Dark of the Moon Wrecker Autobot Top Spin Pictures and Review

2005 Boards member and expert customiser frenzy_rumble has shared with us some excellent new images of the Dark of the Moon Wrecker, Autobot Top Spin. Top Spin is the blue Lowes Nascar who spots a mullet in robot mode, and a virtual arsenal of weaponry in his vehicle mode. He tops all this off with a simple and intuitive looking transformation that none the less gives him a very dynamic look in both modes. You can see step by step images of this transformation - and both robot and vehicle mode pictures - by reading on!

Spartan Prime
Dayumn. That's pretty wicked looking... I was hoping I could save some money by skipping the DotM figures, but I may have to cave...
Matty
Looks amazing.
CyrDraconis
Sweet. I've been very underwhelmed with the majority of the DOTM line so far, but the Wreckers are floating my boat big time.
mechunter
I know that head reminds me of something, but I can't place it (can't we just give the robots more generic heads instead of stereotypes?)
Rogzilla
I've been really impressed by the overall small backpacks (Crankcase and Roadbuster being exceptions) and increase in articulation in this line. I can't wait for the figures!
Brave Magnus
There are 2 things i can say after seeing these pictures:

1-He is smiling.
2-He has a Bumblebee face as torso.

REally nice mold and for what you are telling us its VERY articulated. I like that a lot. Thanks for the gallery, its awesome.
Gilgamesh
Judging by his transformation, I'm guessing it's a pretty tall deluxe?
Quixote_Prime
Brilliant photos and an informative review!

Helped me decide to pass on this one. So far the only Wrecker of interest to me is Roadbuster.
siksky1
looks like he will be a fun custom!....but I dont really like his head
Andrew28b
Reminds me of one of the twins from the matrix
Red Goblin
Paint him!
Cax6ton
A mullet?! Seriously? Call me when the inevitable redeco comes around and I'll take a second look

I think I'll see DOTM in the theaters just out of gratitude for the toyline saving my wallet.

It's NOT a mullet. It's a daedalic hairstyle, associated with ancient Greece. It's very much like dreadlocks, actually.
unlikelyhero
Badass, I don't know why there is so much hate for movie toys, take them for what they are. Though, the headsculp on this one is plain fugly? somebody has to come up with an ideal headswap on this one, I do hope the other wreckers have badass headsculp suitable for such characters
Patto Prime
Yeah it's a mullet. Think about Michael Bays previous efforts at humour. Why wouldn't he make robot that turns into NASCAR covered in guns a redneck character. It's just too easy in his scheme of things to go for the lowest common denominator, hence stereotypes. Ughh!
RedHeadKevin
Although I hope he never opens his mouth in the movie, please God, I don't really mind the "Iacon Waterfall" on a NASCAR Transformer. The blue spiked hair bugs me more.
tamaboy311
I think it looks awesome!!!! And thats no mullet does are dreadlots!!
AndreyOfDoom
Great review. DOTM looks to have the best robot designs of all 3 movies. They are no longer shredded scrap metal looking bots but actually more boxy like Transformers usually are.
wylungz
oh god, are those braided hairs/ chains on his head... another hiphop.. down to earth modern transformer on its way..
nemesisred
Im Rick James B##ch!!
DecepticonsRule
Beautiful, beautiful figure. The head is... interesting, but the body and alternate mode are both great.

What this could really do with is some more decals, and painted in lights. But other than that, Topspin is definitely a pick-up.
Solrac333
Hasbro, fire your photographer. THIS is how the toys should look.
Barricade24
Looks alot better than previous pics but there is alot of detail missing.
I think I will wait and see what Takara does.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw a bunny. His "mullet" even kinda looks like floppy ears in a odd way.

Looks like a cool figure. But I'm going to wait and see if people are overly offended by the onscreen characters. If they are, then there's no reaosn to waste money here like I did on the Twin figures.
SPLIT LIP
Since when is having a certain hairstyle a stereotype? Classic example of people just throwing words around.

The only thing I don't like about the head is I can't figure out wher ethe mouth is. That'll change once I se eteh movie, but it bugs me now.

Personally it looks more like a powdered wig than a mullet, to me. Maybe he's a judge.
Wheeljack_Prime
The only thing I don't like about his head is that only the very top is painted blue, so it kinda looks like a flattop, instead of the mullet/dreadlocks/powdered wig he has.
Axel990
Despite the fact that his alternate mode isn't very inconspicuous, I think I will still have fun with this guy. The pincers on the hands remind me of Animated Ratchet. I wonder if those will be serious weapons within the movie, or if they will just be plain old claws.

Either way, I'm definately getting this guy.
Railguard
Well this is a def maybe for my pick up list, oh who am I kidding I'll get him if I can find him.
caecae22
i like this but its nearly solid blue so i think i might have to detail it with some lights, grills and such
LUGNUT1995
Love the stereotypical Nascar fan heads they've given these, this looks pretty snappy.
heirofthedog
That head looks like a lop eared rabbit, buck teeth an all. Still nice looking overall in both modes, and a decent head swap will be in the works if I pick this up.
Rumble02
Definately looks like the Trix Rabbit
Thenames9
Keeping him in vehicle mode, probably do this with the whole team. Dreadlocks FTW!!
mx-01 archon
I'm a little more than tempted to kitbash this guy into a Classics-verse Chromedome.
Necro Prime
Sweet posability! He looks awesome! Definitely looking forward to him. And I don't mind the head personally.
Necro Prime
Primus!!! I just realized he has a fragging mullet!
hotshot5851
OK topspin is my new favorite autobot for tf3!
Jlogano20
why did hasbro do so epic on topspin but kinda failed at roadbuster
xanthax
I really like this guy. A little more paint on the chest and such and he'd be amazing.
dragon
likes wants to know roadbuster dont look like this in car mode?
movei accuate thats buy for me ill probably keep these guys in card modes i like how they look except for roadbuster
Autobot Burnout
Totally badass, I must say. I like the head style, it's quite refreshing to see heads that don't look painfully generic but actually give a sense of character without being totally out there. At least it's nowhere NEAR as bad as the twins.

The claw hands do surprise me, though, but again it's sort of in a good way. Again a case of originality that really sets this figure apart for me.

I will certainly have to get this figure, and then the Reprolabels set for the missing details (or paint them in myself if that does not come to pass).
Astrotrain85
Awesome.
Spoiler
Definately full of win. I wonder what the third is gonna look like...

Jeff Bridges with a judge wig!?

I like it and unlike many other figures I don't feel the indispensable need of more paint apps here...
Predaking
Unlike Roadbuster I actually like the design and engineering that go into this figure. Don't like #48 but may still pick up this toy. Damn and I thought I can skip the movie toys this year.
AutobotMechanic
Definitly the one I'll be hunting for right away!!! As for the head design, looks more Egyptian Pharaoh to me. But MUST BUY!!!!!

Isn't that kind of pointless?

Might as well just wait and get the RPM/Stelth Force version.
