tfan123:
Hopefully, the HA Skids will be gold teethed, and if there is a HA MF (Mudflap[), it'll say that on the lp
Triggerhappy:
running change I guess
DeceptiKreep:
How do you know if you have the gold tooth Skids, aside from opening and transforming him? All of mine are still sealed, not sure I want to open them. And if I do, don't think I will transform them into their bot modes. The packaging has Skids with a gold tooth but I assume that it is not THAT easy to know.
420bot:
Actually the toy is a complete reflection of the movie. At first watch closely it does indeed say trax and skids on their plates during the alt. mode upgrade scene, but then later says mudflap.
I'm full of these tidbits.
Oracle_Aesir:
maybe the different plates are for different areas, like maybe in the US it says Trax, and Europe it says Mudflap?
DecepticonsRule:
Is Gold Tooth Skis really that hard to find? This is the first I've heard of it. My Skids has it, and I just picked up a random one too.
Lord Ramulus:
dont know if this is old news or not either, but Mudflap's...cod piece, for lack of a better term, is different from whats on the package. the package is the reddish orange color, the figure's is black.
Haloid1177:
I really am not that worried about finding this. The gold tooth was important to me because I usually display my Transformers in robot mode, but since it's really only important for alt mode, not important, imo.
Milk & Cheese:
Has there been a sighting of even a second varient like this? I'm not sure if it belongs front paged until at least one more is found in the field.

Wow, Is that a nice way to call a guy a liar? Coming from a guy who has all of 4 posts? Cause it really sounds like something someone would lie about. Come on buddy.
Lord Ramulus:
the picture isnt the greatest, but here you go...

lol I know the Movie forum automatically makes everything said on this site negative but I was implying that we need to get some confirmation is all. I found a "varient" Starscream myself back in 2007 but it turned out it was a very well repackaged return. I just want to know if I should be hunting as hard as I am. I lucked out and got a gold tooth varient and I would like a movie accurate Mudflap. Not calling him a liar at all, just hope for some confirmation.
Edit: I guess I need at least 12 more posts before my opinion can be heard.

I just got back from my TF toy hunting troll and I got this Mudflap toy with 'mudflap' on the license plate at my local TRU here in Moreno Valley, CA. I have scouted all the Mudflaps they have and they only have one of this very rare find. I also stopped by at two Walmart and Target and none of them has this rare mudflap name on the license plate. I definitely lucked out. Now I own both Mudflap. This rare one is definitely a collector's item. Sweet!
Oh, did I also mention that Walmart in Moreno Valley, CA now has the Walmart exclusive Ramjet and Skywarp? I bought them as well.
My wallet now really hurts.
Robogeek28:
Just checked mine and the license plate reads Trax, ah well.
Malikon:
yeah mine says Trax as well.

Hell yes, the hunt is on! One thing I noticed at my local Target today was all the Skids had the gold teeth. I think it may be a rolling change which would make the unpainted the rarer of the two, correct?
JacobPGalvatron:
Are you serious.
My brother just bought him 2 days ago!
At least when I learned about Skids with painted teeth, we had him for a while!
influence82:
Hasbro is pretty good on the running changes. The "Mudflap" license plate will probably be the more common one wheras the "Trax" plate will be the discontinued first release one. Similarly the unpainted tooth Skids will be the discontinued one wheras the painted tooth one will be the more common production one. Hasbro will run more of the later toys. I doubt that the "Mudflap" plate will be rare much longer as more and more of the waves are shipped. So far, I know of 4 deluxe movie toys with running changes:
Sideways: 1. Dark Silver-> 2. Lighter silver
Breakaway: 1. Brown-> Lighter brown
Skids: 1. Unpainted teeth-> 2. Painted teeth
Mudlap: 1. Trax license plate-> 2. Mudflap license plate
On a Related note: 1. Scout Detour-> 2. Scout Dead End (rename only)
This proves that Hasbro is trying hard to improve their products to be more movie accurate, therefore reducing the need for a Premium Series (which Hasbro said that they have no plans for anyway).
tomagnus:
well i got the "gold tooth" skids and the "trax" mudflap. i can live with that.
I also, saw the skywarp and ramjet repaints at the Saugus MA, walmart. but my funds are tight so I only grabbed the twins.
bombatron:
i found one with 'mudflap' on the license today at a local WM. i had to dig through a billion other mudflaps to find it though.. it was the only one in the stack so i guess it may be a rare find. another washington forum board member also found him at a different WM.
guard convoy:
i went to a different wal-mart today (curses brother forgetting to turn in his keys for the day ugh) so they only had three mudflaps....i couldn't wait any longer and just bought a traks one....might find the mudflap version later and return the traks one....oh well lol i got the twins, i feel complete
Jericho:
Wait, is one a mistake (mudflap or trax) or is it really not that big a deal? I actually have the Trax one, didn't notice nor did I honestly care one bit.
What is the non-gold tooth Skids, just another white one?
influence82:
It is not a mistake. What I think is that when Hasbro originally designed the toy, they did not know the final name of the character or its final design, so they just put the name of the vehicle on the license plate. After they saw the movie and saw the actual design, they decided to make the toy more movie accurate.

Has this been confirmed? For awhile I saw stores getting the darker versions but now all the stock seems to have gone back to the original colors.

I just came back from said TRU 6/30 and they had plenty of Mudflaps but only one with the Mudflap plates which I snatched. Also got Leader Prime since it was all on sale plus I had a 20 dollar Ghostbusters gift card plus they gave me another 10 dollar gift card. Total price 23 bux when I use that new gift card later on. Booya

i got my mudflap, variant running change whatever you want to call it....it was 1 out of like 50 on the peg....however date stamp lists at 913XXX where as the trax is 911XXX/910XXX
so i checked the case asst. and they are all 911XXX/910XXX
btw: how is breakaway dark --> light?, and sideways dark --> light? i got all my figures before botcon and weeks before street date? so the dark breakaway is rarer and they are going to go with a lighter breakaway and same with sideways even though date stamp is older?

That is correct. The toys we see on the shelves now were probably made some time ago and shipped after a certain amount of time to the stores. When Hasbro realized that the movie and video game versions of the toys were different, they decided to produce later versions that reflect the more accurate representation. There was no need to recall the old versions so Hasbro just made the updated verisons in the same package. There is enough information to make this assumption. The stamped numbers are more likely a serial number as opposed to a date. The serial number would probably correspond to a date, but that is Hasbro's confidential information.

I agree with that view.
But has anyone heard anything about a revision wave case that has more Sideswipe in it that is now shipping where the sideswipe has shiny paint ?
I read a sighting for it today and I'm just waiting for image confirmation on it.
I'm guessing it's probably a batch change like the windows on Cannon Bumblebee now being semi-transluscent rather than semi-Opaque.
MeGrimlock79:
I found one of these "Mudflap" variants yesterday and just curious how rare of a figure this really is.
