Transformers Prime Cyberverse Optimus Maximus Product Demo

Posted on 08-06-2012 at 04:44 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Prime
The official Transformers Youtube Channel has updated with a minute long product demo video of the Transformers Prime Cyberverse Optimus Maximus. The video demonstrates the various features and gimmicks of Optimus Maximus in a rather broad fashion - check it out, embedded below:

That sure was enthusiastic. I'm hyped.
StayingInTheBox
That was ... underwhelming.
Omega Charge
The thing was already major "meh", and this didn't help at all. Oh well, I think it would be great for kids though.
Starfire22
The thread title is misleading, this isn't a commercial.

But man, this guy sounds so uninterested in the toy.
friendship pony
what a piece of shit
WhiteMocha
My last few times at Target I've picked this thing up and considered it... but as much as i like Cyberverse, I just can't pull the trigger on this one. It's big, but it's ugly, and definitely falls into the "non-essentials" category. The only reason I can come up with to buy it is that it would encourage the creation of other (better) basebots.

Didn't the gobots do this like 20 years ago?
Ratchets Hatch
Is it just me, or are those "battle sounds" just radio static?
Dinodigger97
So now he's a "Transforming mech suit that's based on someone and is controlled by that same someone and is under the label of Transformers".......uh..

Star Wars did it better.
flywheels
I'll wait for it to hit clearance at Target before pulling the trigger.
harv3ster
I got it just to store my cyber verse autobots and their weapons. You can cram 2 figs in the leg compartments and the 3 commanders (not including ultra Magnus) across the top (bulkhead, prime, and ironhide). I keep wheeljack in his "play set"
Chaos Muffin
If Armada Overload & Cybertron Prime had a baby...
Skeeve
I think radicons might get more out of it due to the head and accessories than your average buyer.

That's insulting to Go-Bots! At least the Go-Bots one turned into a jet and 4 mech suits. The Optimus Maximus just lays down. Over 20 years later and Gobots was SUPERIOR!

BTW - Did you know Cyberverse figures fit inside Go-Bot Power Suits?

deaculpa
This would have been better as metroplex.
Infosaur
Hideous brick. Seriously haven't we moved on from this type of dreck by now?

(Am I the only one that thinks the whole thing looks like a "parts tree" from a model car kit?)

That IS better, and I wouldn't buy that either.
mikenoynoy
My son and I saw this at Target the other day. We looked at each other and laughed so hard. Then we looked up and saw FOC Shockwave! Awesome!!!!
NCStarscream
Not a fan. Even less a fan of the Bumblebee one.
moreprimeland
I can't believe that's even a real commercial. Just doesn't have the usual Hasbro flair when they do ads. Guess I'll find out if I ever see it on TV.

Well played sir. Well played.

Im sorry, the more I see this, the more it looks like a big hunk of S--t. Yes, that may be from a collector and not a kid's viewpoint, but I would feel embarrassed giving this thing to any of my friend's kids. Come on, did they even put any thought into the "battle station mode?" Is a kid going to look at that and say, "yup, this is clearly a battle station." At least the other cyberverse vehicles at Walmart actually resemble something reasonable. This thing just turns in from Half-Ass Optimus Prime into Half-Ass Optimus Prime sitting down.
opt1musaber
Commercial? This thing tries to be like a Fort Max, but it's a hollow pos.
Cyber-Scream
What an inspiring advertisement. I suddenly feel inclined to make this purchase.
Chaplain
Cool, a giant Optimus Prime that turns into an armchair.

Day 1 purchase.
ssjkazer
wow i waisted my time watching that i feel sad for the toy if i get my hands on it if i decide to buy it i will make it a better promo
Gingerchris
It's like an anti-advert. I was originally interested, but now after seeing this I'm not.
optimus1
I remember this and i have to say cooler then Optimus Maximus
Driftx3
What a poorly articulated POS. He sits down and you rotate his feet and head and that's a vehicle?

Sigh, probably gonna buy this hideousness anyway...

Posts such as this are why we need a like button.
GigatronSama
Needs to be less hollow. I realize that they want it to hold a lot of figures, but they could cover those spots with hatches or something. Maybe spend less on lights and sounds and more on actual working parts.
ahchu
This video cements the fact that I'm not gonna be a completist in regards to this line even though I wanted to originally. Still, I'll pick this up when/if I see it on clearance.

*Voices heard from all directions*

"Me Grimlock no like you!"

"Soundwave superior."

"I, Galvatron, will crush you, just as Megatron crushed Prime."

"Uhhh...what'd he say his name was?"

"Don't act hostile. I'll use the universal greeting."
AMG
It wouldn't look so bad if it more solid. Instead it looks like it was blasted point blank with a shotgun.

Yeah, it's like the design brief was to make as big a figure as they could using as little plastic as possible and some bright spark said 'We can fill him with loads of holes and make everything hollow!'.

It's like making a Deluxe with a Legends-worth of plastic. Or since this is bigger, a Leader with a Deluxes-worth. Or is it supposed to be Supreme-sized? Well, apply as required.
Silk Spectre
I've loved the Cyberverse line, but this thing is just awful to me. And that demo somehow managed to actually make it look worse.

I love the Ark, and like Wheeljack's ship and Knockout's driller..... This is just.......ugh. It doesn't even look like a base.

You hit the nail on the head, this was my line of thinking as well.
JPrime
Is Michael Bay designing toys for the other lines now? Jeez that thing is a mess.
Esquilax79
I have to say thanks to everyone who commented. After watching the video I KNEW I had to go in to get a laugh and it was better than I hoped! The comments to this just made my day.
Philip164
Why did he call the Batteries Demo Batteries?

I'll probably buy this for a display, but he is on the end of my to buy list; There are Kre-Ons and FOC things first.
barrelks
After watching the video, I had to seek this out in person, and found it today. I thought the video was goofy, but the package with the cardboard cutout of Optimus riding inside of it is even worse. I don't see parents even being conned into this one.

Also saw the $30 Prime and BB (can't keep track of names of lines anymore). As much as I want to be a deluxe+ completionist on this line, I don't see how I am going to be paying full price for those things. Was dead set on grabbing one of them today, but just couldn't do it.
scoobsterinc
Meh never liked it but thats just my opinion
GAUGE0001
Yup, it's a piece of Junk
Weirdwolf
Easily passed upon. No interest at all here.

If you buy it I firmly believe you will help convice Hasbo that there is a market for more Baseformers. Maybe they will make a new Metroplex, hopefully an FOC version, if the get a good response.

Personally, I don't think its quite that bad, but its definetly not all that. But this is the first non-movie big bot, in how long?

Join the Club I picked him up over the weekend, and I am really hoping for future 3rd party upgrade for him.

Yup, and I can see the brand slowly devolving back into this. I guess that is a good thing if you liked it though.
