack modes as stand alone modes, so they sell him as a quad-changer.
