The Takara/Tomy website has been updated with a flurry of new material including an interview with designer Hironori Kobayashi. Wile this interview has yet to be translated, Mr. Kobayashi is famous for designing such fan favorites as Buster Optimus Prime and Masterpiece Grimlock.

Also included in this update are new pictures of the upcoming Alternity Bumblebee and Cliffjumper figures and the recently released Buster Optimus Prime and Human Alliance Skids figures.

Fit For natalie:
Guess we'll have to wait for a translation.
Powersa:
Red Suzuki looks better. But the bot mode is too ugly with that giant chest/belly.

OptimusNIXX:
Under Device Label, there's a "Product Comment from Toshiba". Can someone please kindly translate it? I assume it relates to the Blaster USB hub. Sigh, I hope it relates to postponing, rather than canceling, Blaster...

My preorder at HLJ is cancelled already...
Squall42080:
So now that we have the software from the Device Label Ravage/Tigatron available for download from Takara's site...how long until someone makes it useable for everyone?

I have my Ravage ordered at TFSource...but unfortunately I combined shipping with the Blaster USB Hub...so its not shipping...and with no word on Blaster's release, I'm not sure when I'll actually get Ravage!

I downloaded the software from Takara and have it installed, but my understanding is that there is more to the software on an unwriteable portion of Ravage's memory.
stevej:
I understand the criticisms but these 2 Alternity figures are the first transforms I've been excited about, and therefore ordered, since the last masterpiece.
PoweredConvoy:
Yeah I'm really excited about them, and think they look fantastic!

I'm getting both for sure, the early proto pic's and concept art were a little iffy but seeing the finished product I'm sold on them
BigRC83:
I think I will give these new Alternity figures shot. If I like Cliffjumper I will purchase Bumblebee next.
sanchomaul:
not much of a bumble bee fanatic but he does look pretty cool. its warming up to me.

TFsource canceled the listing. I had the exact same problem - I had to email them to get it sorted out. I ended up canceling the whole order.

You should contact them pronto.

Just did!
Lucs:
I can't help but feel that Alternity figures are a bit overpriced and kind of lack that aw that Binaltech gave me but damn the itch that I gotta scratch by buying these 2. I can't help myself. I haven't been buying much, with the movie stuff everywhere and I even limited my TFA purchases when they were going strong. I really hope the next Alternity figure is something amazing like Wheeljack or Jazz and they are amazing.

Unfortunately there's nothing about Blaster. It is just a casual comment from the Toshiba team who worked on the software part of Device Label, such as how it took 15 months to complete the USB Memory figures.

In this interview there aren't many new exciting revelations, though.

Mr.Kobayashi came up with the idea of Buster Optimus Prime and designed the muffler > gun transformation.
It was also difficult to recreate the exact hue of purplish blue with the plastic, which he considers as more film accurate.

He belongs to domestic product team, and for ROTF he has been mainly responsible for some modifications of the products aimed at Japanese release.

He explains the reason of developing EZ Devastator as, "While RD-16 Devastator is impressively huge, its strength is in gimmicks. I thought Japanese TF fans might not be satisfied with it, since even 25 years old (G1) item achieved Robot > Vehicle > Combine modes."

He was in charge of all Masterpiece products, except for MP-3. He again hints of the new MP next year 2010, which has a significance to Transformers. ("2010" is s Japanese title for G1 season 3.)

One of his favourite (of the products he developed) is Rescue Hero Gobots Chopper!
Randomus Prime:
I am very pleased with my Device Label Ravage. There is a 3d Ravage that runs around your desktop when you plug it in. Pretty darn cool. Too bad about Blaster (which I did preodrer) but I guess it's the universe's way of saving me money. or Not sure how I feel about it anymore.
SmokescreenSWE:
Someone related to 2010 can pretty much only mean Rodimus Prime, right?

Probably, either Rodimus or Galvatron IMO, maybe a Ultra Magnus armor if they feel a lil' bit cheap;

Yes, alternity, at firs gave that kind of vibe, especially considering the size and material (compared to binaltech). I ended up cancelling my preorder of red convoy and regret it.

But the universe tell me that I should have it, and indeed, I got one for extremely cheap, a red convoy . And when I fiddle with it, the more I realise. That this line is on par or even better than binaltech.

COnsidering the the dimension of the bots when transformed, the auto morph gimmick, is way more awesome (in my opinion) than binaltech.

ALthough I kinda resent the Bumbleboobs, I still won't cancel my preorder of him - since swift is my car of choice
Unicron129:
a new masterpiece mold would be awesome! Hopefully not magnus armor though since I dont have the cab...
TCJJ:
Blaster is confusing, because when I last checked, HLJ still had him up for pre-order. He'd be the first I'd buy though. If only he were cheaper... The Alternity figures all look nice though. I just wish I could afford to buy at least Convoy.
Sledgehammer:
A new MP for 2010? Hmm, MP Galvatron and/or MP Rodimus Prime...yep, reckon those'd pretty much qualify as must-haves.

*speculates wistfully*
Gaokaiser:
Wait, wait, wait...guys, calm down. Mr. Kobayashi just says "If possible, we hope to produce new MP(s) suitable for memorable year:2010." and no proof for MP Rodimus or something.

But this is at least the second time he referes to "2010". Below quote is taken from Generations 2009 vol.2 interview.
(I posted this in one of the MP wishlist threads in TF Toyark in June.)

Quote:
The year 2010 is almost here, so personally I'd like to develop Rodimus Convoy. It would be amazing if he could transform from Hot Rodimus to Rodimus Convoy, but I am not sure if it's possible myself.
He is often associated with the toy's "old man face" and "stiff knees" images, so I really want to show that Rodimus Convoy is in fact a cool character.
There are many hurdles until the realization of a product, and Masterpiece is a high-end merchandise, so I would like to consider it very carefully to create a high quality product.
[disclaimer]Though this is not official by any means, but his "personal" opinion.[/disclaimer]

Whoa, a hot rod to rodimus prime mold would be incredible. It is actually the best way to handle both characters since, if we only get hot rod, we wont get a rodimus prime and vice-versa.

I like his thinking of making Rodimus Prime into a cool character... and a high end, quality product. It seems like his transformation if Takara designers follow the cartoons animation is not difficult but I would be curious to see what the designers and engineers come up with. Im very excited of the possibility of making Rodimus Prime into a masterpiece...

I would prefer Galvatron, but a Hot Rod/Rodimus would also be quite epic.

Besides, the Autobots (Cybertrons) are getting outnumbered.
Murasame:
Galvatron first needs a voyager classics toy.

Only if it is with an alt mode similar to his original one and not a tank. The Deluxe tank would have probably worked as a Voyager far better than it did as the version we got. However, the original alt mode still has a special place in my heart and I want a decent rendition of it. Masterpiece is the most likely way I'm going to get that.

That would be epic.

We were speculating in the Human Alliance thread that a Human Alliance Hot Rod would be awesome, but a masterpiece Hot Rod/R Prime would be so much more. And maybe they could make it work with a HA scale figure as well.

And if they miss 2010, the movie's 25th anniversary is 2011, so they should definitely take their best shot at it.

Now that's an interesting point to remember. There is likely to be some sort of celebration of that anniversry by either Takara-Tomy or Hasbro.
Backscatter:
MP Rodimus in 2010 would be way too cool. Though for my own reasons, I hope he's MP Grimlock/Starscream sized. Looking forward to Alternity Cliffjumper and Bumblebee.

And hopefully TakTomHasbro will pull out all of the stops. Just like they did for the 25th Anniversary of the brand.

I like the idea of a Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime combo.

I've given up on any kind of scale with the MPs so all I'd ask is for Hot Rod to either be:

1. approx. 1/24 (and fit in with my BTs) and Rodiums to be the same height as Prime and Megs

or...

2. for Hot Rod to be approx. 1/32 (and fit in with my Alternity) with Rodimus to be the same height as Grimlock and iGear's MP Prime.

Thank you kindly.

If they do a Galvatron as well I only hope the do him the same size as Rodimus Prime. The G1 toys were hopelessly out!
