Courtesy of TFW2005 user megatroptimus, we now have in-hand images of two of the toys from the “Upscaled Cyberverse” waves of the Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters toyline, specifically the new Voyager Optimus Prime and Deluxe Bumblebee.
As stated at BotCon 2013, these new toys are more or less upscaled pre-existing Cyberverse designs under the concept of having simpler transformations for the child demographic similar to the Fast Action Battler concept. While the toys may not be your cup of tea, check out the photos of the toys by taking the jump.

Looks like my DOTM stuff might not have been that bad after all…
(although I never agreed with perspective, anyway).
Valkysas
I'm 31, looking at that Optimus thinking "I will happily $20 for a huge-ass version of that figure, because that figure was f'ing cool"
LegendAntihero
I still don't see how this is better for kids. We've already got these figures in legion size on toy shelves. I doubt kids are thinking "I want to pay more for the exact same figure but only bigger".
Hollywood Hoist
I hope they do repaint the voyagers, I'm not interested in them as Op and Predaking, mainly because I have those characters, so if they redeco them into different characters, I'll pick them up.
That Guy
Definitely going to pick up (and repaint as Thunderclash, eventually) the new OP mold, probably don't see myself picking up any of the autobot cars, but I'd sure be down for all the upsized Predacoc/Terrorcons and Insecticons Hasbro ends up throwing our way (please make it all of them).
Question, is it still looking like Generations is going to be the line holding the movie toys, and if so, might this be an indication that this line won't just be a stop gap until the movie toys come out?

Wow, this thread.
Hollywood Hoist
Spoken like a parent of NONE and selfish fan.
Afterburner
It isn't sales maximization, it is cost cutting.
Also, I could really care less how complicated or simple a transformation is, as long as both modes look nice. Unfortunately, that Bumblebee looks like something a very sick person leaves in the toilet in both modes.
IgnikaMarcus
I went back and added a few words to the first sentence.
Shin Densetsu
Someone brought up how much Hasbro made last year or last quarter and the more accurate correlation seemed to be with declining profit/sales and trying to cut costs moreso than appealing to kids into electronics.
Shizuka
I'll admit that Optimus looks nice but geezus, this whole "let's make TFs simple because kids these days are morons" thing is getting out of control. Transformers had been going on just fine for the last 25 or so years with having to dumb it down now suddenly in the age where kids have tablets we need to dumb things down? Connection?
Neo Tallgeese
It almost has to be this big to justify having a similar price tag to the more complex voyagers.
Hollywood Hoist
And yet, you assume all collectors think Bumblebee is crap. I like this new approach to simpler Transformations. Do I wish it had a little more articulation, sure, but to me it's not crap.

It's too bad they wasted these oversized versions of Cyberverse toys on characters that already flood the shelves. I mean, I guess they have to, 'cause marketing and popularity or whatever, but I'm sure just about everyone here* would've preferred a larger Insecticon or Breakdown (even if not the best quality) to yet another Optimus or Predaking.
* Yes, yes, I know "here" makes up maybe 10% of the sales. I don't care.
I also kinda wish they'd do the opposite size-change, Deluxe/Voyager to Cyberverse. Obviously a lot more work is involved, but I'd love to have a Legion Ripclaw and Lazerback and Grimwing to go with Abominus. Oh well, I'm sure AoE will give us plenty of little robot-dragon things to go with them…

it takes you almost 5 minutes to transform leader starscream?.. as bumblebee said in dotm .. "did you eat paint chips as a kid" lol. i'm kidding.
but you're totally right.
with star wars they now have the 6" and 3.75" black figures for collectors.. and more simpler 3.75" figures for kids.. which surprisingly seem to LOVE hanging on their pegs and don't want to move.. i wonder if hasbro will get the hint.
.. so why can't they do the same for transformers?.. why does everything need to be simplified.. aren't cyberverse and rescue bots enough? i mean, almost every character gets a cyberverse figure made for it, not to mention there are also playsets for kids in that line. why the hell do they need to simplify everything? it just doesn't make sense.
from reading these boards.. it's hard enough already to attract the adult collector to the movie toys. but now they're going to simplify them and possibly exclude some potential customers because of the lower quality. as for kids, they're going to get it if it looks cool anyways. plus parents are less likely to pay an MSRP of $14.99 for a deluxe. they're WAY more likely to pick up a $10 cyberverse commander.
so.. not only are deluxes going to be $14.99, but they're also going to be simpler. so, the price isn't attractive to parents, and the simplicity and lack of detail is going to be less attractive to a collector. it just seems like a lose lose situation to me. i can't even count the number of times i've heard a parent tell their child that they have a $10 limit. now, with deluxes being that much closer to $20, i can just see a lot of shelf warming.
i'm just EXTREMELY concerned for this upcoming movie line.
first, i really doubt they have the licenses to give us faithful representations of the vehicles, add that to their new philosophy and the more trans-morphed than trans-formed look of the TF4 bots (prime and bumblebee).. and i see a big disaster.
also, hasbro really isn't helping themselves when it comes to masterpiece figures.. that just seems like REALLY EASY money for them if they were able to keep up with takara. i guess they see MP acid storm shelf warming and think it's not worth it .. though acid storm should never have been released to begin with. it should've been starscream.
just about every new mold masterpiece figure has been hard to find and has sold out at TRU.. seeing how far behind hasbro is, you'd think they'd want to pump them out. i just don't understand it. they could package sideswipe and red alert as a two pack, or have a three pack of prowl, smokescreen, and bluestreak.. or something. i don't get it.
oh well. this prime looks awful. that green is truly unsightly.. and the lack of articulation for its size is a damn shame.
predaking looks great, but the smoky translucent grey/black looks really shitty and REALLY hurts a toy that could've been pretty cool. but of course, leave it to hasbro to screw up something that could've been special.
oooooooo ratchet joints.. really? .. that's a selling point? the original pales in comparison? .. really? why, because it's smaller than this one? if that's the case, why not get the supreme sized one? .. that one looks a hell of a lot better than this crap. who the hell wants to get a figure like this then have to paint it yourself? these aren't model kits. there really isn't anything this figure does better than the original voyager. the only thing i like better is the head sculpt.. other than that.. it's less accurate, it's too simple, it's got ridiculous colors that don't fit, the sword is WAY too small in comparison to the actual toy, unlike predaking where the larger size fits.. primes size just doesn't fit with the rest of the collection, and overall it just looks like a fisher price prime.
you can like this figure.. but it in no way "pales in comparison" to the original.
Chopperface
I'd like an upscaled Breakdown, maybe to a Deluxe? Hardshell, Megs, Ironhide would also be nice, even if Megs and Hardshell's alt modes aren't really much to begin with.
I wish we'd gotten Cyberverse Darksteel and Sky Lynx or Predacons that remotely
IgnikaMarcus
Bumblebee, yes, to most anyway. Prime on the other hand, some of us collectors actually like him. Don't type as if you speak for the entire collector base. No one person speaks for ALL TF collectors.
