Transformers: Prime Beast Hunters Voyager Class Predaking Pictorial Review

Once again, thanks to bbs.78dm.net we have another extensive gallery of the other Beast Hunters Wave 1 voyager, Predaking! This black, orange and silver dragon of death is shown here in both of his modes, with his twin dragon launchers and swords at the ready, and in package photos. Also shown is just how poseable this figure is in his beast mode. Predaking's dragon mode can be posed on all fours, on his hind legs and if you prefer him flying, you can have all four limbs at his side. It's quite remarkable looking.

I wonder what colour his Glyphs are picked out in CGI form ? or what they Translate to.

Anyone noticed if any other BH Toys have Glyphs on them ?

This isn't really the fault of the toy (or maybe it is) but he looks very plain and uninteresting besides the face sculpt. Maybe I'll like him more once we get to know his character, but for the menacing, big-bad hype Hasbro has given him thus far, he's just not visually striking.

Looks wicked, but will wait for the bigger one. On a high note, looks like figures will be getting catalogs again.

I wasn't originally planning on getting him, but now if I see Predaking in stores I'll definitely be picking him up!

(It helps that he's orange; my favorite color!

) That robot mode especially looks amazing!

For a highly poseable, 3-headed, Halloween-colored dragon-bot with some quirky transformation steps, Predaking manages to be incredibly unexciting.

If compared to Prime, he's much weaker! The dragon mode's gotta go! The bot mode is okay, I do love the head sculpt though! I can pass, if not, I'll just get 1 so I can have a sealed figure of him.

Not a bad design at all. Robot mode is slightly better. But I'm holding off until I see pics of the larger Predaking figure.

I think the large unpainted orange sections hurt him quite a bit, if there was some black detailing to break it up it would look much better. I dig the BW Dinobot style hands and the look overall so unless the larger one comes out around the same time Ill probably grab both.

He's not as eye popping as his wave mate Optimsu Prime but he still looks good. I'll probably get both this and the Leader/Ultra/Supreme figure comming later.

Once again I find the face on the CG render much more pleasing to the eye than the one on the toy itself, which seems to have a wrinkly scowl. Also, the white-on-black of the legs makes it look like he's not wearing pants even more than is usual for TFP.

When those things are put together I can't help but be reminded of, of all people, Squidward.

Edit: Well, it was worth a shot.

Meh, he looks alright. More interested in the deluxe beasts, this guy just looks boring to me. He almost looks like they tried to bring Cybertron Scourge into Prime Universe, but failed. Maybe the larger version will look better.

Hrmm. I almost like him. Almost. He has no neck and his overall design is still uninteresting, but in some poses he looks quite dynamic. I'll still hold out for the bigger version. Also, he looks nice in CGI.

If the orange on the shoulders and wings was broken up by a bit of black, he'd look way better. And his face is the same old generic Prime face shape so many characters share.

Looks decent and the leg transformation is more complex than I'd expected. Not keen on the 'hydrafire blasters' or the BW-esque tailsword, though.

Agreed. I really like what I'm seeing here, especially with the posability in both robot and dragon modes. The beast mode in particular looks like it was inspired heavily by Maleficent's dragon form in Sleeping Beauty, which is pretty awesome since Maleficent is an awesome villain. Also, where is this talk of an Ultra class figure coming from? Can anyone point that out to me?

I think this turned out pretty decently. I'll wait for the larger version but if that doesn't turn out too good, I will buy this voyager class version.

Is that even supposed to be a robot? It just looks like a generic Japanese dragon-man thing, not remotely Transformers at all.
