That's awesome!

But if you ask Michael Bay, it was twelve billion sales in the first ten seconds. ThundeR-CrackeR:
So I quess the movie aint that bad after all if so many have brought it?
*Yes, that was for all the haters *

Cant wait for european release! ...

Awesome news!

Wonder if these figures can continue on to Black Friday and well into the Christmas season. Is Hasbro planning to package the movie with an upcoming toy any time soon?
jgoss:
how cool is this 7.5 in one week the hell with the critics!! bring on TF3!!

Cant wait for european release! ... | I bought and it's even worse than I when I watched in the theaters.
Worst movie i've seen in a while, it will only be used as my home theater demo disc.
Dark_Convoy:
Now the question is, will it still be the #1 DVD after Star Trek comes out on Nov 17th...
MegatronSupporter:
I don't think it'll be #1 for that long. The Stark Trek movie wasn't even that good imo.
Rookbartley:
It will sell well until the new Twlight movie and the Michael Jackson movie come out on DVD. You know how I know this??? Perez Hilton says the new Twilight is the most anticipated movie of the year and the folks on the Morning Mash Up on XM/Sirius Satellite Radio say the MJ movie is the "movie of the year" Of course when all is said and done, a quick check of the box office and dvd sales of Transformers v the aforementioned pieces of trash will prove otherwise.

I can see Bay, sitting on top a mount of money and laughing at the critics !!
-Bay-
"THIS IS FOR YOU, BITCHES!!!" (and he raise the middle finger at them)
I wouldn't be surprised !! FanimusMaximus: Quote:

LOL @ Screaming fuck, cuz I still love Transformers, I still bought it didn't I? I just don't play to sit through the whole thing again. Just skip to the action scenes to demy my home theater.
The Blu Ray DTS track on my mixed to 7.1 on my home theater system is pretty damn impressive and I can't knock the picture quality either.
But that's about it Dankir:
Sorry for the double post!

As a Tf fan this is most brilliant news. Makes me believe we still have a few strong years left in our franchise.
As a film maker this is horrible news. The film was junk from beginning to end. The problem is that Bay will get credit for making a great film when that is not the case.
The movie made money because of it simply being about Transformers. Like BATMAN if the film was treated with respect it would have made 1billion dollars (theatrical release) easy. All it made was the minimum any TF movie with any crap director would had made.
So YAY to TFs Boo to Bay.
Thanx

It deeply saddens me that so many people have such horrible taste...
Sure, there were a few good bits, but that's like putting sprinkles on a big pile of sh**.
And you know what the big problem is?
Because the film is doing so well, the people behind the film will think that that is what the people like. So they'll make MORE OF IT.
Example:
TF1: Optimus says "My bad", Bumblebee "pees" on someone
TF2: Wheelie humps Megan Fox's leg, Jetfire "farts" out a parachute, Skids & Mudflap = Heckle & Jeckle, Devastator has "balls"
TF3: What's next? Arcee complaining about her "time of the cycle"? Optimus Prime scratching his groin area and complaining of scraplets?
Sso02V:
You say that like Transformers has never been stupid in the past.
For crap's sake, Optimus Prime killed himself over a videogame!
The Predacons were defeated by an atomic fart!

TF3: What's next? Arcee complaining about her "time of the cycle"? Optimus Prime scratching his groin area and complaining of scraplets? | But the targeted audience loved those bits! The movie's gotta sell toys, you know. I thought I read here that Hasbro can't make something just for the fans because the fans to buy enough of anything to support it all on their own, so they have to make things that are more general or more towards their targets, children. Last I checked, fart jokes are still in.
I'm not saying the silly parts were classic, but I certainly understand why they're there: to get people in the theater. At least they didn't target only children. Men were targeted too. Megan worked didn't she? Wasn't she rated as the sexist woman in Hollywood during Transformers run?
shroobmaster:
I find it kinda funny how the guy named after a RiD character is complaining about not being serious.
That serious was so much comedy it was more like a transformers parody than anything.
Backscatter:
Despite fan complaints, I think this is happy news. Digilaut:
Yeah..good news for Transformers, I guess. Transformers is hot again in the eyes of the public, and it makes money for our hobby to grow
Personally, I didn't like the movie for most part. One big trainwreck caught in one obstable after the other (writers strike, etc.)..but ah well. If people like it, then who am I to judge? Plus, I DO like the designs..so it's not all bad.
One thing I'm concerned about is the quality of the movie franchise, though, because judging from older movie franchises (or franchises in general), I fear this might happen:
Step 1: Movie 1 was pretty decent. People went to see it and most liked it, made good money. People got hyped to see the second one.
Step 2: Movie 2 is pretty awful. Still, everyone went to see it because they were hyped by Movie 1. Thus, movie 2 makes alot of money. This will make the film company think this type of movie and the level of quality 'works' .
Step 3: People involved in the movie franchise opt to have a much better third movie, because they believe Movie 2 was bad, and want to deliver a better movie. Film company, still bathing in money, agrees to let the team do it.
Step 4: Movie 3 is a much better movie, but because so many people were letdown with Movie 2, less people go see Movie 3,so it makes alot less money, even though it's a better movie.
Step 5: Film company comes to the conclusion that: A) Movie 2 with bad quality makes alot of money, and B) Movie 3 with good quality doesn't make so much money.
Step 6: Movie 4 (if there will be one), will be bad quality again, but because people liked Movie 3, more people will go see Movie 4 again. result: another bad quality film makes alot of money.
Step 7: All movies will be bad quality from now on until the film company finds out they stop making money and claims it to be because the audience have become tired of the franchise.
Step 8: Franchise is left alone for years.
Am I too much of a pessimist to think this way? I know this is how alot of short sighted company analists think..and it's worrying!
Sure enough, people liked ROTF for what it was..but a TF movie could be alot better (or at least up to par with the first one), and I really hope to see them up the ante... megaxz01:
Kind of curious...
I posted this information to this site yesterday, via an update to my initial news. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transf...n-day-1-a.html
I edited my first post yesterday, with this news, then bumped it stating I updated my first post.
Not that I care really, but just curious.
In any regard, this is good news, as I stated in my thread. I also stated -
BRING ON TF3!!!

Anyway, I could write out a multiple paragraph post explaining myself here, but I'm not going to. I thought the movie was lame. Period.
Just like I loved Transformers Animated and a lot of people went "LOL TEEN TITANS." Not everyone likes everything.
My big worry though is that the powers that be only listen to dollars and not sense. This movie doing as well as it did means that they're going to do more of the same paper-thin plot and lame jokes and up the ante in the sequel.
Sure, there were parts of ROTF I liked, but they were like sprinkles on a sh** sandwich.
sideswipe1:
the day people stop insulting people over a movie and realize people have different tastes will be the day the world ends.
this is great news for those of us that enjoyed the movie. if you didn't like the movie, why buy it? i know it says transformers but there is a thing called common sense. i don't buy every figure that comes out, i get the ones i like. does that make me a bad fan? no. it makes me someone that thinks before i buy something and only get things i want/like. if you don't like the movie, getting the dvd is a giant waste of money that people will use to complain about/troll with.

LOL at the hate in this thread. Read the title of thread : Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen sales 7.5 million units in first week
To me; 7.5 million liking it enough to buy it the week it came out, says a lot more than a handful of haters screaming how "it sucked"
Chris McFeely:
Whatever you want to say about the quality of the film, I think you've got to be pretty deluded to think that ROTF being more coherent and having less immature humour would have made it more successful on a financial level. Critically, sure, but the thing was a lisence to fucking *print* money and it took ridiuclous sums of money that films made much better than ROTF don't even get NEAR. As these DVD sales prove, it wasn't some crazy fluke that it took the money in theatres (like, for example, as people sometimes suggest, that audiences went in without hearing the critical panning and hated it but they paid and that was it, and that was where the money came from) - Joe Public likes - maybes even LOVES - this movie.
