Airing in Japan on 12 August is a late-night special for Transformers Prime. This special is set to air between 2:45 and 4:45 am Japanese time, and is hosted by the voice actors of Miko, Sierra and Vehicon in the Japanese dub. The content includes a recap of the episodes so far, comments from the cast, a newly filmed Tokyo Joshi-ryu Transformers Club segment (the girl band who appears in a weekly segment airing with the Japanese dub of the show) and a comparison of Japanese and American Prime episode #12 (Predatory) focusing on the director, Yoshikazu Iwanami's take on Airachnid's character.

The show is also supposed to cover past Transformers series.

Check out the (Japanese) advert page here! A huge thanks to 2005 Boards staff member SydneyY for helping us out with a translation.

"Airachnid in the American show is a hunter/destroyer of rare species, a master of manipulation rivaling Starscream himself, and a downright psychotic murderer. But for our show, she is a female Pepe Le Pew. How Kawaii~Desu~!"
Ricochet
Vehicon's voice actor - Yuuki Tai is Robot(including TF) otaku irl. I laughed when I saw him in the official interview he asked "why G1 Menasor doesn't be reissued?" he also did Wheeljack's voice and it was a great job.

I wonder how well the Japanese are taking the Prime kids.

Do they even like Bumblebee over there?

What heresy is this?

Everyone everywhere in the universe loves Bumblebee! Friend Hasbro says so!

What if i told you Hasbro is lying?
Deefuzz
I am interested in seeing this. Are any of the usual groups out there subbing Japanese Prime?
StarryAqua
This will definitely need a sub on Youtube if someone would be kind enough to post it.
Autovolt 127
I'd watch this if it was subbed off course.
OptimusMagnus87
Airachnid is portrayed as a giggly, chatterbox stalker?

....god damnit Japan....

I was trying to look at this last night, thanks SydneyY for translating.

Comes on at a very convenient time, doesn't it? Set those DVR's!!

This would be interesting to see, maybe it could be included in a future DVD release???

OK I am confused. Why would they air this special at 2:45am to 4:45am??? Who are they expecting to watch it? Are kids up at that time in Japan? I know I'd never be up watching TV at that time. What time does the actual show air? Sounds more like they made it and the station had no time for it so they used it to fill some time.
moreprimeland
^^^ Maybe it's that station's version of Adult Swim?!!

I DVR several series at that hour, sometimes I'm even up.

*Japanese dub logic*
Chopperface
I'm going to be very interested to hear what possessed them to change Airachnid from a lethal psychopath into a babbling, hissing, laughing stock in love with a human teenager.

It's most definitely made to air for this time. 2 hours is too long of a timeslot for this special to have been invisioned for another time. It's likely being aimed at the hardcore collector/otaku market rather than kids, as the look back through the franchise's history shows.

Which they finally talk about Yandere Airachnid to the public. I wonder if 10 year kids watching Prime in Japan understand the pervertedness especially since even some kiddie anime has fanservice.

Everyone in Japan is mandated to own a DVR. Violators are pointed at in public.
Anguirus
So I get how you could re-dub Airachnid's first two episodes with her personality...but how the hell do you explain her slaughtering Breakdown and challenging Megatron?
RedAlert Rescue
Those little shorts with the Microns in I'd like to see more of - they are really good for little details like showing how might be a good way to paint your microns.

You can see details in that? The animation quality is so poor, haha.

Don't think Hasbro is lying, haha. Anyone here know whether Optimus Prime or Bumblebee is more popular in Japan?

Yeah quite a lot - you can see that some have blue eyes or the interlimb accent colour on the inside of the arms of O.P. ideal if you want to paint them but make them consistent to some kind of source material too.

Luckily I live in Canada. Though my mom has thought about getting one on sale.
Sprocket
Damn, I forgot all about this. I was hoping to watch it on JPTV. Ah well.
Takao
This airs today, anyone gonna watch? Here's the countdown timer:
Sprocket
I would, but your countdown timer is blocked for some reason.
rxlthunder
I'm waiting for the unofficial sub of this.
Sprocket
Actually, here's a good question:

This isn't being simulcast on TV Tokyo, is it. If that's the case, and you're not in Japan, how are you watching?

Also something tells me your timer was off, Takao: It would've ended just now, and started at 1:45 Eastern. I think you mixed up your time zones there.
Takao
So has no one recorded this at all to provide a summary?
