Dr. Prime of TFW2005 Boards is bringing us the Video Review of Movie Trilogy Optimus Prime with Trailer. Check out the video below.

Bio
Optimus Prime has traveled across the universe, and fought alongside many great and noble warriors. Throughout it all, he has relied on his own private arsenal. It is a collection of the most powerful weapons in the universe. Built up over centuries, it has seen him through some of the most dangerous and devastating battles in the history of the cosmos.

How well does this trailer fit on the Voyager RID Prime?
Dr. Prime
I don't know, but I will try later today when I get home and let you know.
TrueNomadSkies
Well, I'll probably wait for a sale if I do, but that trailer is shinier than I thought, and the way it opens could make for a nice backdrop when shown from the outside. Like, I still wish the deluxe prime was as nicely detailed as the single pack ones (especially in the wheels being painted because the alt mode is basically the selling point here), but its definitely not as bad as I thought initially, and it might be worth getting on sale like you said. If nothing else, it might be a nice trailer to use on the RID Voyager Prime, especially since I think that one looks really great in alt mode, and maybe even on the RTS deluxe.

... copypasta ftw!
Rogzilla
I double the sentiments of everyone else. I think the trailer looks good and, if it fits on the PRID Prime, then I'm definitely getting him. I want to take all the weapons that don't have a hidden place in vehicle mode and drop them in the trailer when I put the figures in vehicle mode.
TrueNomadSkies
Well honestly, even if the pegs don't match up, you can always fix that yourself. I guess I could've mentioned the FE voyager too, but I like that one better in robot mode while I like the RID in alt mode, so yeah.

Thanks for the review! Although I prefer the paint on the walmart version of the Optimus, I do like the darker grey plastic on this one. I hope my TRU gets this soon.

A couple comments though: The trailer is not really out of proportion. If you've ever seen the real thing (or just seen screenshots from the movie) you will notice that the trailer is actually quite long. If anything, the trailer could even be a tiny bit longer and still be OK (and it wouldn't hurt if it could transform into the base they showed us in the movie )

Also, movie Optimus' trailer does NOT have the blue stripe down the side, so that is also accurate on this toy. What he SHOULD have is painted rims, but I plan to use my walmart deluxe version with the trailer anyway

Is he part of the DOTM line?

Wasn't aware that this edition didn't come with a weapon. Seems like we're paying more like $20 for the trailer considering the deluxe doesn't have an included Mech Tech weapon.

Packing is really awesome, but then this edition seems more like a collectors piece to stay in the box as play features seem really limited.

Honestly, the best route seems to be grab a Walmart edition at discount if you can and then try to get this on sale for a best of both worlds.

Actually, it fits and looks ok. Only problem is that the voyager is taller, so the trailer is angled and the not all the wheels in the back touch the ground

Thanks for the comments Yeah, I've had someone else say that too and I do realize that it is actually proportionate to the one in the movie. That said, the cab still looks too small to me. In my mind I am comparing them to real life 18 wheelers and I think the cab could at least be a bit taller, but thats just me

As far as the stripe, that is also personal preference. I have the SDCC Ultimate OP with the blue decal and I think it looks awesome

Sort of. Technically its the "Movie Trilogy Series", which will be a series of one figure in the US

Looks like it will at least be a nice display in the box piece.

As always, nice look at this Doc. Solid review. I think I wants this thing now!

What an un-impressive trailer

Do you have the deluxe TF: Prime Optimus? I bet the trailer looks okay with him...
GIGANTUS
Cool figure but i expected more for the trailer.
NEST SOLDIER
I actually like this figure, and compared to the Takara Voyager Optimus with trailer, it's pretty decent. The Takara version that I have is more to scale with the deluxe toys, but this is really nice for a Hasbro item.

IMO it's worth thirty dollars.

Well which one LOOKS better is personal preference, but as to which one is more accurate to the movie... well that's not just based on preference. I happen to prefer it without the stripe, but then again I've only seen pics of the SDCC one so I'm sure it looks cool in person too

Thanks again for the review!

Does anyone know if this is a Target/ TRU exclusive, or is Wal Mart going to carry this as well? We don't have a Traget or TRU nearby.
JR3X
Not bad at all!!

Thanks for the review Doc, not sure if I'll pull the trigger but very informative.
[Wing_Saber-X]
bought! nice packaging.

I've already got the Walmart exclusive deluxe prime, it'll be nice if they sold the trailer separately! On top of that, for $30, they couldn't paint his rims silver? I'm going to wait until it goes on clearance for like $20 or so
shockwave2005
I was excited about this.

Before the post movie-meh set in.

It looks good...but seriously, this - along with Leadfoot, Que and Soundwave - should have been released back in Oct/Nov of 2011, especially with the $30 pricetag.
TheDemonDzko
I don't get it... why is this important?
nemesisconvoy
$30 for this?!?! LOL OHHH, hell no!!!!
VE Telus
One can always repurpose this trailer for G1 Prime. That was its original function as well in the Chronicle release.
webz
funny how the trailer COULD have been the ultimate mechtech gimmick (since it was the ONLY thing in the movie that resembled "mechtech" with the springloaded weapons depot) but instead we get a plastic cube. How cool would it have been if it opened like the classic G1 trailer and instead of the repair dock robot there was a spring-loaded weapon rack? That would have jumped this figure from "meh" to "OMG here's my wallet!" for many people. Oh well. It's little temptations like these that are making me sell off my Transformers collection. Just when I think I'm done, Hasbro waves something like this under my nose... Well, Hasbro, I say "Nay, tempt me not with your wares!"
herugrim
Wow, worst trailer ever! Maybe if I bought all the voyager figures for proper mechtech weapons but not worth anything on his own.

Was considering him because he would look great next to G1 prime and maybe even classics prime with G3 trailer, but it really doesn't look worth it. Thanks for the review, man. Dodged a bullet there.

I totally understand the "post-movie meh" idea. I've been feeling that a lot lately. I'll still get this set and probably keep it misb cause the packaging is really nice.

I saw them at a Wal Mart in my area. I was not impressed, but after seeing the review I am planning to give them another look the next time I see them.
Max-prime
It's a decent toy but I'm glad I found it on sale for $20 cause it definatly not worth $30/$35 (reg price/TRU price)
Zigholtul
I'm actually painting him up and making him my movieverse Nemesis Prime. Wish me the best of luck.
World Prime
I got one. It looks really nice and functions well as a mechtech storage unit (I have four resting comfortably inside). I'm glad I have the walmart version of deluxe Prime though. He looks so much better with the trailer than the one that comes with this set. I had to cut a small part of his feet though so that the trailer could plug in properly, but it wasn't a big deal. I also painted the rims on the trailer (needs an extra coat of paint tomorrow), which makes a big difference.

There's an overwhelming sense that they really should have tried to fit in a couple extra features to make up for the fact that we STILL don't have a trailer that even slightly resembles the weapons platform we saw in the movie. It even looks like they may have had a couple extra sliding panels or something at some point, but they abandoned them.

For an alt-mode display piece though, this works very well and looks great. If you're looking for a display piece, it looks tons better than ultimate prime, and the cab section looks tons better than the takara voyager that also had a trailer, plus it's way cheaper than either of those options!

Also, it looks AWESOME with voyager dotm Megatron. I think they might be perfectly in scale with each other! I'm gonna see what he looks like with deluxe Ironhide and Ratchet tomorrow.
J2DK
I got it just for the trailer. The deluxe Optimus is very lackluster in my opinion.

I really love the truck mode, and if it weren't for the backpack, I think the bot mode would be really great for a deluxe. Even as is I still like it a lot.
Alpha Omega Trion Supreme
I saw this by chance at Target today, but couldn't commit to buying it at that time. After I arrived home, I found this thread and watched the review. I still can't decide, and I know it most likely won't be on the shelf if I wait too long to go back.

The lack of silver on the hubs bothers me the most although I do like the darker gray used for the robot mode. I'm also leaning towards liking the translucent blue windows on this over the clear ones on the Walmart version. But losing those other little details that the Walmart has bothers me. I guess the trailer is cooler if you consider that you can load up the inside of it with weapons because there are weapon ports on the floor of it that you could spin 90 degrees after the trailer side lifts to open fire on anything. And then there's the price. $30 is a bit much for a weaponless Prime and a rather plain trailer. The set really needs some accessories. And finally, Walmart Prime on my shelf is wondering why I'm even considering buying something which I already half-have.

I still can't decide. :/
