TakaraTomy Update - Arms Micron Swerve And Airachnid

The red on AM Swerve seems more brownish than the leaked Tokyo Show pics. AM Airachnid has a little more detail than the Hasbro one but I'm not buying that mold, ever.

I like Swerve's head.

Pass and pass. Boy, with the exception of Breakdown and Jet Vehicon, Takara is making it extremely easy to pass on their versions!

I don't get it. What about this mold isn't "made to specification?" It's got translusent bits in the arms and torso so just slap on a shitty powerizer gun and be done with it releasing it. Heck just repaint the Magnus hammer and you're set for a Breakdown Hasbro. They even had the dosh to toss out two other molds, priority given to a no-name beast former and Ultramagnus as another (currently) non-show character.

I actually like Swerve more than I like Breakdown. Mainly because I never cared for Breakdown as a character. Also because his arms micron is a buzzsaw! I love me some buzzsaws, that's for sure!

I really like Swerve; I stupidly cancelled my preorder for him a while back, and regret it now that it's sold out. Gonna try to snag one when it comes in stock.

We're never going to get a decent Arachnid, are we? And putting her beside Swerve/Breakdown you see how awesome he is, is exactly, how lame she is. And Swerve is very very awesome!

I'll get Swerve to reporpose him as First Aid, I'll stick to the US release of Airachnid.

I'll probably stick with the now happenstance of getting RiD Airachnid in the upcoming wave3/4 revision case, though with the cool reception the mold is getting in general, Takara's version could be easily obtainable for awhile, should I have a change of heart based on nothing at all and/or clearer photos. Her Arms Micron is cool in their growing tradition of unusual figures.

Swerve's AM on the other hand, looks surprising conventional, and is still quite cool, as far as I get into that kind of thing. I could see myself getting this, particularly of the two, though I cannot really comment on how in character things like he mold reuse, headsculpt or flashy deco are, as he has/might not appear in the fiction. I wonder how Fallback/Outback might look in this size; the Cyberverse toy looks to be a refreshing break from him sharing molds or appearances with Brawn. The upcoming so called Asia Exclusive Brawn isn't exactly my top priority from that line though.

Arachnid is easy: "FTP" (fuck that puta). Swerve...I know I WANTED to want him, but... not so sure.

I want both their Minicons, no doubt, but I want all the AM Minicons. I'll need to see better pics of Swerve (especially his head) to better determine a choice.

For now, I'm cool to get Generations Swerve (Kup recolor/retool) for a Swerve (to replace the RotF one).

Um... Breakdown (the original mold) isn't coming to the states. If he's not coming, then Swerve is never coming.

No (outside of MTMTE). Swerve just seems to be the name of choice when they want to do a random red repaint of a a car or truck that doesn't look like one of the more well known red cars.

Mainly due to the fact that Hasbro repaint guy Joe Kyde likes him.

Swerve looks gorgeous. I'm not going to jump on him straight away though (maybe eventually). Airachnid is quite obviously out of the question. Though she is cheaper for me to import from Japan than buying the Hasbro one. But I still won't go near that abomination. Never ever ever.

Glad I preordered Swerve. Even more glad that he has a new head. He'll join my "not core cast" Autobot shelf with Hot Shot, Cliffjumper, and Wheeljack.

Seeing how I can't seem to find Airachnid at American retail (despite reports of how supposedly crappy this figure is), guess I'll pick up AM Airachnid when I get to Japan (along with maybe AM Arcee). Tired of playing scalper games Stateside.

Who did we offend at Hasbro to not be getting any Breakdown action, repaint or otherwise?

I seriously doubt it has anything to do with gimmicks. To hazard a guess, Breakdown failed the toy safety checks (drop-test, etc.) and fixing the mold so he'd pass just isn't cost-effective.

Honestly, Hasbro's bringing FEs back and releasing those "Asia-exclusives" to a much wider audience. Why would they let a gimmick (or lack thereof) stop them from selling a major recurring TV show character?

It does not have translucent plastic in the right place to fall in line with the gimmick. The part of the arm it pegs into is opaque plastic.

I don't think anyone who has brought this up really believe it is THE reason for the figure not being brought over. I believe it is just a side affect of the figure being developed solely by Takara.

The Powerizer light isn't always in the same place as the plug point it isn't in Megatron for example.

And the best spot to put a decent sized gun Breakdown is his shoulder anyhow - Though as been pointed out it's not that hard to release the Takara Mould unaltered and just pack it with a repainted Magnus Hammer weapon.

I hope some kind of Voyager Breakdown does come out in the west ideally a Breakdown who is suitable for bantering with Knockout and commiserating with vehicons over Blue Collar matters. Something I can't so easily say about a glorified Brainmaster toy Silas version.

As a US release I'd pick him up. Since he's a non US release though I'm gonna give him a pass.

No it isn't. It's clear plastic. It's just painted. It's the same piece as the windows, which are clear.
