RonimusPrime:
According to the
Rumor Mill of The Digital Bits, there will be an extended edition of Transformers on DVD and Blu-ray released in 2009, likely to coincide with the sequel's release.
RHansen:
it will probably just be that one version they had in theaters that didn't really have any good new scenes
Omnius:
The 30sec extra footage?
OmegaVPrime:
I smell a huge flop if true
Big Bot:
Pretty predictable.
SmokescreenGT:
So I guess this'll be the version that was shown in IMAX?

5 minutes of really boring shit.
If they don't include new extras...IT MUST BE FAIL
Megatronwp38:
I went and saw it in IMAX and the extra footage wasn't that great. It was worth it to see it in IMAX but not worth it for the extra footage. It really didn't add to the movie at all. I was waiting for the release of this, I knew it was going to happen soon than later.
Jazz1979:
the extra scenes are just showing more minutes of no need human dialogs instead of showing more of the Transformers.
SlayerDarkCross:
Hmm no one can appreciate 5 more minutes of footage that they didn't have to give out.
Apriorion:
I know this is pathetically optimistic, but what if ILM provides some more footage to illustrate a bit more backstory on Cybertron or the 'Cons talking to each other?
darthrage:
if there are no all-new bonus features, then I'll pass
Even a new commentary track with the cast and a whole collection of TV spots will do
Hollywood Hoist:
According to thedigitalbits.com (an extremely reliable dvd site) there will be a Transformers extended DVD coming soon.
"From Paramount, we're hearing that a Transformers: Extended Edition is planned for DVD and Blu-ray release in 2009, likely timed to coincide with the theatrical release of Bay's sequel film next summer"
Malikon:
damnit how many times are they gonna make me buy this movie!!
on one hand, "cool!" on the other hand "Damnit!" That'll be the 4th copy I've gotten.
My bunghole's getting a little sore here Has'blo
scubaboy31:
...and this is why i have yet to buy the movie. Pretty obvious move really. All big effects movies do this. As long as it's more than the IMAX cut (which admittedly was good, I'd just like more though.)
Feralstorm:
Transformers 1.5, now with 450 hours of previously unseen footage. Granted, most of it is of the crew hanging around the craft services table, but still...
torpedobarb:
same way lord of the rings did it.. to make a shitload more money!
Gordon_4:
somehow though I don't think TF will have the same ammount of cut material to tantalise us with.
Ephland:
If this is true, and the Transformers movie EE doesn't include any actual Transformers, then that's just a huge pile of fail.
wrecker:
wow so this is like the 5 version of this movie? Who directed this movie again Bay or Lucas?
I bet there are some people (I use that term lightly) who have every dvd/BR release to date. Thinking of that makes me sad.
Omegatron1:
If it's not Megan Fox nude scenes, I'll pass.
Jetstorm:
Depending on the new footage, this could either be totally kick-ass... or a letdown.
Either way I'm probably gonna buy it xD
(now if only Fox would release a super special edition of the Simpsons Movie lol)

But Lord of the Rings did it right, the extended cuts were 85% better than the originals.
Maybe this new version will show Barricade changing his mind about being in the final fight.
Railguard:
Well since I don't have a blue ray player I don't have to run out and spend money on this.

Missing the full point, as usual: it's also supposed to be on DVD, not just Blu-Ray.
Scottamalla:
I guarantee you that there'll be more extras about the sequel than extra stuff pertaining to the original. They'll sell it as having "Extra Super Mega Ultra Exclusive content" about the sequel. It comes out a month before TF2 so it makes sense and people will be hyped.
Counterpunch?:
You know, there is a reason why movies are edited...
Paying for these extras is really paying for (literally), 'extra crap'
Incepticon:
I already own two copies of the movie, so I'll need a lot of convincing to pick up a third copy. Getting 5 'bonus' minutes of filler originally left on the cutting room floor certainly won't do it.
Drake:
I'm happy with the BluRay version I have now. Not big on the whole 'double dipping' with movies.
And I quote the great Lone Starr, "We're not just doing this for money. We're doing it for a shitload of money!"

Wasn't that the problem with the whole movie
MegaHavok:
You can tell the people who bought all the versions already by their complaints of fail. This is an extremely predictable move and we have known it was coming since the release of the Imax version. To expect anything more then the imax version and maybe a new doc or two is a wasted effort. Luckily I did not buy the last blueray version because I new this one was coming
ams:
Totally makes sense they'd eventually get this out there.
Assuming it's the extra IMAX stuff, it's just a bit of dialog in a couple of scenes. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but let's not pretend like there's another five minutes of fully rendered CG robots sitting on the shelf just waiting for this release.

I would not appreciate paying for the movie a 3rd time if it's the footage from the IMAX version, no. Not. One. Bit.
Moroni Prime:
although it would be nice to see what happens to *SPOILER* Fig *SPOILER* after the scorpinok attack. To finally get some closure on that. Although as I remember, *SPOILER* he's supposed to come back in part 3 *SPOILER*.
Galvatro: Hello All!
This is ridiculous. How many versions of this damn Movie is Paramount going to release?? 2 transforming cases, Mask Editions, 'special' pack sets for virtually every retailer in the known universe...enough already! This is reminding me of the T2 and its multiple releases, but with a much, much shorter release time between editions. In fact, I don't think T2 had this many editions. The redeeming factor to the Metal-Cased (Ultimate?) Edition was the lengthy extra footage that added much to the feature.
An idea- make this the IMAX Edition and put that fact on the front of the DVD case. BIG LETTERS- IMAX Edition in the neat blue color. And change the cover, please. Again, too much of the same old, same old. Maybe, a Movie poster cover or something. Making this version different enough may make it stand out against the retailer's other 5 versions of the same
Galvatro Cinemastique:
At the very least, you know they'll fix the Brawl/Devastator gaff!!

Way to slag off the wrong company - Hasbro doesn't even make DVDs.

Doesn't look like it.
