TFW's Age of Extinction Optimus Prime Rusty Version (Toys R Us Japan Exclusive) Gallery

Posted on 08-27-2014 at 04:51 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie Toys & Products (All Transformers Movie News)
RustyOptimusPrime32_3 We've got another great Transformers toy gallery to share with you tonight. Courtesy of TFW2005 photo staff member SydneyY, we have a look at the Takara-Tomy Toys R Us exclusive Age of Extinction "Rusty Version" Optimus Prime!

Based on Optimus Prime's evasion mode, used to hide from those hunting him in the new movie, this Toys R Us Japan exclusive release recolors Optimus into a cream deco with plentiful "rust" paint applications. The truck mode is extremely effective in this deco! In robot mode, Optimus features a whole lot of white and looks a bit less "grimey" than his normal truck might. There's a new headsculpt used for this version of the toy too - a full on faceplate version of the movie Optimus head is featured here, rather than the "mouth" head of the mass retail releases.

All in all, this release features an excellent take on the truck mode, but we feel the robot mode might be a bit divisive come the finish. Check out the awesome photos that SydneyY has done for us and judge for yourself!

Age of Extinction Platinum Silver Knight Optimus Prime Released in the US

Posted on 08-27-2014 at 02:46 PM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie Toys & Products (All Transformers Movie News)
27463527d1409119838-minnesota-transformers-sightings-image We've got a new Transformers toy sighting for you today folks. TFW2005 member Jertallica reports finding the Platinum Edition Silver Knight Optimus Prime at the Plymouth Target in Minnesota.

This Silver Knight Optimus Prime is a redeco of the huge First Edition Age of Extinction Optimus Prime. As you can see from Jertallica's pic, this figure has a striking mix of silver plastic and silver chrome. While it's not for everyone, this figure seems to be very much the definitive version of the Silver Knight Optimus Prime concept that Target has been running for their exclusives this movie.

If you thought the original First Edition Optimus Prime figure had a lot of chrome, think again, because this version has even more of it, along with an alternate faceplated head sculpt. Also coming in the set is a recolor of the trailer from MP-10, as well as a Sideswipe who is quite similar to the ROTF Swerve figure.

Oreo Transformers Giveaway - Scorn and High Octane Bumblebee

Posted on 08-17-2014 at 07:17 AM by Sol Fury under Transformers Movie Toys & Products (All Transformers Movie News)
10557229_10202232054554957_1810861608106561803_n Via the Transformers Colombia Facebook group and Transformers Peru, we can share some additional news on the Oreo Transformers giveaway currently taking place in South America. TFW2005 and Transformers Peru member Neo-Bombshell has shared with us some additional information on the promotion - when you purchase three specially marked six-packs you got a poster from participating supermarkets. Each Oreo comes with a sticker for the album which also featured a code to input on the to the Ganaoreo site in order to win various prizes.

By accounts it seems that all four of the Deluxes in the first assortment are up for grabs - that's Scorn, High Octane Bumblebee, Crosshairs and Slug - but none of them come with their weapons other than Bumblebee's missile. They instead come with some Oreos! Other prizes included three First Edition Optimus Primes from Age of Extinction, Age of Extinction Optimus Prime and Bumblebee masks, and tickets to see AoE in theaters.

With thanks to Neo Bombshell, we can share with you some pictures of the various promotional materials that came with this campaign, including an Optimus Prime standee, an OreTruck complete with Decepticon symbol, the poster with all the stickers and a special promotional box containing three six packs of Oreos with pre-cut silhouettes of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. We're told that last one was a bit less popular due to the fact it was more expensive than buying the six-packs individually.

Hasbro And Shapeways To Sell 3D Printed Transformers Artwork

Posted on 08-15-2014 at 01:55 PM by SilverOptimus under Transformers Movie Toys & Products (All Transformers Movie News)
my-little-pony-superfanart-by-hasbro-and-shapeways You may remember that back in last July, we reported a new venture by Hasbro; where Shapeways (a company working with 3D printed material) would 3D print Fan Art based on Hasbro properties. Though it was initiated with My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, our members speculated that in the future we will see Transformers as well.

Sure enough, thanks to an Email received by 2005 Boards Member chroma23, Hasbro confirms that the new project will expand into Transformers.

Future projects include:
  • Dragonvale
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Monopoly
  • My Little Pony [already implemented]
  • Scrabble (to be sold in US and Canada only)
  • Transformers

You can read the entire letter, after the jump.
