Transformers Movie Evac Redeco First Look 20090104_ddd6a9efc44dc2827fc2A
Thanks to chenkofs of Actoys.net for posting the first images of a Transformers Movie Evac repaint. The original poster indicates it will likely be released in the Revenge of the Fallen toy line. The Evac toy uses the Transformers Movie Blackout mold with a retooled head. Check out the images by clicking the thumbnail.

DISCUSSION: (Jump To This Thread On The Boards)
Autovolt 127:
it reminds me of Coptur from the Go-bots.
Skylock:
Nice repaint, looks alot better for EVAC.
neospark1:
Gorgeous color scheme. Hopefully Hasbro does not employ rabid cats to paint the toys.
Beastbot X:
Hrrm, wish they would have used a different base color-- he looks too much like Blackout in vehicle mode. Iffy on whether I'm going to get him or not, and I'm usually a completist on these sorts of things.

That whole "Ovelon" thing makes him twice as nice, though.
Cast:
The fact this guy is a whirle homage just sent him from maybe to must have. Can't pass up on a Wrecker... except half repaints that try and pass for springer.
Ultrawave:
Meh, He looks alright..

I'm going to pass though and wait for the videogame Shockwave retool =/*crosses fingers*

I just fixed my automorph last night. Does yours not align righ tin alt mode? Unscrew the screws on the front cabin, on the screw side the top gear has long tooth, that goes on the very last tooth of the bottom gear. Close it up and you should be good to go,

I won't be picking this one up BTW. I have Premium Blackout and love it enough!
Zherbus:
Ehhhhh... it looks nice, but I am unsure if it makes the cut for me.
Stormcrow:
Gnarly. Another figure I can skip.
Doesnt look bad, but I have No reason at all to pick it up.
Bgrngod:
Gotta be a different character. We already got Evac, and I highly doubt he is a big enough character to warrant a second coloring of him. Looks good to me Probably gonna snag it when we see them. Maybe even set them all up displayed Seeker style.
Obvious Prime:
Nice. Will buy.
ShadowStitch:
Blurgh... just what I didn't need...a recycled repaint of a repaint from 2007.

I already have two Blackouts and an Evac I'm trying to get rid of -- the mold is not THAT good that it needed resurrecting...not that it even really warranted the multiple purchases I made in the first place.

Hell, if it hadn't had the whole Movie connotation, I never would have bought it in the first place. It's not a very good figure, and it's only now, almost two years later, that I can finally see through the fog of hindsight that I really just do not like this mold. At all. Count me out.

Bonus points to Hasbro though, for the sly Dorvack reference. If they'd done this to, say, Cybertron Evac, all in Blue and White so he could hang out with Universe Roadbuster... I might have been sorely tempted.
Takara_destron:
Nice, but will probably pass.
Starscreamer95:
I don't think he's Blackout. He's probaly just a repaint of Evac so they can put him in the ROTF toyline.
But I may get him, may not...
G1Wheeljack:
It looks like Blackout as an Autobot with that color scheme, wonder who he actually is.

an intelligent guess would point to Whirl.
Ktulu:
Looks a lot better than the creamsicle one. Might consider it, though the tiny robot mode bugs me
Megatronwp38:
Blah...boring.
DeceptiKreep:
Let the constant repaints begin!

Considering that he's a totally different type of helicopter, not to mention a triple-changer, that'd be one heckuva retool. I'd expect some finger cramps, if I were you.
BigRC83:
We are going to see repaints of the first movie for years.

well they haven't been able to repaint the molds for Universe or Animated so this is their way of catching up.

anyway, many people may have missed out on these molds - i never got myself any version of the Voyager Starscream mold.

Universe is at LEAST 2/3's repaints.

Animated has it coming though...
Bahamut Prime:
Looks good!
Hiro Prime:
Excellent Whirl homage. I'll add him to my New Universe shelf along with Springer and Roadbuster.
Sound Blaster:
To make it easier for people not living overseas here are the pics:

If you squint, that says "OVELON". A Dorvack nod? It would make even more sense for him to be named Whirl if the number's not a big coincidence.
Thanks for figuring that out so quickly!

That's a pretty neat reference! Whirl it would definitely would be!
Greyryder:
That's so bought. Curse my love of the color blue! I don't need three of that mold, but I must have it.

haha thats why i want him to
Backscatter:
Looks good, Whirl or Gobot withstanding. Will buy. I really like Helicopter Transformers .
Mechafire:
So it's Movie Evac... recolored as... kinda Premium Blackout?

Meh.

Haha, well maybe someday my finger cramps will pay off. I was hoping they'd produce one for the first movie, since Paylod and Swindle/Camshaft were were game-only characters. =/ Maybe I'll hope they'll just produse Shockwave's Apache Helicopter mode instead of teh triple changer.

That shouldnt give me too many figner cramps..
Railguard:
Looks cool, maybe I'll pick it up if its not too much money.
Thundershot:
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (though I did skim some of the replies), what if Botcon DID get the rights to movie molds for next year, and are doing a movie set. We've already seen a Ramjet and Skywarp, now what could pass for Whirl.

Just sayin'...

I'm just sayin'....

Skywarp and Ramjet don't look like "realistic" jets that they generally want on store shelves, so either that stance changed, or they're some kind of exclusive. And the Botcon ones should be showing up soon...

So far, the only teaser we have for Botcon is "...for one young Autobot..."

For all we know, it's the adventures of Bumblebee between the movies.

Pete has said repeatedly that they can't use the molds from the movie due to licensing reasons. However, what if they got permission to do an entire Botcon Movie set at a Botcon that's right before the movie sequel? It's pretty farfetched, but anything is possible.

i can see them wanting to do that...but it would still suck and all 3 are V-class they only use 2 V-class at botcon don't they?
herbferru:
why not just make a new mold for evac may cost more to develop but i definitely more likely to buy a new mold than a repaint

just another one of hasbro's way of maximizing their profits from a mold. guys, don't fall for it.

Or, you know, buy a toy if you like it.

Just my wacky little theory.

I really doubt that for two reasons.

First off, all three are Voyagers. Three "large" Transformers in one set, two of them the same mold? Possible, but it'd be unprecedented on FP's part.

Secondly, Whirl here is a bit "second rate" for an homage. When you do homages FP-style, you make DARN sure the person knows exactly who they're looking at. It was only after the rather obscure "Ovelon" thing that people decided this was Whirl and not some random repaint. The colors would be spot-on Whirl and not so close of a layout to a retail release's if this were a FP exclusive. And he'd have a head remold to his G1-y self, too.

I'm liking this repaint alot...two of my faves the color Blue and Flying TFs, next to Primes of course.

I hope they don't do Movie toys for the boxed set...not all the molds were that spectacular IMO. Then again, this IS year 5 for FunFub (Botcon), sorta a milestone, so who knows.
Feralstorm:
Horrifying temptation for something I shouldn't buy. Only thing that would make it worse would be Natobot announcing a one-eyed replacement head for the toy.

It's not like people have already explained this in detail (even with images) on page 3 and 4.
Scourge_151:
I like this a lot, much nicer colours to me than the original Evac to me. If we see him in the UK I will be most tempted!
Nerdicon:
Im hearing er reading alot about shockwave. In the PSP version of the movie game he wasn't a helicopter. He was a cool tank. I can't find any images though but I prefer him to a chopper. I like this mold in autobot markings anyway. Eventhough it's not really auto-ish to be a chopper.
Astrotrain52:
Looks better than the first Movie Evac, but I don't know if that will be enough to make me buy him.

He almost has the same shade of blue as Blackout did (tho Blackout was a bit darker). I'm still saying pass. So far, only Ramjet and Skywarp look good enough to buy as far as repaints go from ROTF.
RedAlert Rescue:
Possible meanings of the color choice.

1) It matches the colors of the Navy Helicopters on the John C Stennis in the ROTF movie.
2) It's supposed to look like Soundwave more
3) It's supposed to look like RID's ROTOR
4) It's supposed to look like The Gobot 'Flip Top'
5) Someone at Hasbro just likes Blue Helicopters ?

I hope the existance of an Evac repaint means there's a slightly increased chance of two things EVAC & Incinerator as a Legends toys and Springer as a Voyager.
