Megatron-Darkness-48
For tonight's new gallery I'd like to draw your attention to the latest addition to our galleries by our photo staff member SydneyY. Here for your enjoyment tonight is the recently released in Japan Megatron Darkness, from the Transformers Prime Arms Micron series. Megatron Darkness is the debut of the Voyager Class Megatron mold from the Transformers Prime line for the Japanese market, and features a cool darker color scheme and two Arms Microns, Gora II and Hades. The overall effect is a much more demonic / dark warrior looking Megatron, more in line with the fully Dark Energon infused version seen in One Shall Rise than the US release Megatron.

Nice photo gallery Sol.
I still personally think the chrome paint makes the figure look bad, but I love his two Micron, especially the Hades Micron.

Thanks, though this one is all the work of SydneyY, so please give him all the praise

I think the deco is very sharp, though I agree that I don't care for the chrome. If that dark gray on the legs had been used on the chest and shoulders as well, it would have looked far nicer IMO, and I'd have picked one up at AA this weekend had that been the case.
Dinodigger97
He looks pretty good. Not much a fan of the black juck piece....but that's me.

Though the Minicons are just badass looking.

was thinking the same thing. but i still bought this lol. i think i might leave the stickers off on megs this time.
BraveMax
The chrome has really grown on me. It works really well with the clear purple running throughout him, and on Hades. I agree that dark grey might have been better... But in person, the chrome doesn't bug me. It has an odd kind of brushed look to it that makes it seem like they used a different chroming technology than they have before... Here's hoping this chrome doesn't flake.

Only thing I wasn't keen on this figure was the tacky stickers, and that's from someone who has loved AM series stickers so far. I hate those silly squiggles....now that the photos are done, I'm going to peel them off.

I'm wondering how Gaia Unicron looks like....I hope Megs D and Unicron's deco could compliment each other and the chrome will make more sense
Stepper
The extra wing sure make it look awesome

Is the plastic darker than the original? That's what it looks like.

Compared to Hasbro version? I don't have it, but from what I saw of him on the shelves, Megatron Darkness has much darker grey and black plastic.
Stepper
Right on, Hasbro Megatron is of much lighter grey & it is more show accurate to me than the Darkness Megatron.

thanks Syd! great pics! still loving all those clear plastic AM's!
bigkid24
I'm loving the scythe mode for the micron!
Stepper
Arms Micron Hades is sure one cool AM

À lot darker.

Hmm donno, think I might pass. I really don't like that alt mode.
RedAlert Rescue
The Alt mode can be Transformed a bit better than the instructions imply.

I'd suggest flipping the belly plate around and having the wide bit facing forwards the trapping the chest plate sides over that then (different from the official way) put the wings a notch lower so they come from the side of the body and don't perch on top of them and then they can be slotted into the gaps in the back of his shoulder plates too which makes for a much cleaner look.
Lastly his feet should be pointed backwards as this replicates the trailing engine parts megatron has quite well (rather than fold them up).

I'd be tempted to either add a tone of silver paint to him to even the whole look out or buy a can of smoke spray laquer and spray that all over his chest and shoulders not sure I'd need another Dark Megatron though with the Shadow Blade coloured one coming out in America which is a much nice "Black Megatron" so I'd probably be more likely to lighten him up to match the chrome - and that would also make him look more like the smaller AM Megatron too.

He's worth buying for hims Microns alone though - I can't see me paying much more than £30.00-£40.00 for him though. As If I was paying a premium for him I might as well spend that money of FE Bulkhead or Breakdown instead and just hope that Hades comes out as a single packed toy.

For those of you who suggested chroming the face causes loss of detail, and didn't read the feedback thread.

Looking at it in hand, that doesn't appear to be the case. The head sculpt has some deep recesses anyway, so chroming it simply means that the light catches it in a certain way.
Meta777
Oh wow; I love that chrome detail. It really adds such a shiny flair to Megs that you wouldn't really expect from the dark warlord. It's like he forged himself out of pure silver and went to the finest car-wash in existence!

That purple cannon is really cool; helps purple is my favourite colour. Got a nice dark colouring to it, and I find it utterly hilarious when Megs is wearing those wings on his back. He's like some kind of shiny robot angel of doom or something XD

Great pictures, Sol
Stepper
I will prefer they the paint job which is similar to the FE Megatron than chrome.

I would rather they chrome the whole figure than the shoulder & chest.

I agree it would look better all chromed or all dark greys. The two just seem to clash together in my opinion. Maybe it looks better in person, but from pictures I am not a fan of this.

same, if his arms and legs were also chromed this would be a must have figure, as is it comes across as 1/2 done..

CRAP! you know how you wake up some morning and realize "Dang that was just a dream"....yeah I guess those BBTS pre-orders on individually sold Hades figures aren't happening just yet....
rpetras
Excellent gallery.

This is much cooler than I expected. Loving the color scheme.

Just got the ship notification on mine today.

@ SydneyY can I ask for a picture request? Can you take a picture of Darkness Megatron using a dark background? Black? Navy blue? Dark gray?

I'm thinking that the half chrome was meant to evoke a 'punisher-like' image where the skull on his shirt would be the first thing that would be seen. In Megatron's case, out of the darkness, the upper half of the body would emerge then the purple scythe....

SydneyY
^that image is spooky and matches him pretty well

I ran off to take some photos after reading half of your post (I thought it was a great idea!) and missed the "scythe later" bit >_<

*for anyone who hasn't checked out the feedback thread by zephon yet*
In the feedback thread [soundwave] has posted a couple of beautiful images of megatron Darkness - post #18

Oh man. So my AM-15 didn't come with instructions for Hades. Anybody willing to snap a relatively high res pic of the instruction page? If this is an inappropriate request or should be handled differently. My bad.
