I don't get the hate on these things. I can understand being turned off by the non-transforming Drones, but Hating them? I don't get it. They look like a whole mess of fiddle-worthy fun. As much as I like the idea of having a Robot/Vehicle/Appendage combiner, I prefer to have some decent looking limbs at the cost of a Robot mode. Aesthetically they work for me as well, being that sort of A/E/C, Universe and Movie blend, a smattering of what the modern paradigm of the franchise looks like.
I think I'll pass on Bombshock though, the limbs are a little too generic for my liking, but Smolder and Backwind are bought on sight. Hopefully Huffer and the Aerialbots turn out well enough. Hoping we get proper pictures of the "Menasor" soon enough.
Anyway, here's a shot of Bombshock combined next to Universe Onslaught and ROTF Bruticus:
And a shot of all of the core scouts with Deluxe Bumblebee. You can see that Bombshock really is about normal scout sized, Smolder is rather large for a scout class figure, and Searchlight is kind of in the middle. Skyburst and the aerialbot drones should be here on Monday, I can compare them with him then.
awesome, thanks for the pics man… he looks about the size i thought he'd be… can't wait to get them…

I was waiting for the video reviews to at least change my mind a little about these figures, but man, I still think they suck worse than a VERY sucky thing.
Worst TF figs in a loooooooong time IMO.
Looks like a Frankenstaein's mess of crap. Will avoid completely.
Not my cup of tea, especially since the arm/leg limbs don't seem to be interchangeable. I think it's genius on Hasbro's part though. Kids are all into Bakugan nowadays and the new Bakugan combine. The power cores are a cross between Transformers and Bakugan and the all kids love minicons. Not sure how well it'll do unless it has a cartoon supporting it though.
ah… how about some other classics figures then? prime, megatron, etc…

If the drones had robot modes… and I'm talkin' even something as simple as a G1 micromaster …then I would buy these. But… I'm just not sure what I'm going to do with all these stupid little drone toys. I just don't like them. They don't impress me, and I don't think they are "neat."
I will most likely buy the ones that come with just a little mini-con though, as it still has a robot form, and won't clutter my desk with little car things that have no robot form.
I don't need everything to be built in to the drones if it means no robot mode! I would much prefer the extra attachments, (hand/feet parts) and a robot mode for each drone. I mean, the combined mode isn't even that impressive, so it's a double fail to me. Imagine if all the little drones had robot modes (thereby making them minicon triple changers…limb, vehicle, robot) then would you be even more excited about the line? I know I would.
i probably wouldn't because the robot mode would probably be an afterthough and not look right… or the price on these would be higher to make them functional… i'm happy with what we're getting…
I warmed up fast to the whole idea of "it's the scout adding vehicles to himself to power up", so I'm still pretty well into the approach. I admit it does really help that once again, Scout-sized Transformers exhibit piles of personality without a single piece of supporting media.
Not really. Minicons tend to be unstable messes with all their little joints and tiny pegs. I'm happier with this solution. It also reminds me of the Exo-Suits from later year action masters. Really, I just like that they gave the combined forms their own larger, in proportion head. And Smolder has light-piping, hoorah.

I don't know if it's due to the angle, but in that pic Bombshock combined looks close to Bruticus' size. I expected them to be shorter.
Definitily digging this subline.

My feelings for these guys go up and down repeatedly. Great review Peaugh, can't wait to see your review of Skyburst and co!

I'm not feeling this Power Core Combiners line at all. I guess I'll just wait for Generations.
dorfsquest
I like it, but his gimpy left arm really bugs me for whatever reason….

Love it, love it, love! Did I mention that I love it?

I definitely like this one. Not too sure about the 2-pack figures..they don't work nearly as good as torsos.

Not digging these figures at all.

I don't have either of those.
