Man I wish I had money theone26:
I must admit, after seeing some of the repainted and modded Devys on this board it really makes me wanna drop the cash, though not for $100 of course. Must find someone who does transformers repaint in Melbourne.
dkrolickm:
He looks nice in person. I set first eyes on him in Target last weekend.
My GF had to pry me away because I was drooling more over him then her. Hiraga:
I got this guy today. Man, after an hour of doing some paintwork this guy really shines and stands out on your shelf (In a good way). I like him, and I'd recommend him to anyone who has $100 to spare. Keep in mind, I only chose to get him because I'm making good money right now, and I wanted him anyway.
If you're okay with paints, definetley go for that too.
nemesisconvoy:
I picked this up last night and just got back from returning it. Leaving out the fact that it was missing the nose for Mixmaster, it is flimsey as hell. This is soooooo not worth $100.
Chaos Muffin:
After buying that Ultimate Bumblebee last year, I feel a little better dropping $100 on Dev.
Decided to start a Devestator fund and brought my truck change to a coinstar to cash all my change in. It turned out to be $135.00 worth of change (holy f*ck) so off to Target I went.
The plastic feels kind of cheap but he was worth it so far I think. Took awhile to get all the twisties off.
Only problem is Mixmaster, If you just look at him his electronics go off.
Is there a way to shut him up without removing the batteries?
I was trying to mess with this thing stealthily since it was late , everyone was asleep and the woman would kill me if she knew I bought it. But Mixmaster was trying to get my ass busted.
May weather em up to make them look better
DecepticusPrime:
Still cant justify purchasing it even after seeing it and scanning it with one of our scanners and finding out we(Walmart) make a roughly $31 profit on him. and At 98.96 or so, thats a $67 cost to us. Further proof to me that he is not worth what he is priced

too funny, reminds me of when i was a teenager, i mail ordered a huge tropical katydid from an insect supplier, i intended to keep it hidden from my parents, its was hidden from view but come sundown he began to call, and lets just say it sounded like a very loud bleepy telephone ringing.
busted.
dkrolickm:
You know how Mixmaster never shuts up? He sure is quit MISB.
This is the story of our love:
I was at Target, and I grabbed him and jerked him around and touched his head and he didn't make any noise, and so I made him open his mouth and he started sucking ,which made me happy , so after finding out he didn't have the balls he did in the movie, my girlfriend told me to leave him. $shockwave$:
I just might get him along wit the EZ Devastator
ManiactoaLaco:
IM surprised this threads still going..
Anyways, I'm going to town tommorrow, and stoping at TRU. I'm bringing $100 dollars. I'm hoping I Bring him home.
Sorta, it'll be hard to explain to my mom why I need a $1oo dollar Transformer, and were I'm gonna put him, now that my sheles are down for the moment.

ChrisLHanssen:
I think the Hasbro folks made a Devastator that transforms and combines is that they wanted the vehicles to transform to the various parts of the body Devastator had and releasing the various Constructicon going from vehicle mode to robot and sometime a second mode. I think that is a great idea Hasbro had.
Nemesis_Dirge:
Devy# 2 showed up today via Amazon.com....so off to find a air gun and some paints...Time to start playing on repainting and adding details to him...
funny that i wait to get a $100 toy to try to start learning how to do paint apps on a transformer toy

I find the Payload and Swindle/Camshaft figures to be better starters for practicing paint apps, though. They're so devoid of any good paint apps you can't really go wrong with ANYTHING on those.

Got him in today only problem I have with him is that Mixmaster won't shut up

Nemesis_Dirge:

influence82:
The toy including the box weighs 6 pounds 3.2 ounces. Power up Prime with Jetfire is the half the weight and cost $90. That is a lot of materials for a $100 toy. I think that it was a good idea to not have the individual components transform in order to keep the structural integrity. Other than the face there is no floppy kibble at all and it is really solid and thus can withstand the abuse of younger children playing with it.
I also noticed that even though it was advertised as a Supreme Class figure, there is no word Supreme on the box at all. Instead it is a Combiners class figure, making it in the same class as Superon and Bruticus (MSRP $29.99). Supreme Class toys are in the $50 price range. It looks like Hasbro allowed an exception in pricing the Combiners Class. In addition, because the contructicons were custom to the set, it allowed Hasbro to make them any size they needed to make them. Scavenger is Leader Class Size and Mixmaster is Ultra Class Size. There is no way that Hasbro would make the individual robots in those size classes if packaged individually.
Has anyone with the toy tried to have Devastator stand on all fours and crawl like the movie? The reason why I ask was because Devastator's upper body was so heavy that it cannot really stand on its two hind legs in the movie.
GAUGE0001:
I bought him and took him back in 3 days for the GI Joe PIT Mobile Headquarters.
Best 100 bucks I ever spent, the PIT is simply Awesome and the sheer size alone is literally 10x Devastator's Size 7 sheets of stickers, makes way cooler sounds and is a hell of alot more interactive and it comes with a fricken Ping-Pong Table of all things. barrelks:
Got mine in the mail from TRU today. I have to say that I am actually more impressed with it than I thought I would be. As many have stated, they could have given us more color/detail. Hopefully this will be taken care of by reprolabels (though we shouldn't have to rely on them to complete our figure. The face color really needs some work, and hopefully they will give us a nice sticker sheet for that. My other big problem is with Long Haul. I don't think they planned the knee joint very well for as heavy as Devs upper body is. I have a bad feeling that over time this is at best going to become a floppy mess, and at worst snap in half.
As a whole, I think he is actually a pretty damn good display piece, and the lack of individual bots doesnt bother me much since he is going to stay combined 99% of the time. He has some serious girth to him, and actually looks pretty damn good posed with the individual constructicons around him. $70 was my buy price and I am actually pretty damn happy to have him at that price.

So my Devastator from Target.com arrived today. Don't really have any new insights into the figure, I agree with everything everyone's said about him, good and bad.
I do have a question though: My figure has a minor assembly error, his right "shoulder" is missing the pin that holds in the gray connector peg that the arm attaches to. The peg already came out once while detaching the arm, and it wasn't much fun prying it out, let me tell you... Does anyone know what size pin this is, and if it's possible to get replacements? (if not from Hasbro, maybe from a Home Depot-type store?) It seems like this could be fixed easily, with less effort than it would take to repackage this guy and return him.
nic28:
say what you will about devastator but i have had mine for about a week and i love it yea it's kinda on the heavy side but it's a pretty great piece to have. well i like to think so that is.
SoundMaster:
Finally saw him at tru. He's even bigger than I thought he was!
Better start saving.
Ray Kremer:
Well now I know why people complain about the electronic noises so much. It's not button activated like these things usually are, there's a tilt sensor or some sort in there that sets it off. Gee wilikers.
Dally:
From looking at pictures I sort of like this guy, but I don't really have any room to display him and its too much money to spend on something I'll have to store away. I guess I'll just get the legends Devastator.
Epic:
My question is to those who are upset over the lack of individual robot modes for the limbs - realistically how many people would display the constructicons in their individual modes and not as Devastator?
Just wondering.
jorod74:
I finally saw Devs in a TRU and must say that i am passing on him.
and My Ft. Max is still champeen, in my book.
since i have held it and looked at it, i don't care about the lack of individual bot modes.
I just think it looks FUGLY.
Now an all green repaint, i might entertain the notion of getting that.
"might", i said.
Shadow25:
Look, I wouldn't mind the lack of individual robot modes if he at least looked accurate to the movie combined. But he doesn't, at all really. He can't replicate the four legged stance well, he's overly bulky and cartoony, and really is a giant Tonka toy. For $100 he lacks all detail present on the actual robot.
Mightion:
I picked him up today, and just now finished cleaning off my dresser to have room to display him. (There is always room!) Aside from the hyper sensitive sound trigger on Mixmaster in vehicle mode, I've no complaints.
He's more movie accurate than the original Leader-Class Optimus (first movie); and like has been said, in the movie the Constructicons didn't turn into robots, so that doesn't bother me. Size does matter, and his size makes him awesome. My only larger figure is Brave Maximus.
krysuk:
Picked him up yesterday now his price is dropping in some places in the UK
yeah he's a bit of a brick.. but a loveable brick...
and I'm a sucker for the gimmicks (even though I'm 34)
Even my other half loves him...
Made my leader Jetfire that i bought at the weekend look a bit small by comparison
Glad I waited though full price was just too much for him

Hasbro answers the most common question on Devastator on Unicron.com: Quote:
Unicron.com Question #2
We are still trying to reconcile the Revenge of the Fallen Constructicons. There have been several theories:
a.) There are only one construction vehicle that turns into one component robot and unites with fellow team members to form Devastator. This is the G1-paradigm. For this to be true, we must assume events in the movie are depicted out of order, that Devastator took his tumble off the pyramid, then each component transformed, off-screen back to robot form and rejoined the Autobot vs. Decepticon battle...
b.) There are fictionally, more than one Decepticon with identical construction vehicle alternate modes. Fans should assume that the Mixmaster that go gutted by Jetfire is a different, non-related character to the cement mixer Decepticon component of Devastator.
c.) There are fictionally only 1 construction vehicle that turns into a robot. But, Devastator, like the toy, is one entity comprised of 6 vehicles that don't turn into component robots. One could suppose that Scavenger, a different individual than Demolisher, could be controlling all the rest -non sentient vehicles?
d.) Something else we haven't thought of????
Please provide us an official explanation?!
Hasbro, Transformers Team
The quick answer to your question is one that you provided, Option B. Simply stated, there are a race of Transformers called Combiners that are not limited to one form or method of combining. Needless to say, there are a lot of things that can happen within this and other races of Transformers.
| source: Events & Interviews: Hasbro Q&A 10/21/2009
btw, nowhere on the package of Devastator does the word "Supreme" show up. It is only a Combiners Class toy.
Also, if anyone has Pics of Takara ROTF RD-16 Devastator, please share!
herugrim:
Honestly looking at this guy I can't think of a single reason to get him. I didn't mind the vehicles not having individual robot modes (didn't bother me with Tidal Wave) but I assumed we were going to get dynamic trasnformation mechanics and a well articulated figure. There was no reason to be so lazy. The repaint *might* have better paint applications but it isn't enough to save it for me.
And he isn't that big either. Leader Prime was nearly as tall as him as the pictures show and I'm wondering if Prime & Jetfire combined can actually see eye-to-eye with him. Either way I've got the RPM Ultrazord and Pyramidas, both of whom are much taller then Devastator.
Especially Pyramidas, he could probably eat movie Devastator. And he was cheaper to boot!
Mightion:
Primeand Jetfire combined can see eye-to-eye with Supreme Devastator. It's not height (so much) that makes him big; it's his sheer width and depth. I still love mine. | | Tools and Information | | | | | | | Revenge of the Fallen Constructicon Devastator Review - Transformers News.
