After a few days of speculation on whether or not Beast Hunters Smokescreen's spikey armor can be removed or not, we finally have an answer thanks to an in-hand gallery on ACToys. This gallery shows off the toy with and without the armor we've previously seen in other shots, showing off the mostly screen-accurate robot mode that is hidden underneath the armor, giving those who weren't happy with Arms Micron Smokescreen an option for a more accurate toy.

Beast Hunters Smokescreen will be released in the second wave of Beast Hunters deluxes alongside Bulkhead, Starscream and the Predacon Ripclaw.

I'll have the best of them up on the frontpage in a bit. Please bear with me for a few more minutes
Dolza_Khyron
i do like this more everytime i see it.

So potentially Beast Hunters Smokescreen - blue kibblepack = regular Smokescreen?
WoundSave
Very nice, but they can paint the red and blue detailed 38 on the side, but not his red crests on his face.

But still very nice.
Sol Fury
I was thinking that. Might have to see if a head swap with the Takara-Tomy remold is a possibility, because I think I prefer the look of the head on that one.

He's elevated from "no" to "possibly" in my book. Almost wish I'd held fire on the Arms Micron one now!
worldruined
Gah, so cute! That poor thing (why so blue, Smokescreen??) needs to be let out of the package so he can beat up 'Cons and play immature pranks on unsuspecting (but deserving) humans.

I can't wait for this release.
Rexidus
Again, this looks like it might have potential. I'll eagerly await reviews but I might just pick this up if I can de-Beast Hunters him.

Also I'm still very surprised this even exists. Since Takara did the AM version I would have assumed they knew Hasbro was not doing a version of the character.
MrFX
He looks better than expected. He's actually got his own mold like he should have from the start.
Fallout
i still prefer the AM.
Heat Guy
Looks good, if the blue junk is indeed removable I'll pick him up.

Given the timescales of the lines, Takara-Tomy must have known. I suspect the reason for not using him in their own line was either because the mold simply wasn't available in time because Hasbro was fine-tuning it for their release, or possibly because like us Takara-Tomy thought the inaccurate spikes might not have been removeable. It might even be that Takara-Tomy were working on the remold before Hasbro started working on theirs, though that would imply this toy went from engineering concept to packaged article in about six months. I think the average TF takes about 8-12 to pull off.
changepas39
I cannot wait to have him!!!!
Jazz210
OK when is he getting released cuz I would like to throw my money at him. I anticipate his release.....
Lazerwave

Yeah, I really want to see some like that.
Bossguy
Not totally show accurate, but I'm sure people will paint him up to be the smokescreen he should be.
CodeXCDM
The new Beast Hunters figures/retools are quite nice overall IMO... but I gotta say... a number of the paint apps are... fuuuugly. Namely Soundwave and now the new Smokescreen mold.

Take it once Takara gets their hands on the BH molds... folks will want their repaint of BH Smokescreen... hopefully they limit stickering and add a bit more paint though...
miscreant
It will (probably) do.
oscarnjboy
I can't wait either...to whip out the dremel and cut those horrible things off! lol
bumblebeeprime2
i will buy two for one for season 2 version and one for the Beast hunters version!

for the season 2( i will take of the amor) and season 3 (leave the amor on)! cant wait to buy 2 of him!
Kantus Prime
Now I AM going to get this!
Reaper Cloud
Nice images this time.

I won't go crazy over the lack of 100% show accuracy, since this figure (to me) is WAY better than the Knock Out repaint/resticker. I will definitely buy this guy once it's out.
iacon45
First and foremost, I am happy that Hasbro is releasing a Smokescreen to those US fans who didn't like or want to pay the extra for AM Smokescreen. Personally, I think I'm happier with my AM Smokescreen. It's probably the way its painted, but his face looks too much like Starscream.

This also brings up a couple of possibilities. Hasbro released a brand new mold for Smokescreen where Takara went with a repaint. I wonder if that means Hasbro has a BH Shockwave planned. Also speaking of Hasbro debuting a new character mold, I wonder if Hasbro will release their own version of Breakdown.
Timesynch
Looks promising so far. I don't see any checkerboard design under the 38s on the door wings but I'm sure Reprolabels will take care of that. Some of the color choices are a bit odd (like the blue on the head/face instead of red, and red knee spikes instead of black) but I suppose that's relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. Aside from the (presumably removable shadow quill armor), the sculpt on this guy looks pretty solid and accurate, faux chest notwithstanding. Consider him bought.
Ellamin
hmm, It'll hinge on the car mode...
Burnout
If that stupid beast spikey armor comes off this will be the first prime toy i have bought since series one. I hope it does cause i like this character AND mold alot. AND it will be one of the rare times Hasbro is BETTER than their takara counterpart.
WheelWave140
WHY? Why does his face look like Starscream?!? AND WHY DID I WASTE MONEY ON THE AM VERSION!?
bny888
I like.... But the head, is it the same as Knockout's (I don't have a Knockout figure yet)?
Surge
Faux kibble or not, I need this. A good character like Smokescreen is not worthy of being a cheap repaint on my shelves.
Cha Chi
He looks every bit the part... It was inconceivable they wouldn't do this red white and blue sports car figure... They(Hasbro) did promise they'd do all the characters and everyone should be patient...

Really good they spared him permanent spiky BH look, good decision there.

Now were is the spikey version damn it. Kidding..
ORIO
Looks great. What the hell am I gonna do with the AM version sitting in my POL?
Transformed
This is by far the BEST BEAST HUNTER toy! Sadly, this'll probably be it

I have Knockout and the head on Smokescreen looks nothing like KO.

Now there is just the question of is there a solid vehicle hood under there?

I do really hope so, because this figure does look really promising.
[Wing_Saber-X]
still kinda underwhelming for me

Thanks!

Ok iv Seen enough pics of him, NOW TAKE MY MONEY!

Wow, that head (paint aside) is more accurate than the AM version. It's fairly accurate, well painted aside from the noggin, and the blue armour is detachable. (Which makes it less "Blue nonsense I don't care about" to "optional play feature") I'm not into prime, but this looks like a solid toy by itself.
Exodus
Awesome, this one I'll def get two of then to go with the main Prime stuff.
