2005 boards member billcosby has spotted Transformers Revenge Of The Fallen figures in Japan! Some of the figures seen were the scout and voyager figures.

Going beyond the call of duty, he snapped the pictures shown here, his shinobi-like skills reminiscent of circuit-su with a camera overpowering the bystanders trying to stop him. He then disappeared quietly into the sunset....

Hello all,

*Mods, wasn't sure if this should go in toys or news/rumors, feel free to move

These toys were spotted on Thursday afternoon, March 19th in Osaka. A shop in DenDen Town (Nipponbashi). If you're in the Kansai area, looks like these Revenge of the Fallen figures are available to you.

On the shelf four smaller (Legends-class?) figures were available: Dead End, Dirt Boss, Roll Bar and Knock Out. They were priced at 2200Yen each, roughly 20USD.

Next to them (and again, sorry for the blurrrrr) were (Deluxe class??) Ironhide and Optimus Prime. Optimus was going for 8800Yen (almost ninety USD, yikes!) and Ironhide was going a little less, for 6600Yen, maybe.
Sorry for the blurry snap. Whenever I take photos around Japan, people are always telling me to stop. Which is ironic, since the stereotype of a Japanese tourist is always one armed with a camera! Anyway, I've grown accustomed to simply pulling out the camera, disarming the flash, snapping a few and going away quietly.

I'll be back there this weekend to check again. My contact there tells me the Ganbo exclusives should be there at the end of the month, so I go in every week to take a look. Having said that... I'm saving my cash for Thurst and Dirge, so I didn't pick up any REVENGE today!! But I didn't see him so I couldn't ask him about the Revenge figures. So just those six were on display.

And yes, that M.Falcon is gigantic.
megatronkicksas:
Japan? First France now Japan!? What is going on in this world?
Orbital:
sweet, so only those scout ones were on the shelf and ironhide and optimus? i really hope we get some more toys coming out soon, so we get more potential character leaks!
Fort Max:
Those are obviously imports, on account of the fact that there's an animated Waspinator next to them.
Deadpool.:
WTF is this world coming to?!
Crombiecron:
I always wanted to go to japan but was always worried i wouldn be able to do nothin becasue i dont speak the language but everythin in that shop is in english so as long as i can buy toys im happy

cool taht optimus is there, cant wait for them to get to ireland grr
Cujo:

Yup.
Fit For natalie:
Eh. Those are just imported from China, not official releases. Prices for domestic retail TF stuff in Japan aren't THAT high.

Which I would have bought, if it weren't $45 bucks.
Henkei figures are a steal, though
FrankyWest:
Well, what... we buy them on ebay from them, they have them in stores, it's the revenge of the kamikaze
OMEGAPRIME1983:
Perhaps because of the early released figures over sea's hasbro will release domestically (usa) sooner than the end of may. Hey, I can hope...
LimeWire:
in japan the toys have stickers with japanese tf-translation names (like movie 1), the are importet from a dealker of stolen ahem... Pre-release Noe its right) products
LightningZERO:
The price is really SCARY
0R10N P4X:
Why would Ironhide and Prime be priced differently if it was true mass release?
NIBMRatchet:
Many thanks for the photos billcosby !!!

If these were sold in Japan, then pretty soon they'll be here in Sri Lanka.
I should start saving now, I guess

Can't wait for the movie !!!
Solrac333:
How come not in the U.S.?

Great photos!
Shizuka:
The two voyagers appear strange. I know that the first one is definitly Ironhide but the second looks like Starscream but I could swear that that's prime on his box
Shark Jumper:
Probably cheaper to buy Waspinator somewhere else...
clonemanager:
wow, What was the price tag on the animated Waspinator , 4500 yens ? ? wow, that is US$45~ And the scout class for 2200 yens !! that is what usually the deluxe class Transformers would be priced. This shop basically overprices everything BECAUSE they have them before everyone else...

Anyway Thanks for the sharing !! I wouldn't be excited seeing these overpriced shops... 8800 yens for a same mold of Voyager Optimus Prime is just ridiculous.
soundwaveCA:
Just to clarify these are not out at mass retail, looks like a hobby shop managed to get a hold of a case or two somewhere, probably imported from China.

And yes US only stuff like Animated and Titaniums are really sought after by Japanese collectors and will usually sell for crazy prices over there, they really go crazy for our stuff like we do for there's.
Bgrngod:
$20?!?! For a scout figure?

Man, you folks in Japan are getting the screw job on your toy prices.
Blitz.:
my money says their all on Ebay by tomorrow
blackout501st:
well, there poping up all over the place huh? wont be long b4 we see them in the u.s. gotta start saving money now!
Scourge_151:
No Japanese packaging and no 'USA edition' stickers = imports guys, as has been stated previously.
Cyber-Scream:
Nice photos. US should be soon.
seeker311:
I love that they are in robot modes this time; since I collect them in package, its nice to see some bots instead of vehicles from time to time.
OmarJT82:
Aint this a bitch,

France has them now! China has them now! Japan has them now! Yet the rest of us here in the U.S of A. have to wait until the end of May to see ROTF figures on store shelves!

What kind of shit is that?

What's weird is you didn't read the rest of the thread demonstrating that they are imports along with the Animated figures next to them which are also not sold in Japan.
Vangelus:
I think I know the shop you saw these in (used to make double-weekly visits to Den Den Town ).

They are very likely from the chinese sellers- packaged toys are becoming very common on ebay. When I was in Japan, a lot of Stolen Chinese Toy Auction(tm) items appeared in one or two Den Den Town shops. Classics Voyager 2-packs, cylinder-package Movie deluxes, WST Seekers, etc.
Scourge_151:

So if I'm reading this correctly, they're imports, not mass release? As in they aren't really available at retail in Japan and everything is getting blown way out of proportion?

Many shops in Den Den Town sell imported TF deluxes at those sort of prices, yes. For instance, in 2007, Classics deluxes like Rodimus or Starscream could be found being sold for those prices (this was months before Henkei came out). 6-inch Titaniums were often $30-45 as well, especially at Volks.

Yup.
Alpha-trion:
Imports or not it just sucks that one of us isn't that lucky to come across these. Granted I really have no interest in these figures like I did for the first film.

Yes, i did not read the whole thread.
PyroniusRex:
Ripoff, would never buy one of those things for that price.

Maybe the mods should change the topic's title so we don't get a stream of people who all say exactly the same thing about the US getting stuff after everybody else or the Japanese paying a lot of money for stuff?

They're just toy scalper prices for stolen toys. Scouts cost just over 1000yen RRP over there.

No, maybe everyone should read the OP's initial post before posting, then they'll realize that the topic title is accurate; the toys were spotted at Japanese retail and common sense would tell you those prices are not the prices the same as standard retail prices.
World Prime:
First of all thanks for the info! I live in the Kansai area, so this is good news, although from the ones you've shown I already got the ones I want from Chinese ebay sellers.

Secondly, what is with these cheesy front page posts from the mods? I like the normal ones soooo much better. Please stick to reporting the news. It feels so much more like news and less like a dorky hobby when you just report it normally.

THIS.
Doug:
Why would they be against him taking the pictures?
primal-convoy:
Ive had loads of probs with some shops in Akihabara refusing me to take pics.

The main reasons are:

1/ They dont want other shops to know what they are selling and for how much (especially if the pics are going online)

2/ They might be selling stuff that is "grey" market or even possibly illegal (toy shops in Japan also sell "adult" toys too)

3/ The otaku nerds in the shops dont want themselves to be in the pic.

4/ They are also Japanese, meaning that they "must follow the rules", even if those rules make no sense whatsoever. This is especially true when Otaku have their own shops and groups, as these "billy no mates" guys suddenly have power, much in the same way you get wimplings dishing out abuse in discussion forums online and banning people for little or no reason (ie: ninjavideo.net)

Camera phones are a good bet here, but regardless of the camera, you also have to deal with the rudeness that are the unwashed Japanese Otaku customers who will push past without even saying "sumimaseen" (excuse me).

That's why all my wonderfest pics for tformers were always so blurry.

I can understand this one. In Den Den Town (at least while I was in Japan) there were always major price wars between various shops. I remember when Henkei came out and all the shops were trying to ride the line of outdoing one another while still making a profit. Netted me a $25 Henkei Megatron. XD
