My theory is that the Cons want to re-create Cybertron AAFAIK that planet wasn't near any stars...it was cold and dark and they want to rid anything that would support any sort of organic life.

Isn't this Crazy Scheme with the pointy device and the Sun based upon G1 Megatron's Crazy Scheme in Changing Gears, where he tapped the Sun for power, but unintentionally cased it to become very unstable?

Because, obviously, Megatron didn't "die" in the first movie.
It's a movie. Killing iconic characters is a given. Now, I don't KNOW that Prime will die, but it's certainly not out of the question. Especially since Megatron has already proven that death means nothing in the movieverse.

I'm extremely happy that Megatron and Starscream get to duke it out. Even if that is only a short fight, it'll be awesome to watch.
Looks like there's three big plot threads from these:
1 - The ancient language pointing to the device, as a means for Decepticon revenge / domination.
2 - The Allspark shard and Megatron's rebirth.
3 - The Fallen figures into it all somehow too

Also someone mentioned that they didnt see Starscream in that 'final battle' pic. I noticed that a LOT of TF's are missing as well, so I wouldnt think that means that Starscream is dead at that point. The article in either Empire or USA Today mentioned an F-22 being filmed for the final battle and that is was supposed the enemy named Starscream. Just my .02...
