Don't blame Hasbro. These are TRU exclusives meaning TRU asked Hasbro to make these. It wasn't Hasbro's idea, TRU wanted them so they had more movie toys to sell.

Because they keeps selling. Stores wanna milk the movie line for as long as they can before moving on to a brand new, untested toy line.

Armada/Botcon '08 Sideswipe says hi.
Basketball Jones:
I really doubt that TRU forced Hasbro into making these figures.

Hasbro probably passed around a series of repaint ideas to retail executives, and TRU was excited about these the most, given the sales of the movie line.

Same here. And while I won't be picking up Mudflap, kudos to Hasbro for all the Micromaster homages in the store exclusives.

Every where I go they are piled upon shelfs. I have asked quite a few other people, they dont seem to be seeling that much anymore. Which is good

He's just too big for what he's supposed to be.
I got Mudflap back when Cybertron was still out (just before Classics started to appear) & he's a great TF. I was trying to clean space, so a friend got mine & while he was cool I don't want to buy him again in that color scheme. I'd get him if he was an Autobot, which would be more fitting for those colors. As for Inferno, I'm not really hard-up for it, so odds are I'll pass on that one too.

Yea! Me too! I was considering Jetstorm to bolster my Classics Decepticon ranks, but now that Classics Astrotrain is compatable with Jetstorm I'll have to get him now. Is he & Wingblade out yet, or soon? o_O??

, totally. I don't mind Cybertron repaints that much. Most of them were pretty Classic-like designs, so re-painting them as new, cool characters is fine with me. I too like the Micromaster homages, so as long as this is something continued in Classics 2.0 I'll be happy. The 2.0 Blaster I considered buying, but my friend told me that the Cybertron Soundwave toy isn't as great as you think. Shame too, as it doesn't look to bad as Blaster.

Yeah, I agree. That color-scheme totally doesn't click with me as "Decepticon". It's just the Movie-line's shtick though; realistic vehicle modes with realistic color schemes. Jetstorm can get away with it, as he has a very Decepticony face, but Mudflap (in that color scheme) just screams Autobot to me.

Ktulu:
Not for me
a person:
Yay! More movie toys!

Both of these repaints look fantastic. I don't have the Armada Red Alert mold in any of it's decos, so I will be buying this figure as soon as I see it.
Jarodimus:
Gah! Hooked for sure on the two surprise Voyagers. I loves me some Armada Reddy -- got all 3 previous versions. And I've been hoping for a Grapplish redeco of Mudflap.

I can't believe that there've been people in this thread complaining about a yellow deco for a crane. Wait -- yes, yes I can. ZOMGPLAYSKOOLUNREALISTIK!

I'm also probably sufficiently snared to buy Jetstorm with the new Astrotrain piggyback revelation.

Oy.
Nightrain:
Eh, the white is what I don't like about Mudflap. Needs more contrast.

It has nothing to do with a yellow crane deco being "unrealistic"... it's that the yellow they chose is just plain ugly (based on these pics), and the finer details of the deco look like they don't bring out the best in the mold.

In short, it doesn't look so good... which is kind of a shame, because I've been hoping to get a yellow or orange repaint of Mudflap for a long time. Now that we have one, it's not as nice as it could have been.

Sso02V:
If Mudflap is going to be an Erector homage, he needs a red face.
AutobotMarine:
I like Red Alert. That's all.
lookinglasself:
Easy pass on both of these. Inferno's bot mode is okay, but the alt mode is a joke. Mudflap should have been Grapple (it makes sense), but that mold is absolute crap. To echo other's feelings here, enough with the repaints for the movie line .. it's done.
Fort Max:
Wow, I'd hate to be the poor guy at Hasbro who was told one day that he had to come up with a way to sell another Armada Red Alert re-deco.

The Mudflap repaint is cool, I loved that mould, it had such a bloody clever transformation that really stood out in the simplisticly transforming ranks of the Cybertron line. I do however already have the mould and nice as it is I very rarely buy duplicates.

Same goes for Jetstorm, great colours on that plane mode, looks very believable but I've had that toy since it came out in Japan.
Red leader:
no no no!!!!!! these dont even come close to fitting in with the movie molds! thanks for the news though
Maximo Prime:
i also enjoyed the "behind the scenes" stuff about each of the figs. More of that please.

And...? You're not the only person to bring that up as if I forgot Armada Sideswipe was in the set, just quoting you alone out of convenience. I was only talking about Blurr, and Red Alert, nothing else.
Grimwing:
TRAITOR. All shall hail the glory of Allspark Power. More toys r us exclusives are cool, more characters for the line good, rather than the truly mindless battle damaged toys. I have enjoyed the powerlinx red alert for a few years now and it is a pretty great armada figure. Lots of switches and missles. recommended. I'll buy them on the web site like I did for wing blade and jetstorm.

edit: he he. I just read those hasbro production notes this thread links to. When I got Jetstorm last week I thought the stripes reminded me of classics astrotrain. I'm going to try and connect the two together like the description says. That's really cool If it works.
pmoverlord-1972:
i cant wait for them so is cutback4197

So you're wondering the point of pointing out the Armada Wheeljack repaint?

Fact "debated" due to overlooking Armada Wheeljack repaint, which renders those points null & void.

Again, the fact is "debated" with another hair split over Cybertron vs. Armada Blurr.

So I pointed out Armada Wheeljack because he renders the entire inane debate null & void. It is a FACT Botcon is using a PURELY Armada mold that has not been used since 2003. So.... carry on, nothing to see here.
Lumpy:
i'll be getting inferno, but calling him first aid...and now i'll be selling powerlinx red alert as well, who i used to call first aid...

and when i get home, i'm gonna bust out astrotrain and sky shadow and combine the two...that's so cool....
Obvious Prime:
*coughG2Hookcough*
SPLIT LIP:
It says on the site he was going to be called Sawtooth inspired by Erector.

I like how they mentioned Tote. Obscure Micromaster references, FTW.

Indeed. My interest wasn't in "proving" Bass X0 wrong, since he wasn't, but in correcting Silent_Magnus about Red Alert. Would've been easier if I'd brought up A-Wheeljack, but I only opted to mention the two TFs that he did. So continue to carry on, still nothing to see here. It seemed less silly before you edited your post to quote everybody.

I don't quite like the proposed Sawtooth name. Sure, Mudflap has that blade, but it's not exactly one of his key features (teehee). Would befit someone decked out with more melee weaponry. Erector, innuendo aside, would have worked if he wasn't still a Decepticon, but that name does have its own baggage!
airfox:
I love all these Micromasters homages. I hope Hasbro keeps producing these kind of repaints of Micromasters so we can have an upsized Micromaster army.

That means I'll try to buy Mudflap. He's gonna be Erector and - while I suck at customizing - I'll try to paint the face red and the white/light gray a darker shade of gray.

Inferno OTOH sports the best deco that mold has received, but I really don't like the mold. The only thing somewhat convincing me of buying Inferno as well is the Tote connection (Tote, Powertrain, Highjump and Mudslinger were my first and favorite Micromasters)

I wasn't interested in Jetstorm ... but that "combination" possibility with Classics Astrotrain is buy-worthy.

Hmm... that's a great idea. Inferno as pre-Energon Inferno. I could be convinced to buy Inferno based on that.

I think currently (with the movie line's success) it's the other way around.

TRU is like "Hasbro! Give us more Movie Toys. Exclusives to us!"

And Hasbro is like "But look at all these Animated toys"

And then TRU: "NO! MOVIE! MOVIE! All your other lines don't sell as well"

So Hasbro ends up developing whatever recolor scheme they have laying around as TRU exclusives.

Zie:
After seeing the (much better) pics in the Botcon Megatron thread, I think I may have to pick up Mudflap...though I'd prolly make him into a 'bot somehow. And while I love the war Red Alert looks in his vehicle mode, and think the concept matches the original Movie Ratchet design absurdly closely, I'm still not sure I want the toy. The scrawny arms/wide chest are my biggest problems with the mold...but otherwise it's fairly decent.
The Asp:
Mudflap would make a great Erector.

Judging by that missile and the extending crane.

Obvious Prime:
Here's hoping Reprolabels makes some stickers for these guys.
Autovolt 127:
Inferno awesome, I've wanted to get Armada red Alert mold I' call him Tote.,

Mudflap's should of been called Sawtooth. I'l call him Sawtooth.

These i will buy

Cybertron Mudflaps polluting shelves? These stores you speak of must be stuck in a time warp. I haven't seen, nor heard of, Mudflap in over a year.

Anyways, I will probably be picking these up. Just for the simple fact that I work there.
butz:
I also LOVE the up-sized Micromaster updates, and think they need to keep them coming as much as possible (there's inevitably going to be repaints from previous lines in Universe, so... )
Aaron:
Those two guys look good. And I like the blurbs about the inspiration for each of the molds.
dare:
The Red Alert mold is still as horrid as ever. I still regret getting the Orange one.

But Mudflap, I like. Looks more like a construction vehicle than the blue version, and an Erector homage. Must buy! If nothing more than to add to the "Hasbro does homages of micromasters with silly names" gang.

It looks good from the transformers pro-animated monkeyspank's grouppf fans/or faction's /view/logic of " MOVIE BAD, ANIMATED GOOD"...they think that this will FORCE hasbro to release the animated line early....WHATEVER.

Personally i think ANYTHING Hasbro makes transformer-wise that they release will be doing great for the rest of 2008 and well into 2009 with the new movie coming out next year....all the molds from the movie are slowing down mainly due to most people already having bought them....
Drew Eiden:
I love the descriptions.
ToddJumper:
Both repaints are not great, and why release an Armada mold, bleh. Mudflap in yellow is just ugly. The blue wasn't so bad.
Noisemaze:
Okay, lets see here, buy Mudflap & he'll be my Classics Grapple, then buy another Mudflap, paint him red, give him a ladder & there's my Classics Inferno. Sounds like a plan!!!
