Hub Network Rebranding Official Info And New Hasbro Program Times

Posted on 09-25-2014 at 10:38 AM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Prime
Hasbro-Discovery-Hub-TV-Network-Discovery-Family-Channel Hasbro has officially announced the rebranding of the Hasbro-Discovery Hub Network to the new Discovery Family.

We received a press release from Hasbro and they have announced several changes to the program lineup.

The Hub Network will become Discovery Family Channel effective October 13, 2014. The network will broaden its programming focus to serve families in primetime and continue to showcase Hasbro Studios award-winning children's content in daytime.

During the daytime, Discovery Family Channel will offer a robust line up of brand new Hasbro Studios' series as well as beloved library programming, including MY LITTLE PONY, LITTLEST PET SHOP and TRANSFORMERS RESCUE BOTS, while during primetime, the network will serve a growing family audience that began to develop under The Hub Network. Primetime programming will draw from Discovery's three decades of leadership in creating the highest-quality, real-world content that appeals to the entire family in the Natural History, Adventure, Animals and Science genres. Initial series will include SUPERHUMAN, TIME WARP, FLYING WILD ALASKA, AFRICA and EXTREME ENGINEERING: BIGGEST REVEALS.

Also, Hasbro’s ownership stake in the channel will drop from 50% to 40% as the programming focus shifts to Hasbro-produced children’s fare in the daytime hours and family-friendly fare in primetime.

Variety reports that Hasbro may turn towards Video-On-Demand or Digital Distribution of their shows in the future:
“Hasbro, meanwhile, gains more flexibility to sell new and existing shows to digital outlets such as Netflix and Amazon. Kidvid is a huge component of overall viewing for the SVOD heavyweights, even though it doesn’t get nearly as much attention in pop culture as original series aimed at adults.”

Hasbro also commented on their future activities for Movies and TV Shows:
“The toymaker is investing big in production through its Burbank-based Hasbro Studios arm. “We are continuing to develop partnerships with the big studios for some of our biggest brands,” [Hasbro CEO Brian] Goldner said. “And you’ll see us developing movies with smaller budgets and strong filmmakers.””

Streetsmart08 TFW2005 member Maz dropped us a line to let us know that he has some in-hand images of the Protectobots Emergency Response three-pack's Streetsmart on his blog. Streetsmart along with the rest of the Emergency Rescue pack are reuses of Transformers Prime toys, in this case the Beast Hunters Prowl tooling. At this moment in time it's not clear where this set is intended for a release, though the general thought is these could be Asian market releases or as-yet unannounced store exclusives.

In the meantime, check out these sharp in-hand images!

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2013

Posted on 05-07-2014 at 12:00 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Prime
2013 2013 brought a year of endings and beginnings to the Transformers brand – not only was it the year that Transformers Prime ended, but it was also the year that saw several key members of the Transformers brand team, many of whom had worked on the brand since Transformers Armada or earlier, part ways with Hasbro – but not before unleashing the single biggest Transformer toy ever built. On the front of new beginnings, buzz and hype began to build for Transformers 4, and the Transformers Generations line transitioned to a new “comic pack in” style, bundling IDW’s Transformers comics with the Deluxe class toys.

30 Years of Transformers in 30 Days - 2012

Posted on 05-06-2014 at 12:00 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Prime
2012 In 2012 the Transformers Prime toyline made its debut almost a year after the show first arrived on screens, with Japan also getting a toyline all of its own complete with several Japan-only releases. Transformers Prime entered its second season on the Hub, and a new Transformers show for younger audiences based on the Rescue Bots toys also launched. The Transformers returned to video game consoles with the Fall of Cybertron, with a line of Generations toys released to coincide with it. IDW relaunched its comics as well, with John Barber and James Roberts helming new ongoing series Robots in Disguise and More than Meets the Eye, while Simon Furman returned to the classic Generation 1 comics continuity that began with The Transformers #1 in 1984 in the form of the Regeneration 1 comic series.

The Windrazor purchased uses gray instead of yellow plastic for the torso and overall color pallet has more green and grey plastic for the body. TFW member Avaran has provided some in-hand pictures of the figure along with an image of the packaging that has been unchanged showing the originally released Windrazor.

Will you try tracking this variant down to finish off your Prime collection? Check out the images and sound off after the jump.

Gacha Tomy Transformers Battle Disk Shooters

Posted on 04-10-2014 at 06:37 AM by Sol Fury under Transformers Prime
Battle_Disk_Shooters2 An interesting discovery comes to us from Kaufland supermarkets in Germany, who do not usually stock Transformers product. They are carrying a series of "Battle Disk Shooters" from Tomy's subsidiary Gacha. The disk shooters seem like something you'd find on the cover of the UK Transformers comic by Titan Magazines, and each one comes with a target, a disk shooter and a pair of disks. They're available in eight different styles, and while their packaging is done in the new 2014 standard style, the artwork used is as far as we can see from the Transformers Prime series.
