Transformers Trading Cards from Enterplay - Update

A while back we posted about Enterplay releasing high end trading cards based on the Transformers properties. Recently, Breygent Marketing has teamed up with Enterplay and is working on a Fall release for the cards, featuring more than just the movie properties. The cards will now also feature Transformers Prime characters.

Being a fan of cardgames in general makes me kinda care about these, but chances are that accessibility will be an issue, so hopefully we're wrong about that.
Blitz.
Cant say I get it "high end trading card" is not really something I knew was a thing (I guess their will be a few shiny cards?)

Also if those are a sample I cant say the idea of buying screen caps thrills me.

Each pack comes with a stick of Micheal Bay gum.
An explosion of flavor in every bite.

Well, "high end" probably means expensive. I think it'd be cool if they came with exclusive figures or something, but when it comes to spending money on toys or cards, this fandom probably isn't gonna pick cards over toys unless they become hella trendy like Botshots or whatever, and even then there'd need to be something associated with the cards themselves since they don't look to be part of a game.

they did try with those folding cards but yeah... didnt see them lasting long and I thought that was an ok idea

"High End" is a bit of a vague term these days. It could mean anything from glossy stock and foil stamping at $3 a pack all the way to guaranteed autographs and/or movie memorabilia cards in every $50 or higher pack (a Game of Thrones set recently released is an example of this latter variety).
Really, I think it's a bit late in the game for movie cards to come out, unless they delay them until just before the fourth movie releases.

Hopefully I'll be able to pick a few of these up, but only if I see them. I won't go hunting for these.

Hahahah, you sir win this thread.

... but yeah, I'm gonna mark out pretty hard if these become a regular thing, especially if they're affordable & represent a crapload of characters.
Cyberwolf1980
No Beast Wars, no interest. Well, maybe if animated were included I might give it a gander.

I will be working as an incentive artist on the set. Sketch cards are a pretty high end market for some. There are some artists who fetch 4 figure numbers for a single card.

As for the subject matter. Movieverse, Prime and...wait for it...G1!

I'll only be doing 25 cards and possibly all G1. 5 will be available as artist proofs for 30 all together.

Uhmmm...some TFPrime cards too??? Would like to see those, although they may be stock pics like the movie ones..but I'll give'em a look see.
Bumblebee765
I'm more interested in the Movieverse characters, especially Shockwave, my favorite Decepticon, but Prime characters could be interesting too... I'll definitely track some of these down!

Samples that have been released by Breygent:

Starscream Gaga
What is with that one with Arcee on the thing with her butt in the air. Anyone turned on by that is sad.

EDIT: Wait, no. Its a parody of that absolutely craptastic scene from ROTF where Megan Fox was working on the motorcycle in the stupidest way possible. That's actually hilarious!

Little preview sampler from me. These things were a work of love so I'm not here to run and gun. All original one of a kind drawn on card and not traced or transferred. The set is delayed due to the usual approval by various levels for a nice size amount of artwork but I hope soon to hear news.

Omega Charge
I hope these eventually see release too... I would definitely look into collecting a continuity-spanning Transformers trading card set. Wouldn't have to be a game or anything, just trading cards with nice artwork.

The actual cards might be stock pics but these are the actual artwork. Incentives. So if you pull my Devy, for example, no one else will have it unless you sell it.
Tonyrumble
cool stuff

The cards have been released into the wild!

Here are some of my cards done for the set:

Original art chase cards done at the size of a baseball card. I was really happy to do this set as a fan of G1.

But it bounces around your mouth so much you'll never taste it.

Haha. There actually is a fair amount of g1 and other tf versions as base sets. If it were just movie I think I would have avoided (just g1 fan here). As of now, though, I want a few packs after seeing the g1 based cards.

really wish we got comp boxes on this set.

I know nothing about these cards. How do I get them?

Local comic shops I would think. With Enterplay involved possibly a department store like Target or Wal Mart eventually (though I think those will not be hobby versions...no sketches). Otherwise blowoutcards.com is where I used to buy Marvel sets because they have good prices.

I live in Sweden now so it'll be even harder for me to find them. I'm going to be hunting for the g1 base cards only. At least year one characters.

Theres only 18 g1 cards and its only characters who share names with bots that appeared in the bay movies. You could probably score just a set of those on ebay.

I'd still like the excitement of opening packs. If all else fails then I'll get the set separate if anyone sells it. There's also the comic panel cards as well I'm curious about as well as the puzzle foil cards (which could be a mix of generations). I'll have to keep track of what people pull to see what's what.

Thanks!

I tried eBay but it looks like there are only a couple promo cards there so far. Maybe I'll wait a bit and try to score a complete set of just the G1s. No interest in the rest of them.

The foil puzzle are all movie bots. There are some g1 comic panel cards but theyre 1 in 70 packs or some ridiculous odds. The g1 cards are chases too but much better odds
