Dr. Prime of TFW2005 Boards is bringing us the Video Review of Movie Trilogy Optimus Prime with Trailer. Check out the video below.
BioOptimus Prime has traveled across the universe, and fought alongside many great and noble warriors. Throughout it all, he has relied on his own private arsenal. It is a collection of the most powerful weapons in the universe. Built up over centuries, it has seen him through some of the most dangerous and devastating battles in the history of the cosmos.
Alpha Omega Trion Supreme
I saw this by chance at Target today, but couldn't commit to buying it at that time. After I arrived home, I found this thread and watched the review. I still can't decide, and I know it most likely won't be on the shelf if I wait too long to go back.
The lack of silver on the hubs bothers me the most although I do like the darker gray used for the robot mode. I'm also leaning towards liking the translucent blue windows on this over the clear ones on the Walmart version. But losing those other little details that the Walmart has bothers me. I guess the trailer is cooler if you consider that you can load up the inside of it with weapons because there are weapon ports on the floor of it that you could spin 90 degrees after the trailer side lifts to open fire on anything. And then there's the price. $30 is a bit much for a weaponless Prime and a rather plain trailer. The set really needs some accessories. And finally, Walmart Prime on my shelf is wondering why I'm even considering buying something which I already half-have.
I still can't decide. :/
Shmoptimus Prime
I really love the truck mode, and if it weren't for the backpack, I think the bot mode would be really great for a deluxe. Even as is I still like it a lot.
J2DK
I got it just for the trailer. The deluxe Optimus is very lackluster in my opinion.
Shmoptimus Prime
I got one. It looks really nice and functions well as a mechtech storage unit (I have four resting comfortably inside). I'm glad I have the walmart version of deluxe Prime though. He looks so much better with the trailer than the one that comes with this set. I had to cut a small part of his feet though so that the trailer could plug in properly, but it wasn't a big deal. I also painted the rims on the trailer (needs an extra coat of paint tomorrow), which makes a big difference.
There's an overwhelming sense that they really should have tried to fit in a couple extra features to make up for the fact that we STILL don't have a trailer that even slightly resembles the weapons platform we saw in the movie. It even looks like they may have had a couple extra sliding panels or something at some point, but they abandoned them.
For an alt-mode display piece though, this works very well and looks great. If you're looking for a display piece, it looks tons better than ultimate prime, and the cab section looks tons better than the takara voyager that also had a trailer, plus it's way cheaper than either of those options!
Also, it looks AWESOME with voyager dotm Megatron. I think they might be perfectly in scale with each other! I'm gonna see what he looks like with deluxe Ironhide and Ratchet tomorrow.

I'm actually painting him up and making him my movieverse Nemesis Prime. Wish me the best of luck.
Max-prime
It's a decent toy but I'm glad I found it on sale for $20 cause it definatly not worth $30/$35 (reg price/TRU price)
Cogar
I saw them at a Wal Mart in my area. I was not impressed, but after seeing the review I am planning to give them another look the next time I see them.
Shmoptimus Prime
I totally understand the "post-movie meh" idea. I've been feeling that a lot lately. I'll still get this set and probably keep it misb cause the packaging is really nice.
herugrim
Wow, worst trailer ever! Maybe if I bought all the voyager figures for proper mechtech weapons but not worth anything on his own.
Was considering him because he would look great next to G1 prime and maybe even classics prime with G3 trailer, but it really doesn't look worth it. Thanks for the review, man. Dodged a bullet there.

funny how the trailer COULD have been the ultimate mechtech gimmick (since it was the ONLY thing in the movie that resembled "mechtech" with the springloaded weapons depot) but instead we get a plastic cube. How cool would it have been if it opened like the classic G1 trailer and instead of the repair dock robot there was a spring-loaded weapon rack? That would have jumped this figure from "meh" to "OMG here's my wallet!" for many people. Oh well. It's little temptations like these that are making me sell off my Transformers collection. Just when I think I'm done, Hasbro waves something like this under my nose… Well, Hasbro, I say "Nay, tempt me not with your wares!"
VE Telus
One can always repurpose this trailer for G1 Prime. That was its original function as well in the Chronicle release.

$30 for this?!?! LOL OHHH, hell no!!!!
TheDemonDzko
I don't get it… why is this important?
shockwave2005
I was excited about this.
Before the post movie-meh set in.
It looks good…but seriously, this – along with Leadfoot, Que and Soundwave – should have been released back in Oct/Nov of 2011, especially with the $30 pricetag.

I've already got the Walmart exclusive deluxe prime, it'll be nice if they sold the trailer separately! On top of that, for $30, they couldn't paint his rims silver? I'm going to wait until it goes on clearance for like $20 or so
[Wing_Saber-X]
bought! nice packaging.
NICKBOT
Thanks for the review Doc, not sure if I'll pull the trigger but very informative.
JR3X
Not bad at all!!
NEST SOLDIER
Does anyone know if this is a Target/ TRU exclusive, or is Wal Mart going to carry this as well? We don't have a Traget or TRU nearby.
