Yep, even I was surprised to see "Side Swipe" instead of "Sideswipe". I myself don't see much of a connection to all 4 names, except RID.

I wonder if Side Swipe is for MP Side Swipe.

I doubt Sideswipe has been lost. There were at least six Sideswipe toys released just last year. Trademarks can't expire that fast.

Seeing Side Swipe with a space gives me Armada flashbacks... not good ones, either. Aside from that oddity it seems like pretty standard renewals though, they love Armorhide and Rollbar as generic names for anything they need.

Maybe Side Swipe will be a Decepticon? Am I wrong or was there a Decepticon Side Swipe during the Armada verse days?

Ah, Tow-line, that's a name I haven't heard of in a while. Sweet name, so I'm all for it.

But yeah, the Side Swipe vs. Sideswipe one confuses me. Did Hasbro lose "Sideswipe"?

While I'm all for this, the Wreckers already sport the RID colors (except for Impactor). So it's probably not for that, as much as I'd love it.

And Side Swipe...Maybe they claimed that in case they lose the rights to Sideswipe, so they at least have something to fall back on?

The Wreckers have SOME RID colors, but I can totally see weapons and heads changed to make a Botcon boxed set.

Why not? SDCC and Amazon/BBTS are getting their decos already...

I really don't think Hasbro has lost Sideswipe, I think it is just a "snag it so someone else doesn't" move, like how they snagged Machine Robot Rescue and slapped it on a couple repaints to prevent Bandai from releasing their transforming robot line in the US.

Calling it now, these are Prime Cyberverse repaints. Hasbro has been pretty good with the homages lately so I could easily see something like:
Tow-Line - Ultra Magnus in RID Tow-Line Colors
Armorhide - Prime in Cyb. Armorhide Colors
Rollbar - Ironhide in G1 Rollbar Colors
Side Swipe - Knockout in Armada Side Swipe Colors

My initial thought at this is excitement to see some RID names popping up again, but then realization settles in. Hasbro seems like they really couldn't care less about RID, so while these are RID names, I'll be rather surprised if they're used for anything remotely RID related...

Aside from Sideswipe being renamed Side Swipe (Which could be a clerical error rather than a necessary rename) why is everyone acting like the other three names are interesting? We've seen those before? They probably needed to reapply for the trademarks.

Well, there are those "urban-" and "desert-camo" decoes of the RID Commandos.


I'm thinking these'll just be off-screen character repaints of Prime figures, though.

Actually, after a nice little mockup digibash, I can see Knockout working VERY nicely in Armada Side Swipe colors. Not posting the pic cause I'm a terrible digibasher and don't have the patience, but anyone who is interested should check it out and try their hand at it; I'd love to see it done right. Any takers?

Armorhide and Rollbar? If they make a R.i.D. repaint of Bruticus, I'm afraid that I'll have to purchase it. I know that they're just clones of the G1 Combaticons, but I grew rather fond of them when I was a kid. That being said, the names probably have nothing to do with aforementioned characters.

Probably, considering a Prime Sideswipe would be redundant thanks to Wheeljack being shoehorned into thge role of "badass aloof swordsbot."

Did anyone notice the Shockwave name not there, did they loose the trademark?

Interesting stuff, and I'm not sure what to make of the space in 'Side Swipe', unless it's some sort of wide-swath Trademarking, kind of like how some register multiple variations of a given domain name to keep others out.

The other names I can't say much about, as they are all Hasbro 'whatever' names, with no strong connection to any particular character, toy, or form.

Methinks that list is terribly outdated. Dark of the Moon, Prime, and Rescue Bots are "pending."

It could be for the MP. But there is also a deluxe Generations sideswipe for 2013.



Rollbar and Armorhide are names they had for some of the more average off screen autobots in the revenge of the fallen line.

Really they could use those names for a variety of armored and all terrain vehicles.

Though I would'nt mind getting the orange truck like with alternators rollbar.

Also the old cybertron unicron trilogy line had a armorhide scout. The little blue semi truck. That later got redecoed into a black armorhide for the target exclusive movie scout line in 2007.

towline is more interesting. There is the RID basic tow truck, the 07' movie tow truck deluxe, and the Energon deluxe van with the battle platform.
But I'd say if their useing the name towline these days. Its probably a tow truck.
