The second new Transformers movie series video review from Peaugh is of the just-recently-released Sci-Fi Revoltech Movie Optimus Prime. How does this non-transforming, high-detail figure measure up? Check out the review below:
50/50 on this guy…. looks great, but mine is a floppy mess… the joints in the feet are week and he is smaller than expected.. for some reason I was thinking he was closer to deluxe size..not scout..
i personally love this little guy. he is my first human shaped revoltech. all my others are animals. but this guy kicks total ass. he is a little floppy, but all revoltechs are like that to a degree. the only one i have that isnt super floppy is the T rex. i like the little extra guns. you can put them below his arms, on his gas tanks on his back, and on back and front of his shoulders. 2 swords would have been nice, or his sword and his energy ax. i am very satisfied with this though. i wanted a little pose-able IMMA BONE YOU LIKE A PHISH movie optimus prime with a rock solid paint job, and thats what i got.
I was afraid that I was going to be sorely disappointed after the review, but I think this little guy totally rocks. This is my first Revoltech and it's exactly what I wanted. A really awesome paint job, super flexible and fun. He's ready to lay some smack down on anybody that tries to mess with my router.
I understand the complaints about the giant gun, but meh, it's not that big of a deal to me. I'm just thrilled, absolutely thrilled about this guy. Best B-day present I've had in a while (even if I've had to wait a few months past my birthday).
There's no way my beloved Leader Class ROTF Prime would mug for the camera like this guy:
Anyway, I'm not sure if anybody else will be so thrilled, but I love this guy. Well worth the money I spent!
i,ve received mine today and it really looks good BUT the figure is very unstable and hard to stay up when doing action poses… i think one of the problem is that they used way too small revoltech joints and makes the figure clumsy….
nice review, but you totally missed the point of a revoltech review.
With no ofense but it felt like you did not really understood the concept, like saying that you didn't what the opened hands were for. It's all about doing awsome poses with it.
at least when it comes to revoltechs that is.
It might just be me, but that looks like a loose, soft, rubbery, floppy mess…
It is… unfortunately. I got mine yesterday hoping for a really cool figure… and was sorely disappointed. This is my first Revoltech, and maybe they are all that way… but I just don't like it.
Now the design, paint etc… fantastic, but it's not enough to save the figure.
You did a review for a revoltech and you didn't even show us his posability? How many points of articulation does he have? How good is his range of motion? How do the other hands look in action? I guess it is documented in other threads, but a video would've been able to show us better.
Anyway, I agree completely with what you said in the review. The guns, with the exception of the ONE movie-accurate one, look really half-assed. Combining guns is annoying enough in the main line with silly mechtech guns that are waaaay too big, but now other lines made for collectors are ALSO doing it?! Fuck that. Plus the sword is too big and there's only one of them. The potential for awesome accessories was limitless, and this is what they came up with? Give me an energon axe, battle hooks, the guns he used in TF1 and 2, anything but the shit that they gave us!
I will take your advice and stick to waiting til the DMK-01 gets a second release!

Fortunately the mold is awesome, if a bit 'pudgy', but whenever it moved it just looked like a jittery rag doll.
Welcome to Revoltech
Although this one looks worse than others I've seen. The appeal of revoltechs are the paint jobs, accessories (which in this case pretty much suck) and the posability, which isn't shown in the video. You can find some pics in other threads though.
EDIT: Y'know what would be awesome? If they were planning a second set with the trailer's weapons platform mode that included all the weapons that we all want! Like a second sword, the shield, the axe, and some better guns. THAT would make me buy this set too!
I also wish they did away with those stupid extra guns and just kept the sword (and add another) and the movie gun. The figure itself looks great, but those stupid extra "guns" just kill it for me.
Could have shown some poses to better showcase the Revoltech joints on the figure. That's what these Revoltech figures are meant for; to be posed and to hold said awesome action poses with the Revoltech joint system. Sure, they could have done away with some of the extraneous gun pieces and given us a second sword blade, but I suppose they want to ensure the hardcore collectors will buy two of him this way to get the double swords/guns. That aside, I love Revoltech Transformers and will definitely pick this up!

It's big but mostly it's just the angle of the picture that I took.
Transmetal
That sword looks way too big.

Obliterator999
Far too small for my tastes…
Batman
Figure looks awesome, but that gun…………….
I would have preferred a second sword and no guns at all.

good review peaugh. But disapointing about the figure, was all hyped up on the photo's.
Oh well, if I see it cheap somewhere I'll pick it up.
Thanks Peaugh.

Probably going to sell it… I have no use for it.
