Bulkhead being in the teams is great! Arcee in it is great to me too..as is Ratchet (I do hope he looks like his movie counterpart). Bumblebee AND Cliffjumper being in the core cast seems a bit like a waste to me, since they will probably look the same..but hey, I like Cliffjumper, so I can't really complain!

Movie Continuity?...Err How exactly? I mean I'll wait till I see it, but none of this seems like it's in the movie continuity.

The only thing that seems shady is that TF3 is coming out, and it's unlikely the TFP bodies will be used. In fact, if I had any money, I'd bet that TFP won't affect the movie at all... It's probably using the movies as a basis, but then goes off on a totally separate route. It's not like us TF fans aren't used to diverging material between cartoons and comics.

Just great movie continuity so that means I can look forward to episode after episode of the weakest Decepticons ever getting their butts kicked. I guess the difference this time is that the Autobots will be killing loads of Decepticons instead of the humans.

Hasn't the movie continuity had enough of the Transformers world already now even the cartoons are being infected with it's bad ideas.

Does Prime take any design cues from previous versions other than the movie franchise?

Okay, this is getting confusing.

- Hasbro tells us fans at Toy Fair 2010 that War For Cybertron is the prequel to TF Prime.

- High Moon Studio says in various video game website interviews War For Cybertron is a prequel to the G1 cartoon.

- Hasbro Studios says TF Prime is apparently in-continuity with the live-action movies.


Here is my theory about these contradictory statements: It's basically all marketing speak to whichever market segment they're talking to.

- Toy Fair 2010: Hasbro says that to us toy nerds because we are most interested in the next Transformers series.
- High Moon interviews: War For Cybertron's primary target market (as far as Activision is concerned) is the average gamer who, most likely only knows of Transformers through the G1 cartoon and the the Michael Bay movies (and most likely prefers the G1 cartoon). So telling them it's the prequel to the G1 cartoon sparks interest.
- Hasbro Studios: Part of the marketing for the show, whose target markets of audiences most likely recognize Transformers from the Michael Bay movies. It doesn't seem to fit and the third movie will probably contradict everything anyway, but nobody really cares.

For those who are confused over "no Ironhide"...remember Bulkhead is called "Ironhide" in Japan...just a thought

little annoyances...no obvious G1 connections, prime is a 'long nose" truck...but compared to how I felt when TF: Animated came out, I think Ill live seeing as how much I miss it

I wonder if it's actually the movie continuity, or if it's based on. Probably the latter.

Yay! Thanks for the updates, keep them coming. I am glad to hear that they are looking to animated for some guidance but I wonder how the simplicity of the character models will meld with the complex character models of the movieverse. I can't image toys like these.

Really glad to see bulkhead back, but I do think that the team is missing a more mature character like prowl. I would really like to see Jetfire updated for this series similar to WFC. (Just because he pulled out his spark core, doesn't mean he died, he just needs a new body)

I still don't understand what made a bunch of you think this show wouldn't be tied to the movies. It would have been highly illogical to create something away from that while a third one is being made.

Besides that, Bumblebee was obviously the movie version.

Cliffjumper? , hmm interesting choice.The guy kinda been in back burner since G1. Didn't really have a huge role in animated. Interesting that they went pass Jazz, Sidewipe and Streaker.

Wonder if Hasbro is trying to promote/capitalize on CJ , seeing as there is a red Ferrari in TF3? Coincidence?

This has a chance to be up there with Beast Wars and Animated as the best TF shows of all time.

Tantalising details! Just wish we could get a picture of Prime's new look.

It's cool that they're going with some lesser known characters in including Bulkhead and Cliffjumper. But I am a little surprised that they didn't use someone like Ironhide or Jazz instead.

I theorise that Cliffjumper will be the 'hothead' of the Autobots. Maybe kinda like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker's personalities. And Bumblebee will be quieter and more focused, tho' still 'likable', more in line with his movie characterisation.

So, is this continuation of Bayformers, or a totally new continuity?

They kept saying how they loved Animated, etc... so why cancel it? Surely they could have come to an agreement with CN.

And it appears they are repeating their mistake with Animated - show coming but no toys yet.

That was the production staff talking about it not Hasbro bigwig marketing team who ultimately make the call.

We'll get the toys right around the time the DVDs for the first season come out, so don't worry too much.

OH, I see. Coverage made it seem it was Hasbro, it's kinda misleading. (Though it's nothing compared to TFormers' coverage, that thing is a mess).

It also seems to be contradictory to what Micheal Bay was saying that any movies after the third one would have to be some sort of reboot. If a fourth film would have to be a reboot then how do you make a cartoon off of the era after the third film?

Wasn't there also something in the movie commentary about Arcee being dead or do I have her confused with another character?

TFW seems to be the only site claiming its in movie continuity...hmmmm

It's loosely based on the movies probably. A side universe that takes the most important plot points and hints from characters but that's probably it.

I don't think that's just a theory..seemed pretty obvious from the start. Marketing is just trying to tie it all together to let every incarnation that is coming out now ride on the succes of the other. WFC and TFPrime have nothing to do with each other.

To anyone who has seen the trailer: Would you say the CG is on par with Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
