Greg Weisman writing episodes for Transformers Prime and Rescue Bots

Here is some good news - in an interview with World's Finest, writer Greg Weisman mentions he has done some work, freelance, writing for the current incarnations of Transformers, Transformers Prime (Beast Hunters we assume) and Rescue Bots. For those not familiar with Greg Weisman, he is an expert at crafting intricate stories filled with characterization and clever twists. You might have seen some of his work in Gargoyles, the Spectacular Spider-Man or Young Justice.

These will most likely be one-shot episodes given his freelance role in the series, but if they are half as awesome as an episode of any of those three series we are in for a treat.

Truly, he is the Joss Whedon of animation, at least in terms of his shows all getting canned.

At least they tend to be good while they last.

YAY! He wrote for Rescue Bots. MEANWHILE.... Prime's suckiness even affected Marty Isenberg, so yeah, don't have my hopes up high for TFP.

Still, freelance or not, if an episode of Prime is half as good as his work on Gargoyles or Young Justice, we are in for a treat.

A guy can dream! Granted it'd probably go the way of Animated and his other shows, but one can only hope.

Marty Isenberg has only written four episodes.

Triage and New Recruit? Those were both pretty awesome episodes. Of the four Isenberg has written, only one was particularly poor (Crossfire), one was just decent (Op.Bee), and two were actually good episodes. Especially Triage.

The only reason you people keep dissing on Crossfire was because Breakdown died. The whole episode was intelligently written and fun, I think you're letting that one thing get to you.

That's not the only reason why some people hate the episode. Others were mad about how Arcee seemed to have fogotten her development from Partners and reverted back to her old ways by chasing Airachnid and the whole dead partners thing.

Anyway that's neat! The man who wrote episodes for Gargoyles and Spectacular Spiderman is certainly awesome news!

Maybe I was too hasty in calling it poor, but I was still not fond of it. Primarily because of Airachnid; I hate the character and everything about her, and the focus on her in Crossfire didn't change my attitude toward her. The rest of the episode was okay, but Airachnid in general just makes it not as good as it could have been (maybe if she was a better character, I'd like the episode a bit more).

Bob Forward wrote for RB. Yes, one of the brilliant masterminds behind BW worked on another worthy cartoon.

I never liked TFP Arcee in the first place even when the show used to be good. TFP Smokescreen is the best developed Autobot, which Shatterpoint might kill me for saying, and anyway, I don't get all this hulabaloo about Arcee.

I've been a huge fan of Greg's work since Gargoyles, so i'm definitely glad to see his name attached to TFs in any capacity. I hope it leads to something bigger in the next series.

Looking at his imdb page, besides Gargoyles he doesn't seem to have actual writing credits on many episodes that I would consider great, even for the other shows he produced. So, this is a very much wait and see.

Greg working on an episode doesn't mean it's going to magically make everybody happy by the way and is hardly worth of true hype. I've seen episodes of him in other shows that were horse shit. His Mr. Freeze episode in The Batman was nothing but corny snow puns that could make even Arnold Scharznegger's Freeze seem sober.

Never saw any future episode. It was the Freeze introduction episode. Freeze would even say "BABY IT'S COLD OUTSIDE" for no reason during a robbery and it was even stupider because Clancy Brown was his voice and you had all those corny "GET I'M IN FREEZING SHIT UP" lines.

It was really really weird. All I'm saying is that sometimes people you like do things you do not like so there is no reason to hype Greg's free-lancer writing for two TF series. That article proves nothing other than "Greg Weisman will be eating well tonight because he confirmed he still has a paying job."

Never saw that. I gave up on The Batman in early seasons because I didn't like it much. I liked their take on Penguin and Firefly but that was it. I THOUGHT I would like it since it was clearly by the Jackie Chan Adventures guys which I LOVED but I didn't.

I am not going to lie I am a man of very weak conviction and usually jump ship pretty early when I don't like things.
