Thanks to an anonymous 4chan poster for the first look at the new Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime Leader Class Mold. Click the thumbnail to check it out.

BIO: "With the destruction of MEGATRON, OPTIMUS PRIME thought he was finally, after millions of years, at peace. Little did he know that the escape of STARSCREAM would draw dozens of new DECEPTICONS to Earth. The desire that burns brightest in his Spark is that the war will soon end. He is determined to see that end come, and so he works with his human comrades and the other AUTOBOTS to hunt the DECEPTICONS that have come to Earth, and destroy them, one by one."

So I wouldn't call it "completely different".
Has to, since the front of the legs formed the bottom half of the truck on the CG model, while the arms formed his hood. The toy appears to match this.

Old toy had parts going all over the place.

This one though seems to have taken some notes from the Transformers Animated Leader class toys.
You're kidding me. The only articulation Leader class Movie Prime from 2007 lacked was a waist joint.

Sir, you might be legally blind.

Comparing the two, it just absolutely stuns me how much better this new one looks.
encline:
to bad I gotta buy this.
Hobbes-timus Prime:
I'm actually a little disappointed with the way the tires hang off the upper leg...the leg transformation was my biggest problem with the previous Leader class mold and the Voyager mold's greatest strength, IMO.

Now, this is head and shoulders over both the previous molds in terms of accuracy to the CGI model, and it is a Hasbro pic so it's entirely possible the wheels are just mistransformed...but I'm actually more curious to see what the other ROTF Prime options are now...I don't think they nailed it just yet. This is a great attempt, but Movie Prime is one of my all time favorite Transformer designs, so I'm extra fanboy picky about the toy representations of him.

Since the pic is out now, here's his bio:

(All punctuation and capitalization as it appears on the package.)
the unacronner:
damn that thing looks tuff......my only gripe is the front tires just floating there on the hips....looks like a kids swimming safety thingy.....I wonder if those fold up int to torso it looks like there is a hinge ...he looks cool n shnit though
DieMaus:
This looks class; my pervading lack of a Movie Prime toy is starting to look more and more of a blessing in disguise. Still, I will be waiting to see if this toy can combine with Jetfire before I commit to buying it; as awesome as it looks, I think that the fiction-accuracy of a combining toy would still trump it in my book, even if it means getting a Voyager mould instead. Still, first impressions are terrific. Pat on the back, HasTak!

He's talking about the fact the first Movie Prime toy had plenty of articulation. Plenty. I mean, the toy had finger articulation, for crying out loud.
Fort Max:
Christ, it's like a quantum leap in Hasbro & Takara's work.

I'm really impressed that they even did this, they could have just done a bit of remoulding and some new SFX and called it a day, this real dedication to their craft.

But he still always looked like a brick on my shelf. I could not get any good action poses out of him. Nothing like my Animated Leader class toys. Thats what I said and this new one looks to have rectified that.
KAGE:
ZOMG <3
I wonder how the Jetfire combo will look like >_<*

That's my only real quibble from what we can see here. But there's probably no easy way around it. I think in the movie they cheat by having those parts scale down as he's transforming.

Wow..I ned new pants.

Maybe you're just not great at posing your toys? Sure his leg kibble gets in the way sometimes, but I've gotten some pretty cool poses out of Leader Prime.

I guess this shows that the designers at Hasbro and Takara are dedicated Transformers fans themselves, and they were probably all in need of new Optimus plastic crack
Novatron:
Accuracy... Awesomeness... I want!!!
VokVisitor:
yes! absolutely! this toy looksa bomb and it has a more movie-accurate transformation!
they fixed his feet so that they come from somewhere *other* than the grill, which I love. It looks like his arms really do come from his cab, like in the film. And the wheels! they found a way to have his back wheels come to his legs, without carrying that stupid, bulky cape-part with them!
This is how I hoped the first movie prime toy would be.

This is so mine, I would buy this in a heartbeat.
MythofBlackout:
Sold.

Now if they can just give Starscream the same treatment (I'm also holding out a fool's hope for Ironhide and Ratchet but I'd be satisfied with just SS).
Omegaplex:
This thing is above and beyond the design of the original figures and my hats off to Hasbro/Takara! Though I'd still like to see a back and side shot for a final analysis...
Eric:
I just creamed my pants. And I'm still creaming!
OmarJT82:
HOLY CRAP! That right there people is one bona fide, kick-ass, Movie accurate & highly detailed version of Optimus Prime. Forget the 2007 Premium version that I already have. I definitely want this Optimus Prime. I just hope it comes with his classic blaster gun like before!
AniProwl:
Slag! I might get this!
shibamura_prime:
Wow. 4chan's good for something I suppose. XD

Very not bad looking. And he talks this time around? SOLD.
Pepsiman98:
once again they give us the pic for ONE bot on the box but dont show us the pics of other leader classes on the box too. STOP TEASING US!!!!!!!!!
PredaconVukasin:
If this helps

Starscream1201:
it's more like the movie prime, but unfourtunately,I'm a Decepticons lover
Blackout:
Hmmm... don't see any pegs or posts that he would use to combine with jetfire.

Maybe there's a diffeent version for that.
the unacronner:
holy shit this one makes the last leader class prime look like Blocky McBlockman....I just buttered my wears

not really
That's a pretty bad shot of the first toy's box.

Makes his legs look tiny.

and the actuall pic on the box doesn't really do him justice.
BHiga6181:
[quote=Cory Bauer;2604256]I do believe this is quite possibly Hasbro's greatest achievement in the realm of transforming toys. [quote]

Really guys?? Am I the only one that thinks this is still lacking at this price point?? For $40 plus dollars I expect something much more accurate and with way less kibble.

Hasbro's Greatest Achievement....is still and will ALWAYS been MP Prime. That is how all expensive TF should be.

What the should do is make a $60 or so dollar MP mold for the main TF Movie figs, those would sell like hot cakes.

I still have yet to buy a single Leader class movie figure. The only reason I forsee buying another prime is if the Jetfire gimmick voyager pair is decent.

Im still VERY sour about the TF Movie Devastator/Constructicon toy BS...
Cory Bauer:
How about a little comparison?

Things that make me smile:

- Far superior proportions; he no longer has stubby legs and monkey arms
- The boxy chest has been rectified with movie-accurate angles and parts
- Nice big shin guards
- The rear wheels are on the hips, instead of the whole damn back end of the truck
- Filters on the shoulders
- RED arms formed from the trucks' hood, just like the movie
- Great detailing inside the legs and some intense sculpting on the thighs
- The gas tanks are even X'd on the back like the movie

Wow, the differences between both molds are huge. This is definitely a buy for me.
Ravenxl7:
The more I look at this guy, the more I think it won't combine with a Jetfire figure. Would be awesome if it could, but I think that gimmick will be used for the smaller size class figures. If so, then I'll be waiting for the Voyager class figures of Prime, Jetfire, and Megs.

Completely disagree. IMO, this new leader class Prime is leagues more impressive than Masterpiece Prime, who only had to turn from a block on wheels to a block on feet. The fact that they could get so close to the movie model's transformation in a 11" toy while maintaining the alt-modes realism and the robot's proportions is absolutely astounding. How they got so many parts to land where they belong is a mystery. This figure makes me embarrassed I spent $100 on "Masterpiece" Prime.
Paradigm-Shift Prime:
Neat! At this point though, definitely nothing glaringly better than TFTM1 leader Prime.

That's better, but can we got some non-stock photos of the first toy?
Preferably the premium or battle mode versions.
hutchprime:
Wow. I totally hate them for this. That is an AMAZING change.

1000000x better

rizuan76:
I've always said to myself I ain't gonna buy the new movi toys. but this!!! & the new head sculpt is very nice too.
Sideways:
gotta love teh 4chan.
looks interesting.
justamaze:
Oh Thank you. I love OP. This is incredable.
BHiga6181:
Anyone notice the M in the bottom right of the picture??

Could that be a picture of Megatron Leaders class??

That's for the Mech Alive gimmick.
It's what the previous topic was all about.

That would be awesome, but it's something we saw in the other picture. It's part of the Mech Alive name.
benzo:
damnit!! looks like i'm gonna have to break my new year resolution and buy this guy!!

Sine we're comparing it to a stock photo of the '09 Leader Class mold, using stock photos of the '07 model seemed appropriate.

Yup, apples to apples.

I SOOOOOO was all "I'm not gonna buy any of the ROTF toys" and then there's this stunning masterpiece.

Curse you Hasbro...
Fit For natalie:
I think all the people in this thread (and elsewhere) who are saying it looks more or less the same as the old one either have astonishingly bad recall, or don't own the previous leader Prime.

Eh. In retrospect I don't like MP Prime for having a pretty awful truck mode. It's not even a truck. It's a torso and legs on wheels.

And pricing leaving class toys at $60 would be a death sentence to the price point, dude. Parents wouldn't be able to justify it for their kids, and instead of having 2 or 3 new leader class (or equivalent) toys per year, you'd get one, maybe two if you're lucky.

Plus, all MP toys since MP Prime have been fiddly, fragile pieces of crap that are unfun.
Uni-En:
ok guys I don't know about you, but this thing doesn't look like it transforms, thats how nice it is.
Sup3hobo:
Looks great. The improvements such as the hip kibble being reduced is a huge plus in my opinion and it looks like it can be arranged a little better to not hinder hip articulation. They kept the articulated hands woot! The arms and legs look to have much better proportions that give it a less chunky look. I wondering if the stuff on the back can be angled in a different manner as it looks a little strange crossed in the picture. Overall I like what I see and I hope hasbro gives this guy a decent paint job with silver in all the right places as well as all the nice detail. If takara makes one with a lot of chrome I'll be buying that one for sure.
