Year of the Dragon Optimus Prime to be Released in US via Amazon

Amazon's really bangin' out the exclusives lately. Kudos to them and Hasbro for making these previous import only, high cost exclusives available. I'm betting on more info and more announcements at SDCC.

Well dang, that would've saved me about $75. Maybe I'll get a second one to take out of the box...it really is an awesome-looking toy.

This is the 3rd exclusive Amazon has put out in a week. Very nice.

It seems like Amazon and Hasbro are taking the same kind of approach as with TFCC and E-Hobby to get items, except cheaper, better customer service and no massive CC fraud

Do we know when this pre-order is for? I don't see it on the page or am blinded by the awesome paint job.

I was tempted to get this guy when he came out overseas, but the pricetag was just a little too much for a repaint of a now $22 toy. I'm tempted to get him now at $99. That's a pretty good looking paint job.

I was excited until I saw 99 dollars.

I just checked eBay: $169.99 - $219.99. Then here comes Amazon with $99/shipped. Fan'friggin'tastic. I'd love to see the looks on those sellers' faces.

Not really an "Amazon exclusive" is it, seeing it was released in Asia first, but whatever.

i love the dragon design and coloring. I'll look into this one once i get home( inprocess of moving.)

Whether the OP meant a previous exclusive or not, the Amazon page lists nothing about it being an exclusive. But if it did, it would be a Hasbro US release sold exclusively through Amazon.

I like this,(not the toy) but this could mean some more asia exclusives could be on our way to the states.

Don't really have any interest in anything movie-related, even if they are exclusives. The toys are meh and giving them funky gimmicks or paint schemes really don't do it for me.

G2 Bruticus however = Awesome.

I'd rather see the look on the faces of those who paid the $200 for these.

Further proof that I might as well cancel my pre-orders for MP Soundwave, Sideswipe and Red Alert. It seems that many Asian exclusives are making their way here, and with a bit of patience I think those will too. History is also on my side, considering recent releases Grimlock/Rodimus/Optimus have all made it here. I hope all of these occurrences are signs that the days of paying out the nose for Asia-only releases are coming to an end.

Why I believe these so-called Asia-only exclusives are not exclusive as we think. Take these new Universe Generations Legends/Deluxes/Voyagers... We have already seen the legends in these Walmart exclusive sets, so I imagine the rest of them will pop-up as store exclusives or in other forms.

There is no need to rush and drop $50+ on a Voyager Hot Spot or Deluxe Wheelie. Have patience folks, have patience.

I guess that might confirm they're getting Jetwing Prime as leftover stock from Asia then, and that the deco won't change?

This is cool. I hope that Striker Prime will get released over here now. I have a pre-order for Jetwing but Striker is the one I really want.

Cool, but I think I'll be passing. I just picked up the original for $22 at Kmart, and I don't find this quite awesome enough to pay $77 more.
Very excited to see all these exclusives start popping up on Amazon though!

Maybe we'll even end up with some FE Primes hitting Amazon for close to retail! ...well I can dream...

I was born in the year of the Dragon so I really wanted this but I had to pass for the original price. For $99 though I pulled the trigger!

Hey Amazon, if you really want to see TF collectors drool, ask Hasbro about selling Animated Voyager Thundercracker and see if they're game.

That's actually a pretty good idea especially if the Hub is going to be showing Animated again soon anything they didn't release as a Hasbro toy could make a nice late edition - either as original as some sort of warehouse find or in new "Generations style" packaging. There's even some possible ideas ready and waiting like Bumblebee repaints as other characters and a white Soundwave.

I'm sure if Hasbro developed a White Animated Soundwave with a cat-Guitar weapon then some people people would bite their arm off to get it.

If the idea is to bring over Asian exclusives then the Optimus and Hydro-Drive Bumblebee at least might be good ones to do.

There's even some possible cross branding to be achieved if Hasbro make a Prime Bulkhead in Workzone Bulkhead colours and Amazon release the original repaint then they would build on each other.

I can see plenty of potential repaints in Animated toys though such as a Powered Convoy Coloured Ultra Magnus or a SWAT Team blue police van for Leader Bulkhead.
I hope that someone at Hasbro is thinking that it's working doing something to merchandise Animated again if it's going to be On TV again.

While these are most likely overstock from Asia... they are a great deal for those that don't have them. Based on how quick RK sold out of the Generations Asia exclusives, I have a feeling they won't follow suit...

Color scheme is cool, not a fan of the robot mode. Also, the trailer is not in scale with the truck on this toy, it's too big.

Agreed...glad that Amazon.com is picking up some of the exclusives, saving shipping $$$$$.
